Overview
Sitting inside the ancient walls of Spello town, Casa Fidelio View offers an atmospheric place to stay with unrivalled views over the surrounding towns and rolling hills. Here, you will have an authentic day-to-day life experience in a small Italian town.
Set over three floors, this home from the 1600s is packed with charm and character. Inside, you will find the original cobble and terracotta floors, open fireplaces, vaulted and beamed ceilings and shuttered windows. Everywhere you look, you will see period features which make the home feel cosy and welcoming.
Due to the property's age, the layout is unique; the home has two entrances, which means it can be split into two apartments if you would prefer. If you enter the house from the ground floor, you will find a workspace, a large living room with two sofa beds and a well-equipped kitchen. Winding through from the kitchen, there is a lovely patio with a dining space that offers fantastic views. On the first floor, there is another living area: an open-plan room with a kitchen, dining table, and sofa; this is a great friendly space where you can gather together. One of the home's bedrooms is on this floor, while the large double room is on the second-floor mezzanine level. The home can sleep eight guests when utilising the comfy sofa beds.
As well as the abundant historic features, the house is filled with everything the modern family would need. Casa Fidelio View has been fully renovated and offers Wi-Fi, air conditioning, Smart TVs, contemporary kitchens and three bathrooms.
Guests of the home will feel truly welcomed by the owners, who strive to provide everything to make your trip even more relaxing. Welcome baskets brimming with local produce, kitchens laden with breakfast products, and workspaces with desks and chargers await you so you can travel light. If you would like to book extra services such as a private chef or laundry, this can also be arranged for you.
Though the villa is within the town walls, it even boasts a rare garden! Outdoors, the pretty terrace has an al-fresco dining area which overlooks the surrounding countryside and towards Assisi.
When you wish to explore the local area, it could be challenging, as the house is located in Spello, which is regarded as one of Italy's most beautiful towns. On your doorstep, you have a maze of picturesque, winding streets packed with shops, eateries, and historic buildings. Museums, medieval churches and various fantastic events can be discovered here in Spello. The town is also an excellent base for entering the undulating Umbrian countryside and visiting other towns and cities like Assisi and Perugia.

Location
About the surrounding area of Casa Fidelio ViewWith cobbled streets filled with floral displays, which wind around into pretty piazzas, Casa Fidelio View is a beautiful base for those wishing to spend their holiday in one of Umbria's most picturesque towns.
If you are searching for somewhere to stay during your trip to Umbria, the town of Spello is hard to beat. Sitting on a hilltop which looks down over the green hills and the little villages in the surrounding area, the town is rated as one of Italy's most beautiful. The villa sits within the ancient walls which enclose the historic centre, meaning you only need to walk a few paces to discover a wealth of amenities and attractions.
If you plan to take it slow on your break, you could spend the whole time in Spello and the immediate vicinity of the town. The centre has many restaurants, from rustic inns to fine dining eateries. The lively piazzas are also lined with cafes with tables pouring out into the fountain-filled streets and plenty of bars where you can sip a glass of local wine in the evening. There are also many shops here, including delis, craft shops and supermarkets, so you do not need to get in the car to pick up some groceries or souvenirs.
Aside from the great amenities, Spello also has a wealth of attractions for visitors. As the town started as a Roman settlement, there is plenty to see here! There are the original town walls and gates, Roman villas packed with staggering mosaics and ornate churches dotted around the town. You can also learn more about the town's history at the Civic Museum and the Palaeontology Museum. If you enjoy hearing stories of times gone by and searching for hidden gems in a town, why not book a walking tour with a knowledgeable guide?
If you plan to visit Spello in June, participate in a wonderful event called the Infiorata. This community festival focuses on flowers; you can see the streets filled with artworks made from thousands of flower petals. Visitors are also able to contribute by joining in with guest displays.
If you want to get out to the countryside, you do not have to travel far to find scenic walking trails, mountain biking routes and horseback riding expeditions through dense woodlands. Umbria is known as Italy's "Green Heart", so those with a car will have many opportunities to get out an explore some of the lush countryside. Wine tastings at family-run vineyards and beach days at Lake Trasimeno are also great options for day trips.
If you want to visit some of the other notable towns and cities in the area, you could drive to Assisi, just 11km away and Perugia, which is 31km away.

Owner Profile
• When did you become the owner?
October 26th 2022
• What was it about the property that you first fell in love with?
What made me fall in love first of all was the context where the property is located, in the small hamlet of Spello, in an extremely quiet area. I felt in love with the view that can be seen from every room, the large size of the rooms and the light inside them. Finally I love that there are still original structural elements in the ancient house.
• Are there any interesting stories in its history?
The house dates back to 1600, the hamlet of the village in which it is located is adjacent to the Urbica gate called "Porta Fontevecchia" and the surrounding walls. It was the support point for those who worked on the Gate and led to the main water source, still active today and visible on the road.
Initially the structure was not a house but an alleyway between the town and outside the walls. The arches of the ceilings and the floor set with the original stones of the alley can still be seen, well preserved in the entrance and in a kitchen.
• Have you ever had any famous guests staying?
Yes, but for private reasons I can't say which ones, but I can say politicians, singers, journalists.
• For anyone coming to stay, is there anything you suggest that they really…
Must do? A walk among the olive trees, there are many paths.
- Must eat? Umbrian cured meats, Chianina meat, our DOC Muraiolo olive oil, our red wines
- Must see? The Baglioni Chapel by Pinturicchio in the church of Santa Maria, the mosaics dating back to Roman times, the discovery of a home of a rich family of the time.

