Overview
Be mesmerised by the stunning sea views from one of the many gorgeous terraces at Villa Mediterraneo, perfectly positioned in the Parco Nazionale del Cilento, just 800m from the beach and summer lidos, set in the Campanian province of Salerno.
The warm and hospitable owners have created such a beautiful and spacious villa, wonderful for families or friends with its vast enclosed gardens as well as stylish and inviting interiors. Set over three floors, the layout allows a degree of independence on each level alongside ample space to gather together whether it’s sunbathing by the magical infinity-style swimming pool or feasting al-fresco by the summer kitchen with its wood-fired pizza oven and barbecue.
Sip your morning espresso looking out towards the sea from the vine-covered pergola with its bougainvillea and jasmine or head up to the first-floor terrace with sun-loungers and further space to dine as well as even more magnificent landscapes. The top-floor sea-facing balcony is the perfect spot for a glass of chilled wine or appreciate the woodland views from the rear terrace with cork oak trees across much of the estate.
Inside the villa, guests can expect modern style alongside an abundance of Campanian charm with white-washed walls, colourful artwork and great attention to detail. Each of the five bedrooms are so pretty such as the ground floor double with its French windows leading to a shady terrace or the top-floor attic room with it’s picture-perfect view through the arched window. Air-conditioning can be found upstairs whilst the shade of the giant oak, thick stone walls and bedroom ceiling fans keep the ground floor cool on warm summer days.
Set around 56m above sea-level, you can reach the beach in just 800m with its sandy shores and summer lidos. There are shops, bars and restaurants just a little further in this friendly and authentic seaside resort which is especially atmospheric in the summer months. Arrange a private skippered boat for tours of the coastline whether its visiting natural sea caves, the unspoilt beauty of Acquafredda or the beautiful beaches of Maratea with the most incredible sunsets.
Of course, the interior of the Parco Nazionale del Cilento, now a UNESCO World Heritage site, is also waiting to be discovered with its dramatic mountains, lush forests, historic sites and fascinating flora including wild primroses and orchids. Or for a complete change of scene, head to the local town of Sapri and pick up a summer ferry to the Amalfi coast and magical island of Capri to explore yet more of this enchanting part of Campania.
** Please note the property is positioned close to the Amalfi Coast but is actually located in Salerno Province **

Location
About the surrounding area of Villa MediterraneoSet at the foot of the Parco Nazionale del Cilento in the Salerno province of Campania, Villa Mediterraneo is around 56m above sea-level with wonderful views of the Gulf of Policastro, part of an estate featuring woodland and cork oak trees.
The beach is around 800m away (be mindful that the last part up to the villa, beyond the railway bridge, is very steep so car may be preferable) where you will find sandy shores and summer lidos whilst shops, bars and more restaurants can be found in the local resort, an ancient fishing village, around 2km away. This area is authentically Italian with good restaurants serving regional cuisine made from local produce and there’s an especially lovely and lively ambience in summer months.
This coastline is a joy to explore – why not hire a skippered boat for the day, which can be organised in advance by the owners. Discover a wealth of natural caves as well as beautiful bays including the incredible coast around Acquafredda and Maratea with cliff-backed beaches and picturesque sunsets. There are more idyllic coves en route to Palinuro, many reached only by boat or the most adventurous hikers.
The nearest town is Sapri, around 5km away, where there are summer ferries (usually from the end of May to mid-September) to the Amalfi coast, the island of Capri and Naples. Spend time in the town itself with its characterful town centre, lively bars and restaurants and beachside promenade.
Then of course there’s the beauty of the interiors of the Parco Nazionale del Cilento, the second largest national park in Italy, featuring rare flora, ancient olive trees, forests of cork oaks and an abundance of wild animals and rare birds. The hilly landscapes provide great walking opportunities – head as far as Monte Cervati, nearly 2000m above sea level, and follow the 2hr hiking trail (partly off-road) to its peak from the village of Sanza.

