An exceptional venue for a large gathering of friends or family, Villa Cecconi combines everything you need for a week or two in Tuscany. Situated in sought-after Chianti wine country, within easy reach of Siena and Florence, this former 14th-century watchtower is not only a superb base for exploring Tuscany but an elegant retreat with enough space, style and services to delight guests of all ages.
As you turn off the country road to Villa Cecconi for the first time, you can immediately get a sense of its grandeur. Perfectly spaced, tall cypress trees and colourful rose bushes line the immaculate driveway which leads you up through the gates to a magnificent wisteria covered parking area. Sublime views sweep over vineyards to the towers of San Gimignano in the distance, and the landscaped gardens lead you down to an inviting, large pool area.
Impressive in scale, the accommodation is spread out over three stone buildings. An original medieval watchtower forms the main villa, with its long dining table for 26, the best equipped and largest kitchen, as well as seven spacious bedrooms, each with their bathroom.
Across the garden is an equally well furnished second smaller villa for six guests, perfect for a family or young adults who appreciate their bijou kitchen and living space.
For those who prefer to avoid steps, the self-contained cottage is ideal and thoughtfully adapted for wheelchair access. Each part of the property has been carefully restored to a high level, retaining its original exposed stone walls, terracotta tiles and wooden beamed ceilings, so you have a sense of its historical routes.
A large dining table under a gazebo on the lawn is the dreamy setting for eating the most delicious Tuscan meals together, prepared for you by a local cook if so desired. Budding chefs can enjoy firing up the outdoor pizza oven, and barbecue or fabulous simple dishes can be prepared easily with an array of fresh, seasonal produce from the local markets.
After a morning taking in the sights in Siena or Florence, your private oasis awaits for a refreshing swim in the 16-metre pool or a siesta on a sun lounger. Yoga instructors, massage and beauty treatments can all be arranged for added luxury at the villa.
Please note, we also feature the villa next door: Il Caratello (together they could accommodate larger parties.)
Villa Cecconi is made up of three houses and with 12 bedrooms and 12 bathrooms in total, the entire property can accommodate up to 24 guests.
What you should know…
- As the accommodation is divided over three houses, bedrooms should be chosen prior to arrival so everyone has their preferred option.
- Please note that prices for 14 and 16 guests are only available during selected dates. Please enquire at the time of booking.
- When the 14-guest price is booked guests will have access to 7 bedrooms in the main villa only; when the 16-guests price is booked guests will have access to 8 bedrooms in the main villa and cottage only; when the 24-guest price is booked guests will have access to 12 bedrooms in the main villa, small villa and cottage.
- Guests who prefer step free, ground floor bedrooms can either stay in the smaller villa or the self-contained cottage which both have access for wheelchair.
- The unpaved gravel road leading to the villa is well maintained but unsuitable for low slung vehicles with luggage so hire a sturdier car.

Location
About the surrounding area of Villa CecconiVilla Cecconi is located in Chianti, a region which many consider is the heart of Tuscany. Famous for its delicious Chianti wine and fertile hills, the region is a magnet for wine buffs and foodies alike.
For art history lovers, a visit to Tuscany is to experience at first hand some of the most important settings and artworks from the Italian Renaissance, such as Michelangelo’s David in the Accademia and Brunelleschi’s Duomo.
Many villas in Tuscany take hours to find along bumpy country roads, but Villa Cecconi is easily reached just five drive minutes easy drive from the modern town of Poggibonsi where you will also find a couple of supermarkets. The more historic town of San Gimignano is just 15 minutes away for good restaurants, pizzerias and cafes.
Food plays a central role in Tuscan life so enter into the spirit, find a scenic spot, sip on a glass of Chianti Classico and be sure to try the region’s best seasonal produce. From light tomato Panzanella or Fagioli bean dishes to wild boar stews and fresh pasta, all finished off with mouth-watering cantucci biscuits and Vin santo dessert wine, Tuscan cuisine cannot fail to disappoint. Be sure to visit the farmer's markets in Poggibonsi on Tuesdays or San Gimignano on Thursdays.
For a smooth ride into Florence or Siena, follow the main road from Poggibonsi or leave the car at Poggibonsi station and jump on a local train there. Florence is the larger of the two, with its amazing collection of Renaissance art and architecture, a fantastic range of boutiques and a wide selection of restaurants. Siena is nearer, just a 20-minute drive from the villa. With an array of fabulous churches, galleries, restaurants, Renaissance and Gothic architecture and a stunning central piazza, one visit will not be enough.

Region
The picturesque Siena, located in the heart of Tuscany, Italy, is a mesmerising destination that encapsulates the essence of Italian culture, history, and natural beauty. With its rolling hills, charming medieval towns, and renowned art, Siena offers a captivating experience for travellers. One of the region's most famous attractions is the historic city of Siena itself, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The city's unique feature is the Piazza del Campo, a stunning shell-shaped square that hosts the world-famous Palio di Siena, a thrilling horse race held twice a year. The Torre del Mangia, a towering bell tower, offers panoramic views of the city and surrounding countryside, allowing visitors to fully appreciate Siena's historic and architectural splendour.
Tuscany
With its rolling fields, historical heritage and a cuisine that’s a delight for all the senses, it’s no wonder Tuscany is one of the most popular regions in Italy for holidaymakers. Yet even with its popularity, you can still kick back in one of our luxury villas in Tuscany and feel peace, tranquillity and the joy of seclusion.
This is one destination that really does have a little bit of everything for everyone, whether you’re travelling with family, friends or are just looking for a romantic getaway with that special someone.
Kids
Best Suited For: All AgesVilla Cecconi is a memorable setting for a family holiday with children who love the outdoors. Little ones will adore running around the flat lawns by the villa and on the lower terrace by the pool. At 16 metres, the pool is large enough for swimming lengths and hours of fun can be had to play ball games there.
For many, a villa holiday is a welcome break from screen time, but for others, it is a chance to catch up with friends or watch sports, so wifi and satellite TV at the villa is a welcome addition. On hot summer days, you can keep cool as all the rooms are air-conditioned too.
The villa has its outdoor pizza oven so children can enjoy having a go at baking their favourite pizzas using delicious fresh Italian tomatoes and cheese. For a real taste of Tuscan home cooking, there are some wonderful local restaurants where children are always welcome, or a cook can come over and prepare delicious meals for you in the more intimate setting of your home which is always a memorable experience.
There are so many interesting places to explore in the area with the top two being Siena and Florence. Head through Siena’s winding cobbled streets to the impressive main square which is the setting of the famous Palio horse race.
The choice of places to visit in Florence can be overwhelming. Visiting galleries can be balanced with a trip to the magnificent Boboli gardens for a stroll or picnic. After a morning admiring artworks at the Uffizi, the promise of a generous helping of creamy gelato in a cone or large bowl of fresh pasta at a local trattoria cannot fail to delight children of all ages.

Amazing!
Amazing check in and welcome at Villa Cecconi.

Great family holiday
Loved the villa, position, pool, staff especially Caterina. The pool was a long way from the villa when you forget something but lovely. Great dining area inside and outside. The kitchen would benefit from some sharp knives. The stairs lighting could be better and there are some tricky little steps.
However we had a great family holiday in a gorgeous villa.
The owners have since put a highlighting band on the stairs to make them more visible and sharpened the steak knives (not the standard ones as these are used by many children). -
