Giardino Degli Aromi belongs to a cluster of five properties nestled in a far-stretching private estate of northern Italy’s Emilia-Romagna region. Featuring a magnificent setting, luxury facilities and close proximity to many ancient cities, it’s the perfect place to discover the best of Italian history and culture.
A magical walk through an aromatic botanical nirvana placed inside the estate’s vegetable garden full of fragrant citrus trees, centuries-old oaks and luscious bushes ends with a view of the rustic Giardino Degli Aromi. The characterful residence exudes a sense of serenity thanks to its original features such as wooden window shutters and iron juliet balconies, but wait until you step inside.
The interior carries the same sense of magic – it’s the terracotta ceilings, stone walls and classic wood panelling that create the ideal backdrop for unique Italian antiques and classic furnishings scattered across the living spaces and bedrooms. Equipped with king size beds and en-suite bathrooms, each of the four bedrooms has been tastefully finished with objects of careful research, while two bedrooms also have a small living area for further privacy.
Peaceful and quiet thanks to the idyllic surroundings, the outside area benefits from a south-west-facing arbour where guests can enjoy their morning coffee or afternoon aperitif before hitting the snooze button and relaxing on a blanket in the neatly manicured grass. About the surrounding area of Giardino Degli AromiBenefiting from a convenient location, Giardino Degli Aromi offers the optimal base for exploring Emilia-Romagna, as well as the surrounding landscape.
The property is nestled in a peaceful estate with a restored 18th-century villa, allowing guests to enjoy first-class facilities and sprawling nature all at once. Open the front door to immerse yourself in the pungent Hortus Conclusus botanical garden designed by famous Italian architect Antonio Perazzi, full of low walls, terraces, water fountains and blooming botanicals. On a sunny day, you can follow one of the walking trails available in the private park or rent bikes to scout the territory even faster.
For more restaurants and local amenities, head to the closest village, based only a 5-minute drive away. The area is full of picturesque spots and open plains, with the famous thermal city Castel San Pietro Terme being only 10 minutes’ drive away. Featuring a fantastic spa facility with healing water from the Fegatella Spring, it’s also home to many restaurants, wineries and cafés serving delicious local dishes and wine from neighbouring vineyards. Just over 20 minutes’ drive away, the mediaeval village of Dozza looks like an open-air museum and boasts an ancient Sforza fortress alongside artistic murals decorating the city.
The closest city of Bologna can be reached in 30 minutes, and is known for its two leaning mediaeval towers, as well as a plethora of museums, galleries and friendly eateries. Travel a bit further to discover more gastronomy in Modena, famous for its balsamic vinegar and home to one of the 50 best Michelin-star restaurants in the world.
Thanks to the sparkling Adriatic Sea being within close reach, escaping the summertime heat is easier than you think. Known for its seaside resorts such as Marina di Ravenna, Cesenatico and Rimini, it has all the things you could possibly dream of – think palm tree-lined promenades, never-ending strips of sand, seafood terrace bars and everything in between.
Exploring doesn’t end here though. The Tuscan gem Florence and world-renowned Venice can be both reached in two hours by car, and are full of breathtaking architecture, cobbled alleyways and romantic corners waiting to be discovered.
Directly south from Florence, you can find the city of Siena, boasting historic landmarks such as the breathtaking Duomo di Siena, popular square Piazza del Campo and Piccolomini Library filled with Pinturicchio frescoes.

If you prefer motorbikes, head to the Ducati Museum which shows how these fast and furious motorcycles are made. After a long day, a reward in the form of delicious gelato from the Carpigiani Museum is all they need to ensure you have a peaceful drive back home.
The Adriatic coast is well known for its sunny seaside resorts and sandy beaches, so head here to cool down on a sun-drenched day. Around Marina di Ravenna, you can find many popular water and amusement parks such as Mirabilandia with its roller coasters and laser gun attractions, set to the fulfil most adrenaline-seeking children’s dreams. Alternatively, head to the Singita Miracle Beach for much-needed relaxation and keep tabs on sand-castle building little ones from a nearby terrace. This historic estate offers a once-in-a-lifetime venue for a spectacular Italian wedding, an ideal option if the privacy of luxurious villas appeals yet you also wish for your guests to stay close by in the beautiful on-site hotel.
There is a variety of settings for a romantic symbolic ceremony followed by a grand reception feasting on the delectable cuisine of Emilia-Romagna, a region renowned for its gastronomy and wine. Indeed, many artisan products are sourced from the estate’s own farm including one of the world’s most awarded extra virgin olive oils.
The professional staff here will create a magical day, paying great attention to even the smallest details, all set in such glorious surroundings and the perfect way to experience Italy’s timeless charm.
Wedding Reception
Giardino degli Aromi and Villa Assunta can host up to 240 guests for an event. Villa Claterna may also be a possibility for 200 guests.
The ‘Pergolato dell’arte’ outdoor area has space for up to 180 guests.
One of the estate’s ‘Belvedere’ rooms can act as a dance floor.
Please note music should end outside by midnight and inside by 3.00 a.m.
Wedding Ceremony
Symbolic ceremonies can take place at the following locations:
On the ‘Prato Cavallo’ for up to 100 people or by the Pavilion for 100 people (or 60 on a Sunday).
Il Mosaico can also host wedding ceremonies (villa rental is compulsory) for up to 150 people.
It will up to the Event Planner to source an English speaking celebrant if needed.
Where to Stay
Oliver’s Travels features Il Mosaico (11 guests), Giardino degli Aromi (8 guests), Hamamelis (10 guests), Villa Claterna (12 guests), Villa Ravaggiolo (10-12 guests) and Villa Assunta (10 guests).
Furthermore, guests can stay in the resort’s hotel (150 rooms) and country house (12 rooms)
Wedding Planning
The venue’s Event Planner is usually mandatory. If you wish to use your own then this needs to be pre-approved in advance.
Catering
All catering is in-house (external caterers are not permitted).
Corkage fees apply if you choose to bring your own wine and this also needs to be approved in advance.
Venue Accessibility
There is limited accessibility by public transport but there is complimentary on-site car parking. There also wheelchair access in some venues – please enquire for more details.
Children
Children are welcome (no event childcare services are available).
Noise Restrictions
Music should be turned off by midnight (outside) and 3.00 a.m. (inside) according to local and resort restrictions.

Events can take place at any time of year.
Chairs, tables and place settings are generally included whilst everything else can be arranged by the Event Planner, subject to additional costs. The venue does not work exclusively with any suppliers (other than the in-house catering and wedding planning service).
Please note that other events may be taking within the vast estate - there is no exclusivity.
