Location
About the surrounding area of Villa BeurlingVilla Buerling is located in the middle of the Santa Maria Valley in Mellieha, the northernmost town in Malta, perfectly positioned in the heart of the Mediterranean Sea. The villa is a short thirty-five minute drive from Malta’s international airport and within easy driving distance of Malta’s best sights and attractions. The island of Malta is steeped in history, dating back as far as five thousand and five hundred and fifty years ago, home to three UNESCO World Heritage Sites, seven megalithic temples, and neolithic architecture, and a few windmills too. The old traditional village of Mellieha is but a short walk away and will give you a taste of local Maltese life, with welcoming cafés, bars, and restaurants, shops and stores. Mellieha is blessed with Malta’s longest beach, the beautiful Ghadira Bay, with its white sands and calm sea. If you like walking, the area has many hiking trails, trek to the nearby Ghajn Znuber Observation Tower, or the Il-Majjistral Nature & History Park and spot the herons and egrets, or to il-Mizieb and follow the rugged coast of the Marfa Ridge. Other notable landmarks include an air raid shelter, St Agatha’s Red Tower, Coral Lagoon, Our Lady of the Grotto, numerous old churches, and many more beautiful beaches, especially Paradise, Riviera and Anchor Bays.
For those wanting to travel further afield; Take the thirty-minute ferry crossing from Mellieha to the island of Gozo, known as the pearl of the Med. Here you can relax on beautiful sandy beaches, or if you are feeling more active, visit the UNESCO Ggantija neolithic temples, older than the pyramids and Stonehenge. Have a day out with a drive to Rabat Mdina and see the Roman ruins, visit the San Antoni Palace and Gardens, explore St Paul’s cathedral and catacombs, or stroll around the thirteenth century Palazzo Falzon and Santa Sofia. All aboard the Marsalforn, a trackless train, where you can enjoy views of the stunning Maltese coastline. No visit to Malta is complete without a visit to the capital Valetta, a forty-minute drive from the villa. Here you will find a walled city founded by the Knights of St John, dating from the 1500’s, full of baroque churches and cathedrals, the beautiful Upper Barrakka Gardens, where a cannon is fired every day at noon, and an old town with winding streets full of luxurious shops, cafes, bars and restaurants where you can sample the best of the local Maltese cuisine. Go further south to see the famous Wardija Towers, thirteen fortifications guarding the coast; tilt at windmills, including the still working Tax-Xarolla; and swim, snorkel or rock climb the walls of the renowned Blue Grotto, a collection of sea caverns in the town of Zurrieq. Malta is famous for its many film sets; release your inner Jon Snow with a visit to the Game of Thrones location, and your holiday is complete!

