Overview
Located on the top of a hill in the heart of the Val di Noto, Le Forme is a beautiful home surrounded by ancient olive trees, sun-kissed vineyards, and verdant hills in southeastern Sicily. Just a stone’s throw away from the coastline, it offers excellent views of the surrounding natural backdrop.
Step inside this chic countryside property with incredible views. Modern and minimalistic interiors in hues inspired by the cliffs and heavenly soft sand that’s synonymous with the island are what you’ll find here – from rattan rugs and brown marble countertops to patterned tiles and soft furnishings.
The kitchen is made for recreating yummy local dishes, with first-class appliances and a stunning dining area that looks out to the vineyards. Further through industrial glass doors, you’ll find the cosy living room with a sofa inviting you to sink in after a long day. There’s an additional dining table and plenty of ambient lighting to set the mood. The double bedrooms are all equally minimalist and decorated in a soothing colour palette with modern bathrooms and two balconies overlooking the garden.
The villa, built with local materials and rustic sandstone exteriors, is immersed in a scrubby land full of sun-dappled vineyards and olive groves extending as far as the eye can see. Guests are invited to unwind in the garden which combines a neatly manicured lawn with Sicilian vegetation, or by the pool that can be accessed by a stone path. Harmoniously illuminated at night, it runs underneath a tower and has a sleek corner bar on one side for preparing cocktails and light snacks. Climb the stairs, where you’ll find an al-fresco dining spot perfect for soaking up the tranquil views.
It’s easy to spend an entire day in this calm oasis, but allow plenty of time for exploring. The closest village is Rosolini, and it has local amenities such as family-owned trattorias, ice cream shops and supermarkets to make your stay more comfortable.
Noto, a town known for its baroque architecture and plenty of historical sights, is only a 20-minute drive away. The unspoiled and sun-drenched corner of Sicily is ideal for immersing in the local culture by visiting its churches, markets and squares.

Location
About the surrounding area of Le FormeLocated almost at Sicily’s southeastern tip, close to notable towns and the Mediterranean coastline, Le Forme enjoys an idyllic location great for exploring the lesser-known part of the island, full of rolling countryside and natural landscapes.
The closest village, Rosolini, boasts a supermarket, essential shops and a couple of traditional restaurants to satisfy sudden cravings, and it’s a good stop on your way to the beaches and other places if you need to stock up on snacks. The closest restaurant is also just a 10-minute drive away, while a local winery offering wine tasting and tours can be reached in just 5 minutes by car.
The city of Syracuse shouldn’t be missed on your itinerary either, as it attracts crowds to visit its UNESCO World Heritage Site-listed old town along with the Necropolis of Pantalica. Keen history enthusiasts should see the Catacombe di San Giovanni – a system of underground tunnels with tombs and sarcophagi beneath a church dating to the 6th century as well as Tempio di Apollo (Apollonion) – a garden among ancient, storied Greek temples dating to the 6th century BCE.
Alternatively, visit the hilltop city of Ragusa and stroll around its old town, which displays Baroque architecture, such as the Ragusa Cathedral, lush public gardens, and pretty fountains.
Sicily offers a unique mixture of landscapes – from fertile slopes and volcanic rocks to historic villages and limestone cliffs framing the Ionian Sea – to suit all travellers. Those longing for some hustle and bustle should head to Catania, the second-largest city, once an important cultural, artistic and political centre. Many artists have called the city their home, and it’s clear why; the alluring piazzas, Baroque and Renaissance architecture, and a sun-kissed coastline will leave you in awe, while its gastro scene is also worth exploring.

Beautiful

Magical!
This place is magical! I spent a couple of weeks here in mid December 2022 and was enchanted with the ambiance of this property. A luxurious in its own right, it is situated on top of a hill surrounded by an olive grove and citrus trees, with spectacular views on three sides. Its furnishings are minimalist, yet very sophisticated, light, yet very refined. It has a multi-cultured architectural tone, with clear Sicilian overtones, making it very comfortable and welcoming.
The exteriors are sublime, with a large terrace, a BBQ grill, a beautiful garden and a magnificent infinity edge pool, not to mention an observation tower to gaze at the stars at night. Perfect for the very discerning guests (such as my mother-in-law), it is very comfortable, practical and functional, even for those who wish to enjoy a home-cooked meal on occasion – for one or many!
I highly recommend Casa Carlita to anyone who wants to get away from it all, discover the magic of the Sicilian outback without sacrificing comfort, and still being a short drive from some of the most charming towns and attractions in Sicily.
Kudos to the creators of such a gem.
