All the tranquillity that you need, paired with everything that the buzzing Playa del Carmen has in store - just a short walk away!
You will get some breathtaking panoramic views of the ocean from almost all of the points and rooms in the villa. Extremely bright and airy downstairs open-space lets heaps of natural light take the centre stage.
Decor is minimalistic, sleek and functional, mostly white and light wood with nautical, blue and turquoise accessories. Large L-shaped sofa invites you for some evening relaxing in front of the large flat screen TV, while several fantastic spots for dining give you fabulous places to eat and make memories while listening to the waves and taking in the Caribbean breeze!
The kitchen is fantastically equipped and has an island/breakfast bar and a double fridge - perfect to create some delicious group meals. You can enjoy some post-dinner drinks on the rooftop terrace (which has wonderful views reaching as far as Cozumel) or stretch out on the wicker lounge chairs on the patio.
There are also six loungers by the pool area and an outdoor sofa, sheltered from the sun. The master bedroom is equipped with a king sized bed and some fantastic ocean views. There are three more ocean view bedrooms - one with a Queen sized bed and the other two with two of those each. Another king size and another queen size complete the impressive list. All bedrooms are air conditioned, have fans and en suite bathrooms with showers as well as TVs and are connected to WiFi. All are decorated simply yet elegantly, with blue or turquoise accents in order to carry the ocean vibe throughout and aid a fantastic night’s sleep.
Outdoor is a combination of a few functional spaces and your fantastic pool as the main feature with loungers and an outdoor shower. There is also an area for relaxing with a table and chairs and a barbecue, perfect for some laid-back drinks, snacks or a game.

Location
About the surrounding area of Casa LigeraCasa Ligera’s location is absolutely fantastic. Everyone will find something to do and see around here. Located in the Playacar neighbourhood, it takes only 5 minutes to walk to explore the busy Quinta Avenida (5th Avenue) where you will find bars, restaurants and hundreds of shops and street merchants selling everything you might possibly need or desire!
Most of Playa del Carmen is walkable, however, it is not the tiny fishing village which it used to be anymore! It’s bustling and full of busy bars and cool boutiques sitting next to local taquerias and chic luxury hotels — all with a slightly more authentic Mexican style than in Cancun.
If you’re looking for an active way to spend your holiday - tennis courts are only a short walk from the villa and there are plenty of activities to do on the beach. A plethora of snorkelling excursions are available mostly via catamarans trips, you could also include some paradise island (Contoy, Mujeres, Holbox) hopping in a day trip. There is even a golf course in Playacar, for those missing some swinging action!
Concierge services are available for any request you might have, so why not try an inspiring private excursion to one of many magical spots throughout the Riviera Maya.
A visit to a cenote is a must do, they are underground swimming holes formed where the limestone bedrock gives way to underground rivers and springs. There are thousands of them in the Yucatan peninsula, but just a few minutes outside Playa Del Carmen , Rio Secreto a complex of five stunning caves that are filled with underground rivers and springs. You’ll get a wetsuit and go through a cave on a tour that includes the incredible experience of swimming inside a pitch-black cave.
Named one of the New Seven Wonders of the World, the Mayan ruins at Chichen Itza are a spectacular site to behold. It is about a two hour drive each way but worth every minute. Some fantastic, evocative sites are awaiting history lovers, around 90 minutes away at the ruins in Tulum while the Tulum Beach zone offers many cool bars and beach side restaurants to relax in.

Region
Riviera Maya is a breathtaking stretch of coastline renowned for its pristine, sun-kissed beaches, vibrant coral reefs and rich cultural heritage. This tropical paradise on the eastern coast of Mexico extends south of Cancun. It captivates visitors with its wonderful array of attractions, iconic landmarks and ecological wonders. If you haven’t been, then go!!