We loved the villa
We loved the villa, the large comfortable space, it's beautiful grounds, swimming pool and spectacular views. High quality furnishings and everything there you would need. The master bedroom is spacious and has doors opening onto a patio with seaview. The Queen size bed is very comfortable. The hospitality of Marzio was wonderful. He made us feel very welcome, at home and suggested places to visit (Maratea, The Status of Christ the Redeemer) as we didn't know the area. Thank you Marzio for going the extra mile to ensure we enjoyed our stay. Thanks to Maria, the daily housekeeping was an added and appreciated bonus. The villa is in a quiet secure area with free parking. You can drive to the seafront in 5 minutes where you can find restaurants that mainly cater for pizza and fish lovers. Although, there are alternatives if you look around. The Amalfi Coast was on Mum's bucket list which was special to visit, but we were glad to have booked something further afield towards the end of our holiday away from the busy tourist areas and relax and unwind at the Villa. We had the best time and look forward to returning one day. Thank you x

The location of the villa is perfect
The location of the villa is perfect - within walking distance of the beach and local restaurants/shops and a great place to explore the National park. The views from your own private terrace are spectacular - uninterrupted views of the sea and mountains. If you just want to relax then everything is provided for your comfort at the villa and the pool is excellent. Above all the host (Marzio) and the housekeeper at the villa could not be more kind and helpful. Marzio was available for any questions throughout our stay and offered advice on where to visit , including a street art festival. We would highly recommend a stay here if you are visiting southern Italy!

We simply had a wonderful stay
We simply had a wonderful stay.
We didn’t go to half of the places we wanted to see in the area as we couldn’t get our eyes of the amazing view from the property.
Marzio is an incredible and welcoming host and he takes great care of his guests.
The housekeeper Maria is always smiling and extremely helpful.
We are already looking forward to returning to this amazing place. -
10/10 - this is Italy's best kept secret
We have no intention of going back to Amalfi now that we found Marzio's stunning, thoughtfully appointed villa and la dolce vita on the Cilento Coast! Our stay was magical, filled with the most beautiful and happy memories with our three small children (under age 7) who swam, played, read, painted, and used their imaginations from morning to night. Our family stayed for 3 weeks and from that glittering, saltwater pool to my "Pilates with a view" (just use a beach towel for your mat on the terrace!) to the delicious dinners prepared by Chef Franco every night in the elegant summer kitchen, every member of my family was enchanted. The villa housekeeper/angel Maria not only kept the home sparkling clean but also treated my kids like her own, providing an extra set of hands and eyes whenever she was around. The host Marzio is next level - he went above and beyond to make our stay a success. He showed up on the first morning with delicious croissants and breakfast pizzas for our jet-lagged crew; brought my husband around in his car to show him the best local grocer, gelato, pizza, beach clubs, etc; and even took time off work one day to help us explore the coast including the most pristine beach and water and memorable restaurant EVER! (If you go... ask for the LUPO!) Every activity we did (including renting a boat with a captain and exploring the black sand beach and swimming caves + fancy lunch!) was a genius recommendation from the wonderful Marzio. He made everything so easy and we made too many memories to count, so all I have to say is..... we will be back!

The place is magnificent!
We found this gem unexpectedly and available in short notice, so we decided to book it. The place is magnificent! If you are looking for something with a stunning view, this is it!, the villa offers a full array of amenities and you feel welcome by Marzio, Antonietta and Maria. After many years of working in the hospitality industry, I can share that the hospitality provided is family alike, it almost feels like you’ve known them for all your life! The villa is pristine, the service is exceptional! I look forward to come back!

Better than the pictures
The place was absolutely beautiful even better than the pictures. You have all the privacy you want as the place is very well layed out and organized. Marzio is a fantastic host. He is hospitable, friendly with great tips about the area. Yet he leaves you all the space you need and you have your privacy. You will be looked after by Maria and she will cater for all your wishes with a beautiful smile. She is a treasure. Simply said the place is a gem with gems of hosts. Thank for a lovely stay!

