Overview
This lavishly renovated tower-turned-villa in Umbria has luxurious touches at every turn. Each guest will find their own pleasure; fitness lovers will hit the sauna and gym and the media room will enchant movie buffs. Bookworms will bury themselves in the extensive English library, while the chef of the family will perfect their pizza at the outdoor stone oven. All this, set above rolling hills at the border of Tuscany and Lazio.
This holiday villa is split between two buildings, with a courtyard between. The original 13th century tower spreads over four floors - to avoid the stairs, choose one of the ground floor bedrooms in the other building. The grounds were designed by a famous Italian landscape artist. Here, beneath a pergola dripping with leaves, you'll gaze out past the infinity pool to mountains beyond. Imagine breakfast on the stone terrace beside the sunroom - perfezione!
Overlooking the national park of Monte Rufeno, this holiday villa is set on a vast estate and is world apart from city life. Still, it's accessible - just 9 km from the A1 Autostrada connecting Rome and Florence. The nearest town is a precious medieval village above the Tiber whilst other idyllic places to visit include Città della Pieve, Orvieto and the wonderful waters of Lago di Bolsena.
Those wishing to explore a little further afield have Montepulciano, Cortona and Siena just over an hour away or take the train to Arezzo or Rome for the day.

- The eight bedrooms are spread across two buildings - see the Features for details of the layout.
- Air-conditioning is featured in all bedrooms as well as the annexe's living room.
- The huge estate features olive groves, vineyards, the owner's farm and vast land where an ancient breed of cattle graze. Bisenzio Farmhouse is also on the large estate, a short drive away.
- The pool is not fenced, so children should be supervised when outdoors.

Location
About the surrounding area of Bisenzio TowerSituated close to the Umbrian border with Lazio and Tuscany, Bisenzio Tower overlooks the stunning scenery of the Monte Rufeno national park in Umbria, the green heart of Italy. It's set in a large estate with vineyards, olive groves and an ancient breed of cattle who graze on the land. The on-site farm produces excellent wine, olive oil and high-quality beef, all organically certified.
Indeed, the whole area is a food lover’s paradise. Umbria is home to the world famous salty Pecorino cheese, chestnuts, truffles and crisp dry Orvieto wine. Some of Italy’s finest wine areas are on the doorstep and there are many small family-run vineyards which welcome visitors.
A haven of peace and tranquillity, yet you are also conveniently located just 9km from the A1 Autostrada between Rome and Florence. This means easy access to fascinating places including Orvieto, Arrezzo, Assisi, Cetona, Montepulciano, Perugia, Siena and Spoleto as well as the lakes of Bolsena and Trasimeno.
Rome is two hours away on the Autostrada, and served by regular trains from the local town, which is just a 10-minute drive from Torre. Highlights include the Vatican City, Roman Forum, Colosseum and Spanish Steps.
Florence is about an hour and a half drive away and is also on the train line from the local town. Highlights include the Uffizi Gallery, Ponte Vechio, Boboli Garden and Pitti Palace.
Siena is an hour and twenty minutes drive away, and again reachable by train. Visit the beautiful Campo square where twice a year (2nd July, 16th August) the world famous Palio takes place – a horse race dating back to the 1600s.

Best Suited For: All AgesThere are some wonderful walks through the estate, following white roads across vineyards, olive trees and beyond (some of the trails leading to local small villages are better suited to experienced hikers).
There is also horse-riding just 2km from the estate with horses for all abilities; a great way to see the landscapes of his stunning area.
The historic treasures of many of the local towns and villages will delight younger guests. Orvieto is especially beautiful and there’s a map you can download with all the town’s highlights and even playgrounds for little ones. The town’s underground caves are also an exciting place to visit.
You are near some of the great lakes of the area. Lago di Bolsena, for example, offers lake swimming, boat trips, castles, churches and watersports such as kayaking, water-skiing, boating, and sailing.
The nearby Riserva Naturale Monte Rufeno offers wonderful spots for picnics, wildlife spotting, walking and at the far southern end there’s an interesting little nature museum, Museo Del Fiore, which is sometimes open and a great place for nature trails. The fascinating Torre Alfina Castle is also worth a visit in its spectacular setting.

