Vista Sul Mare is a modern and tastefully decorated family home. Sitting in an elevated position where it enjoys panoramic sea views, the house is ideally located for trips to the local beaches and marina-side restaurants. With historical sites, boat trips and charming villages all within easy reach, Vista Sul Mare is an ideal base for exploring North-Eastern Sicily.

This spacious, contemporary home is spread over three floors; the living and sleeping accommodation are to be found on the entrance and lower floors, while the upper floor is dedicated to a vast roof terrace which boasts breath-taking views and is a great place to sunbathe.

The villa has a number of living spaces available for your party to come together and make memories. On the lower floor, there is an expansive open-plan room which houses the fully-fitted kitchen, a dining table and large comfy sofas. This sociable space is perfect for gathering for breakfast or to make your morning coffee to sip on the terrace. On this floor you will also find one of the bedrooms which has a double bed and an en-suite bathroom.

On the entrance floor there are a further two double bedrooms which are both en-suite. The master room features a balcony and a bath tub where you can indulge in a soothing soak after busy day. In addition to these bedrooms there is a fourth room which is a living space with a double sofa bed in case you need to accommodate a few more guests, this room is also a good spot for older kids to hang out away from their parents.

If you head up the stairs to the upper floor you will find yourself on an incredible roof terrace where you can look down at the sea and the marina below, the terrace is furnished with armchairs so is an idyllic place to escape to for a bit of peace and quiet.  The home also has more outdoor space which comprises of a tree-sheltered dining area and of course the incredible infinity pool.

When you wish to dine out or fancy a trip to the beach, you do not have to travel far at all as you can be at the marina which you can see from the garden within a 5-minute drive. At the marina you can watch the boats coming and going and tuck in to dinner at one of the restaurants. You will also find a selection of shops here and a small park for children to play.

Follow the sweeping coastline around from the marina and you can pay a visit to San Gregorio beach which is a long, pretty beach with turquoise waters, this is a lovely place to visit and quieter than some of the other beaches nearby. Another fantastic beach to visit is Capo d'Orlando beach which is located in a town which shares the same name, just 6km away from the villa. Capo d'Orlando beach is much-loved and you are sure to wish to spend plenty of time here. The town also has lots more to offer and is steeped in history as it was first settled by the Normans. In town you will discover a wealth of shops, cafes and restaurants, plus you can explore the ruined castle, view the lighthouse and visit the 17th century sanctuary which is still a celebrated place of pilgrimage. Another lovely way to pass an afternoon here is to hire bikes and cycle along the cycle paths on the promenade.

In addition to visiting the nearby beaches and towns, Vista Sul Mare is well-placed for taking day trips to different parts of the island. You could visit the ancient city of Tindari (33km away), head inland to the medieval village of Ficarra (13km away) or even take boat trips from Milazzo to the Aeolian islands (61km away).

Sicily is a beloved holiday destination and with stunning beaches, a rich history and delicious local cuisine, it is easy to see why. When staying at Vista Sul Mare you will be perfectly situated for a break exploring the vast coastline, discovering mountainous walking routes and visiting medieval villages.

From the villa you can see the beautiful sea and the marina, which are both just a stone’s throw away. The closest shops, bars and restaurants are dotted around the waterfront at Capo d'Orlando Marina which is a mere 2km away. You do not have to travel much further to paddle in the sea at one of Northern Sicily’s fantastic beaches as the beach at San Gregorio is just 3km away and Capo d'Orlando beach is 5km away.

For a wider range of shops and restaurants you should head into Capo d'Orlando town which has a modern, vibrant feel to it, though it was founded during The Crusades. Capo d'Orlando has some wonderful beaches and a long seafront promenade where you can walk or cycle. As you wander around you will spot historic buildings such as the octagonal lighthouse and the hilltop ruins of the old castle. Visitors flock to the beautiful Sanctuary of Maria Santissima which is a 17th-century church and site of pilgrimage and also to the gorgeous Villa Piccolo. The villa was home to the Piccolo brothers who were renowned 19th-century poets, painters and photographers and their famous cousin, the writer Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa wrote some of his best-known works at the villa when visiting. Fans of the family will enjoy seeing their home and learning more about them, though you can also simply enjoy an afternoon pottering around the pretty home, its museum and vast landscaped gardens.

Another place within easy reach is the historical village of Brolo which is just 6km away from the house. Brolo has a good selection of eateries and artisan shops and sits inside stunning 16th- century walls, though the village itself is much older. The village was privately owned by a feudal family until the 18th-century and has a fascinating history which you can learn more about by visiting Brolo castle. This imposing castle was built in the 10th-century and is now home to the museum of torture where you can see a wide range of weapons and medieval torture devices which were used against invaders. If this is a little morbid for your liking you can also explore the castle rooms, art work and courtyard. The village is an atmospheric place to dine in the evening as you can sample local dishes in small trattorias which open out on to the pretty village squares.

There is so much to see and do in this part of Sicily that you will never get bored! On top of visiting the towns and beaches close to home you can also head inland to the discover the beauty of the rugged, mountainous landscape. A delightful way to do this is by booking on to a full-day horse trek with a company such as Sicily Horse Tours. You can also visit ancient ruins and settlements such as the amazing cliff-top city of Tindari where you can wander around Greek and Roman buildings and ruins including a staggering Greek theatre. Tindari is located 33km away from the villa. Another option for a day trip is to drive to Milazzo which is 61km away and from here you can set sail to the incredible, unspoilt Aeolian islands.

The North-East of Sicily is a wonderful place to visit with children of all ages. Whether you have young children who love nothing more than paddling in the waves on the beach and tucking into some tasty gelato or you have older children and teens who will love visiting historical sites and museums to learn more about the island’s rich history, there is something here for everyone.

There is lots to see and do close to the villa and you do not have to travel far to find incredible beaches and family friendly villages and towns to visit. If you are looking for a memorable day trip for your whole party and don’t mind heading a little further along the coast then why not take part in an organised boat trip. Firstly, drive the 61km to Milazzo which is a great place to stop for breakfast before you step on board. There are a wide range of full-day boat trips you can book on to from here; a popular one to take children on is the trip to Lipari and Vulcano islands. Lipari is packed with archaeological sites while Vulcano is exactly what is sounds like- an active volcano! It is of course perfectly safe to visit and you can even unwind with a soak in the thermal waters which are heated by the volcano below.