A little piece of paradise
This is the most beautiful location we have stayed at, it is a stunning property and a destination in itself. The facilities are top class, every detail has been considered, the views are beautiful and the host was fabulous. (If anything I would say the photos don’t show the true beauty of the property and the views, as they are exceptional) Marzio was such a fantastic hosts and couldn’t of made our stay any better. I would highly recommend this property as it is a little piece of paradise.

You need to come to believe view from house, pool & garden
Wow, what a find! You need to come to believe view from house, pool & garden: calm bay enclosed by majestic silhouetted mountains. You never tire of it. House spotlessly clean, luxuriously furnished, every detail thought of. Kitchen has every item you could need. Cool drinks in large fridge on arrival, so much espresso, & lovely bottle of Prosecco & red wine. Outdoor pool is spotlessly clean & lovely size for family to enjoy; lots of sun-loungers, parasols, inflatables & pool toys for everyone. Marzio gave detailed guided tour & instructions on arrival, & advice on local restaurants, supermarkets & sites. Always contactable by phone for queries. Maria cleaned amazingly every morning. 1 of us uses wheelchair, so Marzio & Maria had built wooden ramps for all steps (Grazie mille!); outdoor shower with plastic seat was perfect. What a fantastic week!

Breathtaking view
Wow — where to even begin? We absolutely loved our week spent at Villa Mediterrano. It was everything we wanted it to be and more. For some background, we arrived to a different property in a nearby town and quickly realized that it wouldn’t be suitable for our 9 month old baby traveling with us. We wanted a place that we also felt we could relax at in the mornings and evenings between exploring the region, and the owner saved us last minute and provided exactly that. The villa has a breathtaking view of the surrounding mountains and the perfectly blue sea. You can take in this view every morning from your personal terrace, or each afternoon while having a swim in the large infinity pool. Either way, you will find it very difficult to leave! Marzio and Maria quickly became like family. They made us feel right at home and took care of us and our baby like they’ve always known us. We just arrived home, and are already planning our return! You won’t regret staying.

The villa is magnificent
Marzio is a wonderful host and his villa is magnificent. It is better than expected and my expectations were high based on the photos, reviews and description. From the moment you book till the moment you leave Marzio is there to answer questions and to give advice for your stay in this incredible area of Italy which has clear-blue-water beaches and is not too crowded! The details: Kitchen has everything you would need as does the outdoor kitchen; the beds were comfortable, linens nice; the A/Cs are new and worked well except for the kitchen which has a wonderful breeze; the pool is very clean and a salt water pool-a nice surprise! Maria is there everyday to tidy-up the pool area, the outdoor kitchen and is willing to clean the inside if you would like for her to do so. The villa kept on giving from the fruit trees to the aloe plant for quick relief from our stinging sunburns. We will be back! Thank you Marzio, Antonietta and Maria for a magical stay with wonderful host.
-
The view is stupendous. The pool is perfect.
Beautiful, quiet, immaculate, airy, spacious, and well-appointed. There are not enough positive adjectives to describe this remarkable Villa. The view is stupendous. The pool is perfect. The house, the outdoor kitchen, the pizza oven, the terraces, the beautiful interior... Best. Place. Ever. I haven't even gotten to the best part--the wonderful host. Marzio is one-of-a-kind. He is kind, thoughtful, informative, generous, attentive, and wonderful to interact with. I only hope that we can strive to be as good at being guests as he is at being a host. I hope, pray, and dream that we can return here again and again and again.
-
Wonderful villa
Our stay at this wonderful villa was one of the best holidays we have had. The villa's situation means you have panoramic views of the sea and the mountains. The host is very attentive and has made a map to make getting to all the recommended sights very straight forward. He looks after his guests very well with lots of restaurant recommendations and things to do. The pool is wonderful and has a spectacular view too. We could not recommend Villa Mediterraneo highly enough.
-
Stunning
Photos don’t do it justice! Stunning location, home, and host! The host made us feel welcomed from the moment we arrived. This is the sort of place you want to tell everyone about, but also keep to yourself so there’s availability for booking
-
Incredible
The host is incredible - kind, attentive, responsive and as a result my extended family spanning 3 generations experienced an incredible holiday at Villa Mediterraneo. Thanks to the host we enjoyed fantastic meals at some of the best local restaurants; experienced some fantastic trips including a memorable day cruising the beautiful coastline by boat. Nothing was too much trouble and the lovely housekeeper also deserves a mention for keeping everything so clean and tidy during our week. I'm so glad we ventured slightly further afield to experience a truly unspoilt part of Southern Italy. Absolutely faultless.

