For example, Certaldo Alto, the home of the famous Italian writer and poet Giovanni Boccaccio is a 20 minute drive from the house. The lesser known but equally beautiful San Miniato is only a 45 minute drive away. The charming cities of Arezzo and Lucca are also just an hour and 20 minutes away by car.

Take a walk up to the Parco della Rocca in San Gimignano where the whole family can marvel at the impressive 360 views. Spend the day in Lucca where you can rent bikes and cycle along the city’s walls and indulge in the delicious gelato offered here.
Alternatively, head to Florence and visit the Uffizi Gallery where you can try out the child friendly treasure hunt. Or spend an afternoon at Il Papiro where the kids can sign up for a paper marbling workshop and get creative! Slightly further afield, roughly one hour away from the property, you can find Il Giardino Volante in Pistoia. The children are sure to adore this playground of art.
