Villa Le Fauci is a traditional 19th century Tuscan farmhouse with a unique design, converted into a luxury holiday rental in one of the lesser known areas of Tuscany, away from all the crowds yet still within a short drive to Volterra and San Gimignano. Here you are surrounded by olive groves, vineyards and golden fields of wheat that patchwork the landscape, where wild boar, foxes and deer roam freely.
This loving restoration has stayed loyal to the villa’s past, maintaining the original terracotta tiles, gorgeous chestnut wood beams and interior stone walls, whilst adding lavish modern furnishings and the large infinity pool to create the perfect marriage of old and new.
It's not just the wonderful open-plan living and dining spaces and four fine en suite bedrooms that will impress you here. Climb up the narrow spiral staircase at the very top and be rewarded with the most wonderful Tuscan views from your very own little lounge above the roof of the house.
Outside, there are some beautiful spots for al-fresco dining or simply enjoying a glass of local wine as you gaze at the lovely landscapes around you. The swimming pool is also inviting with its whirlpool feature and there’s even a little children’s area for youngsters to splash around.
There’s a little village with an authentic restaurant the owner recommends just 1.5km away and typical local shops a little further. For a morning out exploring, head to the historic and enchanting towns of Volterra and San Gimignano or visit the idyllic village of San Miniato. Pisa, Florence and Siena are also perfectly positioned for amazing days out as are a wealth of pretty villages, medieval towns and undulating Tuscan countryside.
Indeed, this region has forever been a place of rest, and was where the Knights Templar would come to soothe mind, body and soul during the time of the Crusades. Come follow this tradition with friends or family, and experience this timeless area of peace and relaxation, steeped in ancient history.
What you should know…
- The spiral staircase leading up to the small panoramic lounge at very top of the house is narrow and steep - small children will need to be supervised.
- If travelling with family or friends, the owner's sister villa, Villa Dania, is around a five-minute drive away whilst Villa Edoardo is 15 minutes by car.
- Please note that the villa is accessed via a dusty road.
- The owner's hotel is next door to the villa, though guests at Villa Le Fauci have complete privacy.

Francesco
What was it about the property that you first fell in love with?
The place is really unique and I are in love right away! I designed the villa and chose all the materials and furnishings, and the result has been wonderful.
Are there any interesting stories in its history?
The villa belonged in antiquity, like many others in this area to a noble family and being on the Via Francigena was also the destination of the Templars who stayed there before leaving for the Holy Land.
Have you ever had any famous guests staying?
If you can call illustrious, I had the sole importer of Coca Cola for Mexico, lived in a beautiful villa in Acapulco, had immense property and said he had 12,000 employees. The coach of (Benetton Rugby Treviso) lived in South Africa. The president of the University of New York and finally a well-known Russian patron who always made me see the photos that depicted him with famous people like, Bush etc. etc.
What’s the strangest or most difficult guest request you’ve ever received?
An English family had four dogs and they were very much in love them to the point of chedermi shoes (for dogs) to be able to swim in the pool. A Texan wanted to land a helicopter in the garden of the villa to go to Florence to buy a pair of Gucci shoes!
For anyone coming to stay is there anything in the surrounding area they should...
Really do? There are so many beautiful things to see in addition to the area which is beautiful. There are several museums: Museum dell'Icone Russe, Etruscan Museum, Museum of civilization, zoological museum, For children there is an interesting Prehistoric Park, a museum of Whales, and finally we are in the area where the tenor Andrea Bocelli (with whom I went to school) and who lives every year in the wonderful scenery of the (Theatre of Silence) performs in another Concerto with major international celebrities of music.
Really eat? Our area is very well served by countless typical restaurants; amongst these, I can make mention of one in particular which is easily accessible on foot (500 mt), and where Paolo (owner and passionate cook) will make you taste typical Tuscan cuisine with his truly exclusive dishes, and will suggest to you which of the excellent, local wines to accompany your meal, all expertly produced by his own company.

An excellent villa
An excellent villa which contained everything needed for an enjoyable holiday. All the furniture is of excellent quality. My husband has mobility issues so the downstairs bedroom and en-suite was perfect for his needs. My 15 month old grandson holidayed with us and as the ground floor and patio of the villa were totally level it was perfect for him to move around easily. The owners of the villa were friendly and very approachable and reacted quickly to any requests we made. Their receptionist Sarah was very helpful but also professional in her attitude towards us. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this villa if you are looking to stay in Tuscany.

Very clean and comfortable
The hosts made us feel very welcome and Villa Le Fauci is very clean and comfortable, well appointed and gorgeous location. There was a bounteous welcome basket upon our arrival of local food to help get us started and the dinner recommendation for the nearby restaurant (walking distance -- we did not bring a car)
specializing in Tuscan cuisine was perfect -- we had a marvellous dinner in a beautiful dining room in a historic villa, the chef/owner prepared a superb six course menu for us and the server was very friendly and attentive. Can you get the rain to go away? -
Large and very well furnished
The villa is very large and very well furnished. Each room has its own bathroom. The pool is beautiful and very clean. Everything is in a fenced garden and in the countryside. At night you only see stars and fireflies. For a fine dinner, an agriturismo and restaurants are nearby.

Everything about the house is just perfect
Francesco was an amazing host and everything about the house is just perfect. The location is good, the house stunning, every single room adorable and all amenities available. We spent 5 days and most of the time indoors as the weather was not great and the house is so warm and cosy so we loved every minute of our stay. Thanks Francesco for everything, we will be back!

Quiet and wonderful surroundings
Friendly and helpful owners. Quiet and wonderful surroundings, ideally placed for day trips to most of the interesting places in Tuscany.

Lovely & Peaceful
Fabulous villa. Peaceful. The pool was the highlight of the holiday and having a couple of little children the effective fencing surrounding it, was most reassuring. we enjoyed day after day of al fresco living. Lovely peaceful surrounding countryside and walks. Do not miss the opportunity to eat the most sumptuous tuscan food at the very informal restaurant at the end of the road (bear left). Great accommodation. Kitchen was though a little small for a large group. The owner and his wife could not have been more kind and friendly. I was astonished even to find the BBQ had been cleaned on the first morning when we came down .
