Overview
Villa Matilda is so close to the turquoise Sicilian seas that you can enjoy panoramic sea views from the villa and terrace and hear the waves gently crashing as you sit in the garden relaxing in the sun. This contemporary holiday home is in an ideal location 400m from the sea in the south-east of Sicily and is just 12km outside of Syracuse, an ancient city of timeless beauty and culture.
Villa Matilda is a home which comprises of two separate units; each with two bedrooms and one with an additional sofa bed. The main house and annexe can sleep up to eight people between them, and the layout would be great for two small families or a group of friends travelling together; meaning you can spend plenty of time together but also have some privacy when you need it. Both of the buildings which make up the villa are spacious and finished to a high quality with air conditioning, smart TVs and beautiful furnishings. The garden is a space for everyone to come together and spend days enjoying the private pool and the amazing sea views. There is even an outdoor kitchen to prepare a Sicilian feast alfresco.
The house is located close to the protected marine area of Plemmirio which covers 12km of coastline, protecting the beaches, caves, plants and animals within the park. This means the areas surrounding the villa are picturesque and filled with local flora and fauna and there are some lovely little coves, wetlands and beaches to visit just a few kilometres away.
Also near to the villa, you will find local shops, cafes and restaurants all under 5km away and of course you are only 12km away from Syracuse meaning you can visit as often as you like to see as many of its sites as you want to.
Syracuse is one of the main attractions when on holiday to Sicily, so it is brilliant to find a villa so close to the city, yet so immersed in nature too so you can enjoy different aspects of the island's personality. Syracuse is a great place to visit, and it is a melting pot of centuries of culture and history due to the many different invaders and settlers who have made Sicily their home since around 730 BC. This amazing history means there is a wide range of historic sites, monuments and religious buildings to see and an eclectic culinary culture too!

If you fancy seeing the coast from the comfort of a boat trip, then you could go to Fontane Bianche which is a twenty-five-minute drive away, this is a lovely beach which offers private boat hire or tours.
When you wish to relax and enjoy the local natural surroundings; try going for a hike or a paddle in the clear waters of the protected area of Plemmirio which is just minutes away from the villa. Kids
Best Suited For: All AgesThe South-East of Sicily is a lovely place for a family, and there is plenty for children of all ages to see and do in the area and further into the island too.
On your doorstep is Plemmirio a protected marine area comprising of beaches, cliffs, wetlands and caves and all of the plant and animal species in the park area. This is a great place to take children, whether you take them trekking, swimming on the unspoilt beaches or to spot some of the protected animals such as certain breeds of lizards and birds. You can take part in organised bird watching, snorkelling and walking activities too which you and the children will enjoy. Another great beach to visit is Arenella which is 7km away and at this vast sandy beach, there are lots of watersports on offer for children to try.
Syracuse is a great city to explore with kids and is a twenty-five-minute drive away from the villa. There is so much to do in this ancient city that you could go every day and not get bored. Children will love the archaeological park and you could spend hours there exploring the Greek and Roman ruins. In the city there are also many museums which run exhibitions and events for children, including a puppetry museum and theatre, the Da Vinci Museum and the Archimedes museum which has outdoor machinery and experiments to see.
If your kids would prefer a day out to a water park, there is one just outside of Syracuse. The park has some great slides for older children, a baby area and also a relaxation area, so everyone would enjoy this family day out.
