The Old World is alive at this historic villa in Umbria, whose ancient stone courtyard is surrounded by meadows, woods vineyards, and olive groves. A recent restoration has welcomed this abandoned 11th century church and 18th century farmhouse into the present; now the property enjoys a second life as a working organic farm. Inside you’ll find old stone walls, standing in perfect contrast with the plush furniture and modern fixtures. Especially stunning - the grand piano, shining beneath the old beams of a vaulted ceiling!
Villa Chiesa is a stunning 11th century church and 18th century farm house, restored in 2012. The property is divided into two structures, the first the ancient church and the second the farm house. The main church area has been restored to the exact proportion of the original, together with a recently discovered small crypt. The large floor to ceiling glass window provides a spectacular view of the surrounding countryside. There is a stunning drawing room in the main section of the church. These rooms are furnished with comfortable sofas and a grand piano, and it is wonderful for relaxation, yoga or meditation as well as a great entertainment space.
The farmhouse is a beautiful restored large building on two levels, surrounded by terraces and located across a small courtyard from the church. It features eight bedrooms and six bathrooms: five en-suite double bedrooms, one double and two single bedrooms.
What you should know…
- There’s a wheelchair accessible bedroom suite on the first floor.
- Guests wishing to use the tennis court must book in advance of their arrival.
- Each bedroom can have either two single beds or one large double bed.
- The estate has its own private tennis court. Guests wishing to use this facility must book in advance of their arrival.
- There is a wheelchair access point to both the swimming pool and the main part of the property that can be negotiated via wheel chair with no steps. Parts of the road is uneven however. About the surrounding area of Villa ChiesaVilla Chiesa is located in the heart of Umbria, only a half hour north of the cosmopolitan city of Perugia and close to the borders of Tuscany.
It is located near Monte Tezio in a protected valley where the wildlife is abundant and nature is thriving. The views from all directions are stunning. To the south is Monte Subasio and the town of Assisi. To the west is the ancient castle of Antognolla, and to the north are woodlands and the mountains ranges of the Appenines.
The valley itself is outstanding in natural beauty. The mountains of Monte Tezio rise high above it, and forests and olive groves follow down to the valley where there are beautiful streams and a wonderful vineyard. This is great countryside for horse riding and walking as well as for trying local food and wine.
Villa Chiesa is very well located to the amenities of the local area. It is only 1 km from the small village of La Bruna. The village of Pierantonio is a 5 minute drive, and the larger market town of Umbertide is a ten minute drive. All of these towns have shops, restaurants, banks and more and are easy to reach.
The main road of the E45 is only a 5 minute drive away and allows guests to visit the many attractions of the nearby area as well as in Tuscany, Le Marche and southern Umbria.
Visitors to the area are able to enjoy the highlights of Assisi and Gubbio. It is very much a thriving local area. There is a vibrant market weekly in Umbertide. Wild boar hunts take place in the valley weekly in the season, and many local fiestas are held throughout the year. Visitors are very much welcomed.
The University city of Perugia is only a 20 minute drive and provides all the larger services such as rail, bus and air connections as well as the famous festivals such as Umbria Jazz.
Only 2 km from the property is Antognolla Golf Estate, which boasts a challenging golf course and a wonderful restaurant.
Lake Trasimeno is a short half hour drive and there guests can enjoy a large variety of watersports, take a ferry across to one of the Islands, visit many of the lovely towns that surround the lake and eat at some of the wonderful restaurants that serve fresh lake fish.

An atmospheric ceremony in a restored eleventh century Umbrian chapel, with rose lined arched doorway and trailing fragrant rosemary, just has to be the ultimate in romance.
Its floor to ceiling glass window shines light on proceedings and frames stunning views of meadows, olive groves, vineyards and wooded hills. The adjacent old stone farmhouse near Perugia is luxuriously modernised with sumptuous furnishings and there’s even a grand piano for talented guests to try out after a glass or two of fine wine. There are many so many magical choices here for the intimate wedding or for celebrations on a larger scale.

Wedding Ceremony
A symbolic ceremony for up to 60 guests can take place on site either in the villa’s chapel or up to 100 people in the grounds under a marquee. A civil ceremony is possible in the local towns which are 10-20 minutes away. The owners can provide the details of an English-speaking celebrant.
Wedding Reception
Up to 100 people can be seated in the grounds of the villa, with a hired marquee. There are also alternative locations inside and outside the villa for up to 60 people. Dancing for up to 60 people can take place inside the chapel or the marquee can accommodate up to 100. Music can continue until the event finishes – at the latest 3am.
Additional Fees for Events
The venue charges an additional fee to be paid direct, please enquire for details.
Wedding Planning
The venue can provide an event planner or the client may provide their own. The venue can suggest suppliers and arrange most extra help for the day.
Catering
The venue can provide in-house catering (for up to 20 people) or the client may choose their an external caterer.
Wedding Packages
Day before and after events are permitted at an extra cost, please enquire for details. Other bespoke services include planning, furniture hire, marquee hire and extra cleaning. The venue tries to be as flexible as possible (all services are subject to an extra cost).
Where To Stay
Up to 14 people can sleep at the property. Nearby, up to 50 more guests could find accommodation within 4km of the venue. The owners are able to supply details of local transport firms.

The property is partially wheelchair accessible - please enquire. There is complimentary parking on-site. There is limited accessibility via public transportation, guests may need rideshares or taxis.
Venue Back-Up
In the case of bad weather, dinner and dancing can take place under a marquee in the grounds or in the chapel.

The venue has a range of suppliers for clients to use, but clients are also able to bring their own suppliers.