Region
There are so many reasons visitors fall head over heels in love with Malta. Not only is the sunny Mediterranean island home to stunning beaches and beautiful landscapes, it’s also a paradise for guests seeking authentic cultural experiences and rich heritage.
Starting with Malta’s capital, Valletta, a handsome city dating back to the 16th century that has earned its title as a UNESCO World Heritage site with its ornate architecture and baroque Saint John's Co-Cathedral. During the day, sip coffee on the café terraces of Pjazza Regina then watch the city come to life in the evening as locals gather across the historic centre to dine al-fresco and party into the night – Strada Stretta is the place to be!
With a history spanning over 7000 years, Malta is a dream for historians of every age. Come across old forts and towers as you explore the coastline as well as fascinating museums in villages and towns. Head back further in time as you admire the island’s incredible archaeological sites including the megalithic temples of Hagar Qim and Mnajdra.
Then there’s the blue-flag beaches and swimming opportunities – with an average of 300 days of sunshine per year, there’s plenty of time to enjoy the island’s varied coastline. From Ghadira Bay in the north with its sandy shores and shallow water to the rocky coastline around Il-Kalanka for jumping and snorkelling, there are so many idyllic spots to choose from. Don’t forget that Malta is also home to some of the most beautiful and clear European waters for diving.
Culturally, there is so much to experience such as the vibrant Carnival just before Lent as well as music festivals and village events across the summer. During the second weekend of October, one of Malta’s oldest cities is magically lit up by candlelight during Birgufest whilst there are plenty of enchanting celebrations around Christmas time.
There’s no shortage of fine food to be savoured across Malta – dining out is a wonderful way to experience true Maltese hospitality. Cuisine is inspired by the Mediterranean, Sicily and even North Africa yet it has its distinct identity too, usually accompanied by traditionally baked Maltese bread, a staple of the diet. Come across delicious pastizzi and ftira biz-zejt alongside cheeses, olive oil, sea-salt and honey infused with thyme, all delectable delights that have been produced across the island for centuries.
Kids
Best Suited For: All AgesThere's lots for your kids to see and do across Malta, and as it's a relatively small island it's easy to access all of the activities. Let's start at home with your villa, with its private pool in which to swim and splash. For keeping out of the sun or whiling away evenings, the villa has flat screen TVs in all the rooms, Bluetooth speakers, and a DVD player great for some fun and games. In the local area there are numerous lovely beaches, the nearest is the soft white sands of the beautiful Ghadira Bay, with low tides and calm seas, perfect for a family day building sandcastles and some fun in the sun. Other nearby family-friendly beaches include Rivera, Anchor, Paradise, Armier, Slugs, Little Armier, Mellieha and Imgiebah Bays – one for each day of the week. There is also local woodlands and hiking trails, with a picnic spot at L-Ahrax, St Paul's Island, and old army barracks and air-raid shelters. Nearby discover the natural flora and fauna of the island at the Foresta 2000 Riserva & Koperattiva Rurali Manikata, where you can enjoy a day trip through fields and farms. Mellieha is also home to Popeye Village, once a film set, now a family entertainment park, with a play and swim area, boat rides, and animation shows. Take to the water for a family day at sea, boats leave from the local Mellieha bay, or venture across the Mediterranean to the beautiful island of Gozo.
Further afield, there's fun to be had at the Playmobil Fun Park Malta, Birzebbuga, which caters for younger children from babies to toddlers, and four years +, learn through play indoors and outdoors in the pirate themed play area, climb treehouses, cross the hanging bridge and slip down slides. Get on your horse and take a ride on the carousel at Dolfer Hall. For older children, let them loose in Bov Adventure Park, where there are climbing frames, water fountains, swings and the perfect place for a picnic. Your little boffins, you might want to go to Esplova in the village of Bighi, where they can spend the day interacting with science and technology. Children love Duck Village on Manoel Island, full of miniature houses, and many pet animals. See some sea life at the Malta National Aquarium, where forty-one tanks are home to over a hundred species of underwater life, not to mention the reptiles, amphibians and insects. See some sea life above ground at the Mediterraneo Marine Park, with performances from dolphins, sea lions and parrots, both educational and entertaining. If you are really lucky, you may also get to swim with the dolphins. Time to get in the water with a visit to Splash & Fun Water Park, with its very own wave pool, lazy river, black hole, and a whole host of other family fun activities. No trip to Malta would be complete without a day trip to Valetta, a forty-minute drive, where you can absorb the local history with a walk around the walled city to see the Mdina, take a stroll through Barrakka Gardens at noon to hear the cannon fire, and enjoy a meal at one of Malta's many family-friendly restaurants. Whilst you're there, if you fancy a tour with a difference, climb aboard the vintage Cottonera Lines omnibus to see the three cities and fortifications of Vittoriosa, Cospicura, and Senglea, founded by the Knights of Malta,

Spacious and spotless clean
Our 5 night stay at Villa Beurling couldn’t have gone any better. The spacious villa was spotless clean & the hosts were always more than happy to help. We made great use of the Maltese weather in the lovely pool & even enjoyed a final night bbq on the Villa’s balcony dining area. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their stay & thank our hosts for their lovely property

Perfect
Perfect for a big group, the property is massive. Easy check in, was able to check in early and check out slighter later, the pool and bbq was great. A good area to stay in Malta.

Definitely recommended
This place is perfect for a group, plenty of space to hangout together beside the pool or on the balcony with a bbq. The rooms and bathrooms are really spacious and the air conditioning was much appreciated!

We loved our stay at the villa. We stayed as a family with children from the age of 1-10 and it was big enough that we all had our own space. All but one of the bedrooms was en-suite so that was brilliant.
The only thing I will say is that the whole house is tiled so if they got a little bit wet they were extremely slippery!
The villa itself was great though, 2 mins from town but we just spent 99% of our time playing in the pool.

Excellent villa in lovely location
We had such a lovely time in Malta, the villa was so spacious and had everything we needed. We were a group of 9, two families, and it felt perfect. They supplied lots of towels so no need to take any which saved space in the suitcases and lovely welcome packs on every bed which included shampoo and body wash which we thought was a lovely touch. There was everything you could possibly need, including games and books. We paid extra for the pool to be heated and it was money well spent, we all absolutely loved it! The bedrooms were so big and having en-suites in nearly all the rooms was amazing. The location was excellent, close to sandy beaches and the ferry going over to Gozo. Even though we read that public transport was excellent the cost of hiring a car was so reasonable and with kids it was so much easier. It gave us freedom to explore around the beautiful island from top to bottom, there was so much to see and do. We wouldn’t hesitate to visit again and would definitely return to the villa.

Brilliant from start to finish. The team were fantastic and responded quickly to any concerns. Even giving us the options of breakfast packages and rental cars! Would definitely recommend!

Definitely recommended
Absolutely loved our stay at Villa Beurling and will definitely be looking to book it again. A beautiful, spacious villa that comfortably fitted all 7 adults and 3 children. We even had a room spare. I definitely recommend this villa to anyone wishing to stay in mellieħa.
