Overview
Located on a low hill that looks towards the southernmost stretch of Italy’s heel, Villa Caletta is a modern holiday house nestled in the Puglia region, just a short drive to the renowned resort of Santa Maria di Leuca.
Immersed in a large garden overflowing with trees and flowers, this exclusive residence is in a semi-residential area surrounded by other holiday houses and natural vistas. Guests can enjoy beautiful sunsets and pretty views over the landscape from the villa.
On the ground floor, a large sliding French door gives access to the living room with a sofa, TV, and round dining table. The superbly equipped kitchen is ideal for every aspiring chef and allows you to prepare home-cooked meals and serve them inside or on the terrace al-fresco. Traditional Salento stone walls are featured throughout, complemented by tastefully selected furniture awash in sand colours. There are two bedrooms on this floor, and external stairs lead to a lower ground floor featuring its own little living room, kitchen and two remaining bedrooms, all bright and equipped with en-suite shower rooms.
You’ll enjoy the warm Italian sunshine in the stunning garden with various flowerbeds with Mediterranean plants and trees. There’s a large swimming pool in the middle of the terrace, a deck featuring sunbeds, umbrellas, and a gazebo. With plenty of space for relaxation, this is simply the perfect place for a large group or family.
Only 5 minutes away by car from the Santa Maria di Leuca resort, Villa Caletta is fantastically positioned close to beaches, restaurants and numerous spots for walks and relaxation. A neighbouring commune Castrignano del Capo is also just a short drive away, offering more food spots, bars and a lovely historic centre with musical and entertainment events in summer.
If you’re craving some hustle and bustle, head to Lecce or Brindisi to soak up their historic charm and explore more of the unique Italian culture. Notably, Lecce is known for its abundance of Baroque buildings, including the Piazza del Duomo cathedral. On the other hand, Brindisi has a stunning castle with sea views and a port from where you can continue your trip around the Italian coast.
What you should know…
- Whilst a restaurant is within walking distance, please note that the path is along a road.
- Please note that hiring a car is highly recommended to explore the region conveniently.
- Please note that the garden is not fenced and the whirlpool bath on the roof terrace has low walls; therefore children shouldn’t be left unattended.

Location
About the surrounding area of Villa CalettaThe Salento peninsula makes for an idyllic holiday destination for those wishing to enjoy a slower pace of life. In a slightly raised position, the cliffs tumble down to the sea, and you can enjoy remarkable views of the Adriatic.
Just a short distance from the villa, you can reach a coastal road to Santa Maria di Leuca, a small village with local amenities. In the opposite direction, there are wonderful sandy beaches with bathing spots. If you get hungry, there’s a fantastic seafood restaurant just a 10-minute walk from the villa, with splendid views and a cave Grotta del Drago conveniently nearby. These magical coves are typical in this area, and many can be accessed by boat or land. The closest ones include Grotta degli Innamorati, Grotta delle Tre Porte and Grotta maestro Gianni, all with turquoise water and plenty of marine life ideal for swimming and snorkelling – we recommend booking a private boat trip around the shores to see as many of these natural wonders as possible. More amenities, such as shops, restaurants, bars and pharmacies, can be found in the surrounding villages.
Beach lovers will be especially excited to visit this stunning region, with long stretches of sand located further north in the locality of Pescoluse (Salve) with numerous lidos offering sun bed rentals. The sandy coast continues for several kilometres touching the towns of Torre Pali, Torre San Giovanni and Gallipoli.
Lecce, a city known for its Baroque architecture and Roman ruins, can be reached in one hour by car and is full of cobbled alleyways that allow you to soak up the charismatic atmosphere. The Basilica di Santa Croce is worth climbing up to, carved and sculpted in a wealth of ornaments – and don’t miss the city’s many squares, domes and the ancient Roman amphitheatre. Here, you’re also exposed to various delicious restaurants, bars and nightclubs when needing a little hustle and bustle.

Best Suited For: All AgesWith abundant beautiful coastlines lined with sandy and rocky beaches, old towns to explore, and a range of water activities, Puglia is an excellent place for families with children.
If the entire family loves spending time by the sea, then the beaches near Torre Pali will provide endless opportunities for unwinding. Spiaggia Marina Di Salve has fine sand and clear water, while Bacino di Torre Pali is a stunning nature reserve with a lagoon and powder-soft sand underfoot. There’s even a small café nearby offering refreshments and plenty of space for sunbathing.
When little ones need a rest from the sun, head to one of the nearby villages – the locals are super friendly here, and there are restaurants and gelaterias.
Alternatively, plan a day trip to Lecce or Brindisi and soak up the architecture when strolling around their old towns. Lecce has many Baroque buildings, lovely squares and public gardens, and a handful of museums – the Railway Museum of Puglia and Museo Sigismondo Castromediano with fossils and artworks worth visiting.