We so enjoyed EVERYTHING
My husband and I and 4 other life long couple friends just stayed at Tower last week. I wanted to personally thank you for creating such a special place. I have waited a few days to write to have a little perspective so that I don’t sound giddy! We so enjoyed EVERYTHING-the VIEW, the layout of the house, the largesse of it all. Every considerate detail. Additionally, your team-Sabina, Cynthia, and Vanessa were outstanding. (Dream Team!) We also did the cooking lesson and wine blending event-so much fun! I cannot imagine a more perfect place to gather.

My husband and I stayed at Tower with our family from August 17th to August 31st. We had a wonderful stay. You and your husband have done a fantastic job in the renovation of the villa and the development of the agricultural estate. It is a beautiful place. We also very much appreciated the care that Cynthia took in making sure that everything was working well and that we were settled in our arrangements. She made local calls for us regarding restaurants and gave us very helpful information in connection with excursions we made to local towns. She also made sure we had everything we needed. The Villa is incredible
We hired the Tower from 6 July to 13th July for my wife’s birthday. What can I say? - The Villa is incredible - you and Mike have done a terrific job. - The garden is amazing. Lamberto and his team keep it looking fantastic; - Cynthia and Sabina and the two house-ladies really looked after us well. Nothing was a bother and they all went out of their way to make sure that we had a wonderful holiday. - Cynthia’s cooking is - well - delicious beyond description. I am going to try to recreate her Parmigiana this afternoon. I fear it will be no-where as good as hers. - The pizza night was especially memorable. Neena, please pass on our thanks to all concerned.

We sadly just left paradise. We had an amazing trip. And while the villa was perfect the best part of the experience was Cynthia and Sabina- they took care of us with such warmth, love and kindness. Tower exceeded our expectations
Tower exceeded our expectations, which were already very high given what we knew about it. The property is completely stunning -the pictures are lovely but don't do it justice. The two buildings sit on the crest of a hill, surrounded by vineyard/farm and the hills of Umbria. Cynthia, the manager, was particularly helpful in making our week so wonderful. Together with her colleagues, she gave us good advice about activities in the surrounding area and made us feel completely at home - she does an amazing job tailoring the experience of the place to the needs of her clients.

We stayed with family and friends in your wonderful villa last week. I just wanted to say how much we all loved our holiday, we think your house is quite out of this world and probably one of the nicest houses we have ever rented. You must totally love it and you have created a wonderful and breathtaking property. Cynthia is an absolute credit to you and I can’t thank her enough for everything she did to make our holiday 100% perfect and happy. We highly recommend the Tower!
We chose this villa since it seemed a good fit for a group of seven adults and five children (ages 8 and younger). We were drawn to this villa for its amazing hilltop views and we were not disappointed; it is just as beautiful, if not more so, in person. Cynthia was very helpful and made our stay comfortable and pleasant. We were pleasantly surprised by the technology in the villa, such as the range and quality of the wi-fi, and wireless Sonos speakers. Overall the villa provides an elegant combination of function and charm. There are many spaces in this villa that are good for gathering, inside and outside, including the pool, which we all loved. We highly recommend the Tower!

It has been a real joy to spend 15 days in your marvelous ‘Tower’. We and our friends are very impressed by everything we experienced there. The place, the sight, the sunrise, Cynthia and her family, the service, the sky (blue or cloudy), the bedrooms, the swimming pool, the great garden (so beautiful) , the lavander, the oven place, your wine, everything is just perfect. So just thank you for building such a wonderful place on earth. I hope we will have a chance to come back next year.

EVERYTHING WAS BEYOND ALL EXPECTATIONS
We were there three generations: eight adults and four children. This was a wonderful vacation, the Home is so impressive, beautiful, welcoming and convenient. One can tell that the owners really love the place, and that they have invested there not only money. EVERYTHING WAS BEYOND ALL EXPECTATIONS - The bedrooms, the kitchen, the playrooms, the outdoors, the pool. Everything spotlessly clean and wonderfully furnished. The views 360 degrees are stunning, the garden is beautiful. We also found it very easy to adjust and we found anything we looked for in seconds... as if we have always lived there. Cynthia was so warm and helpful, and we really felt at home. Thank you so much for this wonderful experience.