A very pleasant stay with the perfect hostess. Nothing is missing. Highly recommended.

Tidy, clean and strategically located
The apartment is splendid, with attention to the smallest details, you can feel the owner's soul and her passions. The location is strategic, in a very quiet area and in the historic center. We found everything tidy and very clean. We were warmly welcomed and given all the necessary information. Upon our arrival she made us find many thoughts... We felt at home! There were several single portions for breakfast, water, chocolates... Excellent value for quality. Silvia was always available by telephone and ready for every need. The only flaw... we stayed too little!! Thanks again, for a return to Spello this place will be a guarantee!

Stunning property
Casa Fidelio is an absolutely stunning place. Each room has its own unique decor and charm. The owner is lovely.

Exceeded our expectations
Our stay at Casa Fidelio far exceeded our expectations. The photos undersell the amazing view and thoughtfulness of the interior design. The house is very cool despite the hot temperatures outside. The owner and her friend both made a lovely impression on us, and it felt like we were staying with friends. She has thought of everything and left us several very nice gifts from the local region. We even did a cooking class in the house. Spello is an amazing city with its own charm and history. We can’t wait to visit again.

It’s an absolute gem
WOW. Incredible host and this is an incredible house. She could not have been more kind, starting with insisting on having her kind and friendly assistant pick us up from the train station. The host gave us a detailed tour of the magnificent and historic 3-floor house. The photos do not capture the beauty of the house and the incredible view from the back porch. The rooms were comfortable, especially the ground floor bedroom with its own bathroom that leads into a small kitchen and out to the porch. There’s a larger kitchen and small bedroom and bathroom on first floor and loft bedroom with bathroom on 2nd floor. Lots of comfortable room for me and 3 teenagers. Fully stocked kitchen. She left plentiful snacks and coffee in both kitchens and even a gift of wine and olive oil. Best host ever. Temperature comfortable on all floors though 1st floor bedroom is small and got a bit warm (there are fans). I can’t recommend this place enough - it’s an absolute gem.

Can't wait to come back
The owner was great throughout the process. It started when she first reached out to learn if my family had any allergies (she provided food for breakfast, snacks, and drinks). She arranged for someone to meet us and guide us to Casa Fidelio (Spello can be a little tricky). Once there her husband gave us a tour and provided instructions on what to do in cases of emergency. There was also a friend there that helped us get situated and even volunteered to come over and teach us to cook and authentic Italian meal. The place was absolutely beautiful. It was quiet and spacious and the multiple bathrooms were a major bonus. The owner was great with communication. She checked in with us regularly to make sure we were comfortable and that things were working properly (there was a big storm the 2nd night and some places lost power). Thanks to her husband we knew exactly what to do to get everything up and running again. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and can’t wait to come back.

A fairytale stay
The location, the furnishings and attention to detail in everything. The owner was fantastic. We highly recommend it to anyone who wants to spend a happy stay in Spello.

This is a house to fall in love with
The views of the Perugino hills and cypress tree countryside allow one to breathe a deep calm. The house itself is full of historical significance and the onsite person's attention to detail and beauty is without compare. The house is stocked with everything you need from toothbrushes to cookies/biscuits to milk and jam and tea and coffee. The kitchens have plates and cups and glasses and pots and pans and coffee machines/tea kettle and the furniture is comfortable. The only danger is you may never want to leave.

To be chosen for the location, comfort and passion of the owners.
The owners are very kind, helpful and efficient. The apartment is equipped with every comfort, attention to detail and tastefully furnished, you really feel at home. There are no things I didn't like.

Perfect stay for an escape from the frenzy of the city. A splendid house in a village from times gone by
Loved everything!! I'm having a hard time finding anything I didn't like. The host is excellent, the house is well looked after in every aspect and very functional. It is rarely possible to combine the aesthetic aspect with the functional one but she succeeded.
-
Exceptional
Beautiful accommodation with a great view. You definitely have to enjoy the sunset from the loggia. Lovingly furnished down to the last detail, in the kitchen, in addition to breakfast, olive oil etc. is also available. The hostess is very friendly and helpful and always available. We hope to come back soon.

Highly recommended!!! Top cleaning! Spectacular house
Highly recommended!!! Top cleaning! Spectacular house + The owner waited until late for our arrival, welcoming us with a smile. He showed us the house and also told us about the historical part of the structure. In the house there is every comfort, with attention to the smallest details and for every need (even the make-up remover pads and the sewing set!!). The house is wonderful, impeccably clean with a breathtaking view. The host is always present and available without ever being inappropriate. Certainly the highest rating for a stay to be recommended and repeated.

The stay was wonderful
Spello is even more enchanting by staying in this beautiful house with attention to detail.
The host warmly welcomes you by making herself available.
Relaxation, cleanliness and 5-star courtesy.
I will definitely come back

Everything I needed
Without a doubt, I recommend this house where I spent peaceful and restful days. Tastefully furnished, I found everything I needed for my vacation. The host is always available and kind. Do not miss the breakfast with a view. It is located in the upper part of Spello with a nearby car park, which is a very important fact for the place. We went for a romantic getaway but it is suitable for both families and a group of friends.
Don't miss out! Reserve now and get a full refund if you change your mind within 48hrs.