Lovely villa
Lovely villa, lovely people! We had a spectacular time.
-
Nothing short of perfect!
This Villa is nothing short of perfect! It is in a picture postcard location, far from the maddening crowds, is completely restored with the modern conveniences and old world charm. The hosts make you feel like you are with family! Seriously, the host and his family are spectacular hosts… taking care of every little thing. We couldn’t find even one small thing that we would change. Even the kitchen was perfect… the bucolic location is amazing, close to town yet far enough to be a quiet country setting. The level of details taken care of is a testament to the owners willingness to please guests, and they did! It was a perfect few days… next time (hopefully soon) we will stay longer.
-
Amazing
AMAZING - wonderful host, the most incredible pool and view, immaculate, clean and perfectly equipped accommodation. We booked with the host very last minute as our booked accommodation was cancelled - we fell on our feet as he is the most incredible host who looked after us so well. We had our 8 month old baby with us and his family were so welcoming and accommodating, picking us up from the train station and taking us to the supermarket, playing with our little girl in the pool and just generally going above and beyond. The villa is up a steep hill and as advised in the description your stay is much easier with a car and the area needs to be explored to its full potential. However even though we didn’t have one we still enjoyed our stay walking to the village for lunch once and just enjoying the pool/garden/balcony and really relaxing for the four days we were there. Cannot recommend this place enough, not only is the accommodation incredible but the host is one of the kindest, most excellent hosts you could ever ask for.
-
Great accommodation
We really enjoyed this wonderful villa - great accommodation.
-
Fabulous
Wow - what a fabulous vacation home. We enjoyed every bit of our week here. Thanks to the chef for wonderful dinners and Maria for keeping us fresh.

So special
Villa Mediterraneo is so special, we all had a wonderful and memorable stay. The kindness of our host and his team of helpers added to the experience. We loved everything about our stay and will be back one day! Grazie!

Wonderful time
Special people, special time and special place. Wonderful time and memories.

