Overview
Blending Apulian tradition, artistic design and an essence of understated luxury, Trullo Acanto is an exceptional abode set within a 6-hectare estate of beautiful natural scenery, only 3km from the charm of Cisternino’s old town.
Having undergone an immaculate restoration, the owners of Trullo Acanto have created a complete holiday experience in Puglia. Here you are able to immerse yourself in the heritage of your surroundings and enhance your stay by arranging a wonderful array of services and experiences.
The main residence at Trullo Acanto sleeps 8 guests across four gorgeous bedrooms, each one with Smart TV, walk-in wardrobe and en suite shower rooms (the master double also features a decadent bathtub in the bedroom). There’s an inviting living and dining space inside alongside a well-equipped kitchen yet it’s the outdoor spaces where you can truly unwind and relax. A fifth en suite bedroom is situated in a poolside annexe.
Outside the main part of the home there is space to dine al-fresco and relax on the terrace. Follow the pretty path across the garden to the heated salt-water swimming pool for long, lazy days swimming, lounging in the sun and listening to music. The rounded gazebo is perfect for outdoor dining by the barbecue.
Beyond your private garden, the estate (also home to the larger Trullo Barbagianni) boasts the use of a children’s play area, outdoor gym and organic kitchen garden.
The services that can be arranged (at an extra cost) seem endless – creating memorable opportunities is part of the overall experience here. From well-being, beauty and fitness sessions to gastronomic dinners, star-gazing evenings, movie nights, cookery classes and personalised tours, there are so many ideas to discuss before you arrive.
The beauty of the Valle d’Itria awaits on your doorstep with Cisternino a very short drive away. Get lost in its warren of old lanes, little squares and white-washed houses, then admire the glorious views of olive groves and vines from its limestone hill.
Other highlights of the region include Alberobello, Locorotondo, Martina Franca, Ceglie Messapica and Ostuni (known as La Città Bianca), all superb visits in their own individual way, whilst the sandy beach, lidos, lighthouse and thermal baths of Torre Canne are just twenty minutes away for a day by the Adriatic.
What you should know…
- There are four bedrooms in the main part of the residence (two with independent access) and a fifth bedroom in a poolside annexe. Please see the 'Layout' tab for details.
- Another stunning rental, the 6-bedroom Trullo Barbagianni is part of the same estate set within the 6 hectares of Parco Mo’. The two properties can be rented together (accommodating up to 22 guests) or separately, with each offering complete privacy. They also share access to the children’s playground, outdoor gym, kitchen garden, and the rest of the estate.
- Trullo Barbagianni has its own padel court. If that trullo is unoccupied during your stay at Trullo Acanto, there may be the possibility to use it.

About the surrounding area of Trullo AcantoWithin a vast 6-hectare estate with olive trees, Trullo Acanto enjoys a fantastic location close to the attractive town of Cisternino. The estate is located off a country road surrounded by glorious landscapes of vines, olive groves, old farmhouses and traditional trulli – this is the beautiful Valle d’Itria in Puglia.
Be enchanted by Cisternino’s old town, just over 3km away, with its authenticity and historic charm. Set on a limestone hill with stunning views of the surrounding countryside, Cisternino is considered to be one of Italy’s most beautiful towns. Explore the warren of ancient lanes with white-washed houses and little squares. As evening nears, dine at one of the town’s much-loved fornelli, a butchers shop where meat is grilled in front of you, followed by a drink on an atmosphere café terrace.
In the heart of the Valle d’Itria, food-lovers will appreciate Ceglie Messapica (19km) with its gastronomic reputation. Admire the baroque architecture of Martina Franca (13km), soak up the white-washed charm of Locorotondo (8km) and visit Ostuni (20km), known as La Città Bianca. Not forgetting the iconic Italian town of Alberobello (16km), now a UNESCO World Heritage site with its many historic trulli.
Spend time by the coast whether playing golf at San Domenico Golf Club (21km) or relaxing on the sandy beach at Torre Canne (13km), also loved for its lighthouse and thermal baths. Across this part of the coast, look out for upmarket summer lidos alongside delightful fish restaurants serving fine seafood from the Adriatic.

There’s board games, children’s books and inside Trullo Acanto's lounge guests can enjoy the Smart TV. The private swimming pool also awaits with pool games for all the family to enjoy.
From a practical point of view with youngsters, you can request the use of a cot, highchair, pushchair and baby bath.
The owners take great pride in the services/experiences that can be arranged at an extra cost such as cookery classes, star-gazing evenings, family yoga, horseback tours, boat excursions and other water-based activities. For a truly special summer evening, experience an outdoor movie night with popcorn, all set up within your grounds.
Families may be keen to head to the coast for the day – the nearest beach is at Torre Canne, home to a lighthouse (visit its Museo della Marineria e dei Fari) and a long sandy beach featuring public areas as well as private summer beach clubs with loungers and parasols to hire.
Other seasonal attractions within a 30-minute drive include Zoosafari Fasanolandia, a theme park, aquarium and drive-through safari, and Aquapark Egnazia (22km) for a summer day of water-filled fun. Indiana Park (28km), the largest adventure park in Puglia, is another fun day out for all the family with its tree-top trails set in a vast oak forest.