Absolutely stunning!
Villa Chiesa is absolutely stunning!! I will be having my wedding here in September and got the chance to see the gorgeous villa this past week. Chrissie, David, Alessandra and the rest of the team are absolutely amazing! We went to the Vineria and tried the delicious food and the service was phenomenal! They have delicious olive oil, truffle salt, truffle pepper, wine and more! I highly recommend spending time here and experiencing the beauty yourself!

If we could give Villa Chiesa 50 Stars, we would! David and Chrissie have created something nearly impossible: an experience at once so luxurious you feel like royalty and yet so comfortable you feel like family.
We were a group of 10, ranging from 78 to 8 years old, and all of us had an amazing experience. The rooms are perfectly appointed—each with luxurious beds and spacious, modern bathrooms. The kitchen is world-class, and the living spaces are intimate, yet expansive. The staff (especially Lisa and Donata) are friendly, open, and attentive—without ever being intrusive.
From the first communication, the entire staff were professional, thorough, and organized. They've refined the art of hospitality, leaving no detail unattended to—making the entire experience enjoyable and stress free.
Even better, the valley and surrounding area is as wonderful as the house. Just outside the font gate, there are trails galore for running or walking. An amazing restaurant sits at the end of the dirt road, 7 minutes away. And Assisi and Gubbio—two Umbrian jewels—are an easy (and beautiful) 35-minute drive away.
I could go on, but trust us: the experience that awaits you is even better than you’re imagining when daydreaming at the pictures.

We had the absolute pleasure of spending an unforgettable week at the stunning Villa Chiesa, and we are even more overjoyed to have celebrated our wedding there.
The venue is set in an extraordinarily beautiful location, blending classical elegance with modern comforts while staying true to its original architecture. Every corner of the property is immaculately clean and meticulously maintained. We were completely captivated by the charm and character of each room. The villa offers spacious, private areas with breathtaking views, creating a perfect setting for relaxation and celebration.
The kitchen, in particular, felt like it was straight out of our Italian countryside dreams—fully equipped with everything we needed for a comfortable stay.
The team of staff was exceptional, maintaining the property to the highest standards and always on hand to assist with any requests. Special thanks to Chrissie and David, the venue managers, who were incredibly warm, welcoming, and went above and beyond to ensure our stay was flawless.
Our wedding planner, Alessandra, was also amazing, orchestrating every detail of our special day with incredible care and expertise, ensuring everything came together seamlessly.
We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect place to celebrate such a special occasion. -

Staying at Villa Chiesa is living an Italian dream. Nestled in valley of vines and fields, amongst blooming jasmine and oleander, you will find yourself emmersed in complete beauty. Walk down a cyprus path to dip in a perfect pool, wander the olive trees and vines, discover a lettuce garden on your walk to a bubbling fountain, spend your time deciding in which beautiful outdoor seating area to sit for your morning cappuccino or your evening glass of wine.
Beyond the beauty that the grounds and villa have to offer, the area is full of medieval villages to discover, there is a winery to dine at or do tastings within 400m, and another excellent restaurant within a very short drive. The villa managers and their wonderful staff are there for you and your every question or request. They provide thoughtful, exceptional hospitality. Everyone went above and beyond to our family for a gorgeous holiday, and a very special intimate wedding ceremony and celebration. Now all we do is reminsce, and wish ourselves back as soon as we can...
A few special notes: The winery offers box wine that is large format, affordable, and delicious for enjoying by the pool or while star gazing. The villa also is beautifully equipped for children, we had 3 children from 10 months to 3 years, and they loved the swing set, toys and books provided. They also had pack and plays, baby baths, and a monitor to use! We highly recommend the truffle hunt followed by a chef's tasting menu at the winery, and booking their wonderful chef Francesca to cook you a local steak at the villa! And also quite importantly, we had a visit to a nearby hospital during our stay for our small child, and we felt completely guided and supported by the managers, who helped us navigate that visit and the billing afterwards. They are all wonderful people.

It is a beautiful venue for any particular group occasion—lovely walks and plenty of activities in the area or relaxing by the pool.
The service, wine food and activities were all exceptional and a week that won't be forgotten.

It is an absolute gem of a place and I couldn’t recommend them enough
5 stars are not enough! It is hard to put into words how magical of a destination Villa Chiesa is. During our week long stay, we hosted our wedding, wine tasting and pizza party, as well as a pool party here. Every event was flawless. The landscape is overwhelmingly beautiful and perfectly curated. Everything about the accommodations, winery, landscape, and food is done perfectly and intentionally. The management and staff are wonderful. During our week long stay, we never had a need go unmet. We were blown away by the generosity of the Chrissie, David, and Alessandra, as well as the other staff members. We met the most beautiful people in Italy here. All of our guests boasted about how delicious the food and wine was, and how beautiful the wedding was. We couldn’t agree more! I have traveled to many places and have never had service quite like that offered at Villa Chiesa. It is an absolute gem of a place and I couldn’t recommend them enough. There is nothing negative to say, only beautiful things about this destination. We could only be so lucky to have the opportunity to return again!

We will never forget our experience here
Villa Chiesa was a dream come true for my husband and I who travelled abroad for our wedding in September 2023. Alessandra who helped plan our wedding spent a great deal of time with us in the lead up - nothing was ever too much. David and Chrissy were both so lovely and very accommodating to our every need. Our wedding day was everything we had hoped for and it was wonderful to have our families stay with us at the venue for the week. We were all able to enjoy activities such as, truffle hunting & wine tasting and a pizza party by the pool. Every detail was perfect. We will never forget our experience here and we would recommend Villa Chiesa to everyone!
