Overview
Just a ten-minute drive from the Renaissance city of Arezzo, Villa Benvenuta welcomes up to twelve guests to eastern Tuscany. This seven-bedroomed house, with a swimming pool and tennis court set in extensive gardens, is the ideal base for a family break in glorious surroundings.
An airy living space awaits at this Tuscan country villa, with a large open-hearth fireplace and plenty of comfortable seating in front of a television. You’ll find authentic décor throughout, with ornate wooden furniture. One surprising addition to the rooms at Villa Benvenuta is a beautifully preserved chapel on the ground floor.
There are plenty of great spaces for family groups to get together here, particularly at mealtimes, with a dining table and breakfast bar in the well-appointed kitchen. There’s also a separate dining room with a large dining table and a stunning original fireplace. As well as a handy laundry room on the ground floor, Villa Benvenuta boasts an impressive games room with a full-sized billiards table.
With seven bedrooms, each equipped with furniture congruent with the villa’s character. Six bathrooms should ensure guests don’t have to form a queue for a morning shower, giving everyone a chance to get out and enjoy the superb garden. One of the bathrooms features a hydro-massage bathtub that’s a real treat after hiking in the Tuscan hills.
You’ll have a large garden in which to enjoy the Tuscan sunshine, with tall pines gracing the gently sloping lawn – a little snooze in a hammock will recharge your batteries before grabbing your racquets and heading down to Villa Benvenuta’s tennis court! Freshen up under the outdoor shower, grab a bottle of local wine and head for the pool terrace, where you can while away the hours sunbathing – with the occasional dip in the water.
In a stunning region, nearby Arezzo is one of Tuscany’s most beautiful towns. Discover fabulous boutiques, galleries, independent stores, and grocery stores with all the provisions you’ll need for your stay. You’ll be close to some of Italy’s finest wineries, with many offering tasting tours to excite your palate and get you to the heart of Tuscany’s ever-thriving wine-making scene.

Location
About the surrounding area of Villa BenvenutaIn addition to a wealth of grocery stores with all the provisions for your stay at Villa Benvenuta, Arezzo boasts much more and is just ten minutes away by car. You’ll find wonderful trattorias in and around the Piazza Grande, where you can enjoy dishes crafted from the nearby Casentino Valley and Valdichiana – paired with a glass of fine Tuscan wine. Marvel at art ranging from Renaissance-era paintings to modern works in the Museo d’Arte Medievale e Moderna, then enjoy a spot of retail therapy along the town’s picturesque streets, with antique stores, jewellers and boutiques among their number.
An hour’s drive from Villa Benvenuta is the picturesque town of Castiglione del Lago, at the water’s edge of Lake Trasimeno. This town makes for a fantastic day out, where you can see the ancient Palazzo della Corgna, enjoy lunch at trattorias serving wonderful Tuscan dishes, or gather food at the town’s delis and bakeries for a picnic and head to the beach. Hire a pedalo or canoe, or a sun lounger and relax on the lake’s fabulous sandy beach.
Wine lovers flock to Tuscany each year and with good reason. The region’s limestone soils and perfectly balanced climate provide the perfect canvas for centuries of wine-making heritage. Aside from the obvious pleasure of enjoying a glass or two with dinner, there are numerous ways to explore a viticulture that delivers some of the world’s finest labels. Take an e-bike tour around vineyards, step into vast cellars housing the region’s finest offerings, or take a cooking class and learn the intricacies of pairing Tuscan food and wine. You can even book tours of rural wineries with transportation provided – so you can sample as many wines as you like!
The artistic hub of Florence is just an hour away, where the Duomo (or the Cathedral of Saint Mary of the Flower) towers elegantly over the city. Provided you can manage the nine-hundred-step round trip to the top of this fifteenth-century masterpiece and back down again, you’ll enjoy staggering views over the city– and a wealth of options for a well-earned lunch afterwards! If a picnic on the banks of the Arno River is more your thing (you can even try your hand at paddleboarding), the spectacular Mercado Centrale has been home to a phenomenal food market since the nineteenth century. You’ll find a sumptuous array of cheeses, meats, spices and more, and a food court upstairs with something for everyone, ranging from fresh pasta, fried fish and truffles to pizza and refreshing gelato. No day trip to Florence is complete without a visit to the Galleria dell’Accademia, where you can admire Michelangelo’s David, joining the thousands who make the pilgrimage for their obligatory selfies with this five-hundred-year-old masterpiece.

A perfect week away
A very nice house and above all, a beautiful patio seating area which we frequented very much! In between, a refreshing swim, in the evening a game of tennis with the children, and at the end of the day, a game of billiards for the adults. The only downside? A week is too short!