Stupendo!
Stupendo!! 10/5. This is not only the most beautiful place we have stayed in, but the absolute best super hosts we have had the pleasure of meeting. The experience was not only phenomenal because of the incredible views, privacy and luxury of the villa, but most of all, our hosts made us feel like family from the very start! From the moment we stepped in, the most polite and gracious host took us on a tour of the beautiful home, which is absolutely breath taking! The host and his family hosted an incredible dinner for us where we got to know each other and not just see but experience the beauty of Villammare and it’s people. I have travelled to many places but this one has definitely been my favourite. We have a small baby and the hosts made sure we have all of the comforts of our home, and more! I absolutely recommend this villa to anyone, but especially if you are looking for a luxury experience and amazing privacy and tranquility. Also very close to town and the beach, although we spent most of our time on the gorgeous deck and terraces by the pool- we had everything and more than we needed! Grazie mille!
-
This was an incredible place to vacation for my family!
If you want to escape to the real Italy, away from the tourists but experience the best of the Italian coast - this is a gem! The pictures do no justice to this place. The villa is full of all the luxuries we needed. The bedrooms were all very large with good design and great amenities. The bathrooms were well stocked and extremely clean - as was the whole houses immaculate. The kitchen was great and a fun place to prepare food. The outdoor kitchen was also a real treasure at night for long dinners with our large group. There are many eating areas and balconies with well appointed seating for morning coffees, afternoon reading and evening cocktails. Lots of space to get some quiet time. Our family enjoyed so much time at the pool. It’s huge and has great steps leading into if you have little ones. There was a box full of pool toys too which was brilliant for our group. There was also a great slide and swing set in the garden - it is an endless activity center for a family. The villa is surrounded with lots of delicious fruit trees and everyday we picked lemons, plums, peaches as we played in the garden. It was magic. Perhaps the best part of the trip was our host Marzio and his team. He was incredible helping us plan activities before and during our stay (definitely recommend the boat trip and booking dinner at his local favorites). He shared with us his family wine - which tasted even better with the stories he shared about his family. Maria the housekeeper keeps the home immaculate and always there to help with anything we needed. They really made us feel welcome and shared the best of Italian hospitality. We will be back to stay again - it was heaven.
-
Once in a lifetime experience
To say that Villa Mediterraneo is the perfect home for a family vacation would be an understatement. Everything about the villa exceeded our expectations. There is enough space (both indoors and outside) for people to relax, explore, and have fun. The HUGE pool (with lots of pool toys), plum trees, swings, and outdoor gathering spaces were a highlight. Our group consisted of 6 adults and 8 kids under 10. The house was safe, perfect for all ages, and spacious enough for naps, pool play, and outdoor relaxing to happen at the same time. The host gave us solid recommendations on restaurants, day trips and other amenities. This helped to create a once in a lifetime Cilento coast vacation that our families will never forget.
-
One of the best family holidays we have ever had!
A fantastic location with sea views and private surrounds. Marzio our host made sure all our needs were fully met. Gardens pretty with apricot orchards set against blue sea vistas. The pool was hard to clamber out of. Perfect temperature (June) Equally the nearby sea was so clean and clear and delicious to swim in. Heavenly. Diversity of activities in this area. Cilento national park has stunning mountain scenery tumbling down to the sea. Hiking to waterfalls. Boat trips.
-
Very nice villa!
The villa was extremely well-equipped & much more spacious than appears from the website. The owner was extremely helpful and took us to buy pizzas the evening we arrived. He also brought in chocolate cake and a delicious cherry pie. The ladies of our party were given aprons showing the villa as mementoes and we were taken for Italian ice creams before we returned home.

Amazing, unforgettable holiday
An amazing week in an incredibly beautiful villa with stunning views! We spent a week at Villa Mediterraneo in August for a family reunion. We were 5 adults and 5 children (aged 6 to 15). We had an amazing week - one that we will remember forever! The villa is a gorgeous 3 floor structure and we rented the entire villa. On the first floor (or ground) are 3 bedrooms (one facing the sea, and the other two facing inwards, a large living living and dining space, 2 full bathrooms and a nice spacious kitchen. There are 2 doors that open up to a covered patio that looks over some lovely flowers and out down over the sea. There is also an outdoors dining area and then at a lower level a complete outdoor kitchen. The second floor has a contained 1 bedroom unit with its own living room (with a sofa bed), kitchen, dining area and a bathroom and the 3rd floor is also another independent bedroom unit (smaller than the second floor) but also with a small outdoor patio. The villa is luxurious and comes with a housekeeper. This is a huge help as it kept the villa clean and many chores done allowing us to spend more time with our families. From my earliest interactions with the owner I just felt incredibly comfortable in speaking to him. He went out of his way to ensure that his guests have an amazing time and he is always accessible. He went above and beyond to make the house comfortable and accessible for each of our family members. The villa has the most stunning views from all floors looking our towards the hills further south and out into the beautiful sea. The pool is incredible well kept and we spent at least 3 days lounging by the pool. There is plenty to do (boat excursions, beaches, driving to nearby villages or further out to Pompeii or Naples) or not do! It is a little out of the way but we loved that as it allowed us to experience a part of Italy that most foreign tourists never get to. The people in the surrounding villages are incredibly friendly even though they may not speak much English. The food and wine is amazing - a chef came and cooked many delicious 3 course meals for us. Upon our return I asked one of our 9 year old twins what his favourite part was and he responded "everything". Yes, we all agree. Thanks for an unforgettable reunion.
