An authentic, three-bedroomed Piedmontese country house with panoramic views across the Langue hills, Villa Grignolio welcomes up to eight guests for a relaxed family break in picture-postcard surroundings. Timelessly traditional - much like the local wine that shares its name - this three-storey villa enchants guests seeking a taste of north Italian country living.
The whole family will have plenty of room to gather and relax, with a tastefully decorated living space that boasts two large, comfortable sofas and a small dining table great for relaxed suppers in front of the television. The fireplace, natural stone flooring and tiled ceilings add to the homely feel, along with the carefully chosen furniture.
In a region famed for exceptional produce, you’ll have a real ‘cook’s kitchen’ to indulge your gastronomic urges. A vast range cooker is an impressive centrepiece, with a farmhouse-style dining table making family mealtimes a relaxed experience – imagine all the terrific Piemontese dishes served here! French doors open to a shaded dining terrace and outdoor lounge, a delightful space to enjoy time together with a selection of Piedmont’s superb food and wine.
Your three bedrooms all feature wonderfully cool stone floor tiles and benefit from air conditioning. With sumptuous double beds, too, you’ll be assured of a restful night of sleep, even in the hotter weeks of summer. All three rooms feature characterful en-suite bathrooms, with the master bedroom enjoying a balcony with terrific countryside views – a fantastic start to your day and an invitation to head out and relax in the garden.
As well as the upper terrace that’s fantastic for enjoying a glass of Barolo or Spumante in the shade, steps at the side of the villa lead you down to a well-furnished poolside terrace. Between refreshing dips in your 12m swimming pool, you can enjoy a snooze on the sun loungers, with an extra dining table for a poolside barbecue on balmy evenings.
Villa Grignolio is around a 15-minute drive from the centre of Asti, where you’ll find all the provisions you need and much more. The farmer’s market at Piazza Catena and Piazza Alfieri’s indoor food market is open on weekdays, with a wide selection of fantastic local produce.
The general market on Wednesdays and Saturdays draws in shoppers from across the Asti region, with stalls featuring clothing, linens and yet more terrific Piemontese foods. Enjoy picturesque walks around the medieval town, including some of the remaining thirteenth-century Torri from Asti’s era as the ‘City of One Hundred Towers’. In the heart of wine and truffle country, you’ll find a wealth of terrific osteria and trattoria, while it’s worth booking ahead for dinner at some of Asti’s restaurants.

Location
About the surrounding area of Villa GrignolinoAs well as the stunning town of Asti, with its historical centre, vibrant markets, top-notch restaurants and surrounding vineyards offering tasting tours, Piedmont is a region brimming with exciting destinations for gourmets, wine lovers - and those with an appreciative eye for a picturesque view.
Around an hour’s drive from Villa Grignolio is the Piedmontese capital of Turin. Home to stunning baroque architecture, galleries and museums, you’ll also discover a phenomenal culinary scene. Tempting gelaterias, Michelin-starred restaurants serving fresh takes on the region’s classic dishes and outstanding pizzerias offer a giddying array of choices for visiting gastronomes.
Food and wine are at the centre of most people’s holidays in Piedmont, with a day in Barolo front and centre of many of their travel itineraries. One reason for this is Barolo Castle’s fantastic, interactive wine museum, WiMu Museo del Vino a Barolo, where you can discover the rich history of this delightful town’s viticulture and the incredible cellars housing some of Europe’s finest wines. Villa Grignolio is equally well-positioned for the thirty-minute journey to Alba, famed for its wild white truffles that grace the dishes of prestigious restaurants worldwide.
Despite its name, you’ll need to head to Canelli to reach the birthplace of the region’s most famous label – Asti Spumante. Just over thirty minutes away, Canelli is home to some of Piedmont’s most prestigious wineries. After booking ahead, you’ll be welcomed on tasting tours featuring exceptional wines produced to méthode traditionnelle. As you’d expect, Canelli is home to eateries that expertly pair these local wines with dishes crafted from the best Piemontese meats, vegetables and cheeses – though do make prior reservations, particularly during high season.