One of the region's standout attractions is the ancient Mayan city of Tulum. Perched on a clifftop overlooking the Caribbean Sea, Tulum boasts well-preserved ruins that offer a glimpse into the ancient civilization's architectural prowess. Visitors can explore the Castillo, a castle-like structure with panoramic ocean views and the amazing Temple of the Frescoes, adorned with intricate Mayan murals. Tulum also enjoys a stunning beach, providing a perfect blend of history and natural beauty. A short drive inland takes you to the Coba archaeological site, another archaeological gem of the region. Coba is distinguished by its massive pyramid, Nohoch Mul, which stands proudly as the tallest Mayan pyramid in the Yucatan Peninsula. Adventurous souls can climb to the top for a spectacular view of the surrounding jungle. The site also boasts a network of ancient sacbeob (white roads) connecting various structures, creating a sense of mystery and exploration.
For those enchanted by marine life, Xel-Ha Park is extraordinary. Known as the largest natural aquarium in the world, Xel-Ha is a sprawling aquatic theme park where visitors can snorkel amid colourful fish, explore hidden caves and take part in thrilling water activities such as tubing and cliff jumping. Riviera Maya is also famous for its cenotes, natural sinkholes formed by the collapse of cave systems. Dos Ojos, meaning "Two Eyes" in Spanish, is a famous cenote system offering surreal underwater landscapes for snorkelers and scuba divers. Crystal-clear waters reveal intricate rock formations and unique ecosystems, providing an incredible aquatic experience.
In addition to these natural wonders, Riviera Maya boasts vibrant towns and cities that add to its charm. Playa del Carmen, a bustling coastal town, is known for its lively atmosphere, Fifth Avenue shopping district and vibrant nightlife. Visitors can stroll along the pedestrian-friendly street, lined with shops, restaurants and entertainment venues. Playa del Carmen also serves as a gateway to the nearby Cozumel Island, a paradise for divers and snorkelers with its world-class coral reefs. A short distance from Playa del Carmen, the eco-archaeological park, Xcaret, offers a unique blend of nature, culture, and adventure. Families enjoy cultural performances, interact with wildlife in the park's zoo and experience the thrill of the underground river. Xcaret provides a fascinating journey through Mexican history and traditions, making it an ideal destination for all ages. Venturing south, Akumal is a coastal town known for its tranquil beaches and the opportunity to swim with sea turtles. Observing these gentle creatures in their natural habitat is a fabulous experience.
Riviera Maya is a treasure trove of natural wonders, ancient history, aquatic fun and family-friendly attractions. Whether exploring the ancient ruins of Tulum, snorkeling in the crystal-clear waters of Xel-Ha or strolling along the lively streets of Playa del Carmen, this Mexican paradise offers a diverse and enriching experience for visitors of all ages. The Riviera Maya beckons with its sun-kissed shores, inviting travellers to immerse themselves in the beauty and culture of this captivating destination.
Kids
Best Suited For: All AgesThis will be a highly memorable and educational trip for the younger ones as the area is full of children oriented fun! The villa itself is child friendly and provides cribs and a high chair. There is tons of splashing around to be done, in the villa’s pool or at the nearby beach.
Playa del Carmen attracts families with its pristine beaches and gentle waters, where kids can enjoy swimming and snorkelling while their parents get to relax at a safe distance. Outside of the beach activities, the town has quite a few lovely parks with pretty walking paths, picnic benches, and playgrounds for the little ones.
Adventure parks just outside Playa del Carmen are suitable for older kids as they can enjoy thrilling obstacle courses within lush jungles. Parque Fundadores is a recreational park overlooking Playa del Carmen’s main beach. It’s extremely photogenic, thanks to its 16-metre-tall bronze arch, which depicts a couple holding hands. There’s a playground built in the shape of a pirate ship, and a stage that hosts live shows all year round. A must-see is the Danza de los Voladores (Dance of the Flyers), which is a Mayan performance featuring acrobatic skills and traditional music. Quinta Avenida is great for some family meals, shopping, but also a fab place to check out street performances, such as impersonators, dancers, and musicians.
Animal lovers (big and small) will appreciate Jungle Place which is a wildlife sanctuary for spider monkeys in Quintana Roo and all proceeds go towards the rehabilitation of these endangered animals. Aquarium Beach is an aquarium displaying over 200 species of native fish, reptiles, and amphibians from the Mexican Caribbean across 3 levels of exhibits. The Xaman Ha Aviary houses about 200 tropical birds from 30 different species, most of which are indigenous to the Yucatan Peninsula, you can see colourful toucans, flamingos, and parrots here.
