Overview
Much like the impressive flower whose name it shares, the three-bedroomed Villa Girasole stands proudly in the hills of the Langue, inviting you to enjoy a sun-kissed summer break in the beautiful north Italian countryside. Up to eight guests can share a relaxed family holiday in this spacious and inviting home right in the heart of the famous winemaking territory of Piedmont.
Entertaining is made easy and sociable, with a well-equipped kitchen that opens to a dining table and lounge, along with doors to a shaded dining terrace. After a short trip into Costigliole d’Asti, relaxed lunches - including Piemontese delicacies like Castelmagno cheese and Salsiccia di Bra – are yours for the duration of your stay. There’s another spacious lounge to the front of the villa, featuring a dining table and large, comfortable sofas. A smart fitness room provides an alternative, with a running machine, exercise bike and workout bench!
Each of the air-conditioned bedrooms are positioned over the villa’s three storeys. The ground floor room’s terrific garden view is a joy to wake to, with a large window that floods this tastefully decorated room with natural light. You’ll find a cosy double bedroom on the first floor, along with an additional kitchen and walk-through room with a double sofa bed. From here, a staircase leads to the top floor, where you’ll find a twin bedroom and the second of the villa’s two bathrooms – each with a walk-in shower.
Immaculately-kept lawns open out around the villa, complemented by an assortment of native trees and topiary, with hedges stylishly providing privacy at the perimeter. You’ll find superb dining tables to the front and rear. Just as inside, the gardens encourage you to relax and enjoy your surroundings at every turn – and where better than in and around Villa Girasole’s fabulous eighteen-metre swimming pool? The poolside terrace is generously equipped with superb, comfortable furniture, with a corner lounge at one end - ideal for sharing lunch with a bottle of Asti wine - and shaded sun loungers at the other.
The towns and villages of this culinary heartland abound with extraordinary restaurants, artisanal bakeries and butcheries, as well as markets that proudly flaunt the region’s unique food heritage. Of course, where there is food in Piedmont, wine is never far behind. You’ll only be twenty minutes away from the phenomenal wineries of Canelli - birthplace of Asti Spumante, world-renowned Alba truffles, and just over half an hour from Bra – famed for its piquant Salsiccia di Bra beef sausage.

Location
About the surrounding area of Villa GirasoleFor anyone seeking a base from which to explore Piedmont’s gastronomy and viticulture, Villa Girasole’s location is pretty much perfect. Surrounded by vineyards and hazelnut groves, and never too far from a top-notch restaurant, you’ll be as little as twenty minutes away from some of the region’s world-famous wineries. You’ll be situated on the outskirts of a beautiful village whose landscape is elegantly dominated by a thirteenth-century castello. As well as phenomenal restaurants and cafés serving extraordinary Piemontese cuisine, you’ll discover artisanal stores and mini-markets with cheeses, meats, pastries and everything else you’ll need to prepare tasty meals of your own, back at Villa Girasole.
Perhaps surpassing even Fiat vehicles and Lavazza coffee, wine is one of Piedmont’s foremost exports. Canelli, twenty minutes from Villa Girasole, is birthplace to perhaps the most recognisable Piemontese label of all – Asti Spumante. Wine aficionados travelling to Canelli would be well advised to make plenty of room in their car for cases of wine, as well as leaving space for dinner at one of the superb restaurants that are a hallmark of this region. Three of the wineries to the north of Canelli are particularly special, offering guided tours of their spectacular cellars, with incredible wines still produced according to long-standing traditional methods. Be sure to book ahead to enjoy this fabulous experience, where you’ll have the opportunity to taste some outstanding labels – and buy some to take away and enjoy at Villa Girasole, of course!
Head twenty kilometres south west to find Alba, famous for its wild white truffles and home to Ferrero – purveyors of hazelnut based chocolate treats enjoyed worldwide. Unlike the wineries of the region, Ferrero aren’t keen on revealing their production methods, so don’t expect to find yourself on a tour of their factory! Another ten minutes on the road brings you to Barolo, whose wine heritage is no secret at all. As you would expect, Barolo draws in throngs of visitors year after year, but not just to the restaurants pairing locally-reared beef with bottles of the Langue’s famed export. The WiMu Museo del Vino a Barolo invites you to explore the rich heritage of this town’s very special wine, as well as the cultural, economic and social relationships brought about by its prestigious viticulture. The museum’s innovative tours, in the grand setting of Barolo’s castle, feature interactive elements that immerse you in Piedmont’s winemaking culture, from the panoramic terrace views to the magnificent cellars beneath the Castello di Barolo.

This house truly exceeded our expectations
This house truly exceeded our expectations: - Great location on the top of a hill, with views on the castle of Costigliole, and within driving distance to many other great places to visit - The house itself was perfect and very spacious, just as the swimming pool and the very well-kept garden - And last, but certainly not least......the best hosts ever, who were extremely friendly and helpful by providing good tips and making reservations at some restaurants.

We had an absolute super time!
We (two families of whom 3 children aged 8-9-10) had an absolute super time in this villa. Her husband are present, but you don't see them unless you need them. And they have great fresh vegetables in their garden. The pool is wonderfull and REALLY big! The garden is a paradise with various places to sit, both sunny and shaded, with comfortable furniture. The beds are very comfortable and the kitchen is equipped with everything you can think of. And more.
Don't miss out! Reserve now and get a full refund if you change your mind within 48hrs.
