This villa’s outdoor space makes the most of the breath-taking landscape. Let the magical views of Lake Lugano enchant you while sunbathing on the sunbeds or relaxing on the comfortable outdoor lounge set. Swim in the gorgeous private pool with its beautiful hilly backdrop. For a romantic moment with your loved one, walk along the charming stone path, through the garden, and reach the quaint pergola. Share a bottle of local Italian wine while indulging in the picturesque atmosphere. There is also a larger outdoor dining area so all guests can enjoy a meal together.
Villa Liberta’s interior will make you feel right at home. Rustic stone walls and exposed beams give it a traditional flair, accompanied by contemporary décor and cosy furniture. The living room has a big L-shaped sofa and panoramic windows, so you can relax and admire the landscape. There is also an iPod dock and satellite TV for those evenings in. The stunning stone archway leads into a dining room, containing a large dining table and an arched doorway with a view of the lake. The separate kitchen has everything you need to cook something delicious.
Upstairs, there are three bedrooms with lake-side views and en-suite bathroom. Two gorgeous outbuildings can accommodate additional guests, and there are bedrooms on the lower ground of the main house too. Children will love the playroom, which contains toys, a football table, and a ping pong set.
This villa is in the ideal location for people who want to experience Italian lakes. Take a ten-minute drive to Valsolda, known for its historical churches, a 19th-century villa, and bar. From here, you can follow one of the hiking routes that go through forests and up the hillside, offering remarkable views of Lake Lugano.
The lake itself has lots of activities, including boat rides to the Swiss Alps from Porlezza and water sports such as parasailing. If you are feeling hungry after adventuring, there are a variety of restaurants dotted along the lake’s shore – the nearest is just a five-minute drive away. Travel twenty minutes by car to reach Lugona, a mountainous town in Switzerland. Here you can explore two spectacular mountains, Monte San Salvatore and Monte Brè, which offer incredible views of Lake Lugano and the surrounding areas.
Drive around half an hour to reach Menaggio, a charming town nestled next to Lake Como. Explore its rich history by walking through the old town, filled with medieval-style buildings, stone stairways and slim alleys. From Menaggio, you can take a ferry to Bellagio and Varenna, two popular lakeside towns characterised by cobbled streets and quaint boutiques.

About the surrounding area of Villa LibertaThis gorgeous villa boasts incredible views of Lake Lugano, with an impressive backdrop of green hills covered in woodlands. Located just a half hour’s drive from the picturesque Lake Como, Villa Liberta is the ideal place to experience some of Northern Italy’s most beautiful sites.
Besides its magnificent landscape, Lake Lugano has lots to offer. You don’t need to travel far to get a bite to eat. The lake’s shore is dotted with a variety of restaurants and the nearest is only a five minutes’ drive away. Indulge in some local cuisine while admiring the views. If you’re feeling adventurous, try out some of the water sports on offer. You can even take a boat tour across the border to Switzerland, where you can admire the Swiss Alps!
Drive around ten minutes to reach the centre of Valsolda, home to a 19th-century villa that sits beside the water. Explore the historical churches and stop off at the bar. This stunning area also offers a variety of hiking routes that take you up hills and through forests, providing a unique perspective of Lake Lugano.
To further experience Italy’s culture, drive around ten minutes to Porlezza, which sits alongside Lake Lugona. Walk along the shore and marvel at the buildings glistening in the water. Explore the cobbled streets lined with shops, restaurants, and bars. With an impressive waterfall, historical buildings, and a Saturday market, Porlezza is a lovely place to discover.
Drive around twenty minutes to reach Lugano, a charming town that sits on the Swiss side of the border. Its grand landscape offers lots of mountainous hiking routes for you to discover. Climb to the top of Monte San Salvatore, a mountain that crests at over 900m – you’ll be blown away by its 360 degree views. Lugano is also home to another impressive mountain, Monte Brè, which you can reach by cable car. When you’re not hiking up the mountains, make sure you explore the town centre. With restaurants, historical buildings and lots of shopping, Lugano is ideal for a day out.
Travel around half an hour by car to Menaggio, a historical town on the edge of Lake Como. Wander across the elegant lakeside promenade, which takes you between colourful flowerbeds and pastel-hued houses. The upper part of the town, known as the old town, is perfect for history lovers. With steep stairs, stone buildings, and narrow alleyways, it takes you back to medieval times.
Menaggio is a great starting point to explore Lake Como and some of its popular towns. Hop on a ferry and reach the bustling towns of Bellagio and Varenna, or take a ten-minute bus to Tremezzina. It’s definitely worth taking advantage of one of the boat rides that take you around the lake, giving you a unique experience of the Alps.

Best Suited For: All AgesAdventurous children will love the activities on offer at Lake Lugano, from paddle boarding to boat rides. Some boat rides from Porlezza take you across the border into Switzerland, providing a wonderful experience of the Swiss Alps. Younger children will love swimming in the pool at Lido di Lugona, just a 15-minute car journey away. There are also many kid-friendly restaurants for when they have used up all their energy!
Situated on Lake Como’s shoreline, the town of Menaggio is a perfect day trip for the family. Just ten minutes away by car, the town has activities for all ages. Little ones can play in the playground, and older children will enjoy hiking through the forests. The historical old town is like a history lesson for kids; watch while the kids marvel at its stone buildings, narrow alleyways, and steep stairs.
For something a bit different that the kids will love, drive around half an hour to Swissminiatur, an amazing outdoor miniature museum. Situated on in the Swiss town of Melide, the museum displays over 100 miniature versions of Switzerland’s famous buildings, from Rapperswil Castle to the Parliament building in Bern. There is even a small functional railway that travels around the park!
