The ultra-modern Villa Enver enjoys panoramic views across the Bay of Kotor, one of Montenegro’s most sought-after locations. With Tivat, Lovcen and Kotor itself within reach, this 4-bedroom villa with infinity pool is ideal for up to eight guests.

Surrounded by a private vineyard, the house enjoys a pleasing outlook, not least from the glorious terrace where loungers line up poolside, looking out over the bay. There is also an outdoor seating area with parasol next to the pool, as well as a barbecue.

On the ground floor, Villa Enver has a large, open-plan living area looking out to the pool. Containing dining and seating areas, this space is filled with natural light and enjoys incredible views out to sea. There are plush sofas, a flatscreen Smart TV and a well-equipped kitchen with a large fridge freezer, dishwasher, induction hob and more.

Upstairs, you will find all four of the bedrooms. Each has a balcony with sea view, a Smart TV, double bed and its own en suite bathroom. There is ample wardrobe space, as well as underfloor heating and air conditioning, so you can be assured of a comfortable environment.

This peaceful property is close to hiking trails, and only a short drive from Herceg Novi, where you will find bars, restaurants and excellent beaches. This beautiful town lies at the foot of Mount Orjen, not far from the borders with Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, and makes for a very pleasant hangout. In summer, many festivals take place in the town, and its proximity to Croatia means it’s easily accessible from Dubrovnik Airport, just over 35 minutes away.

Among the area’s other highlights are the upscale Tivat, with its marina packed with high-end restaurants, stores and entertainment venues. Around the Bay of Kotor are pretty Perast, a quieter town with an idyllic waterfront, and the Old Town of Kotor itself, where palaces, churches and pretty squares are found beyond the city walls. Occupying a large area east of Kotor, Lovćen National Park is the perfect playground for adventure sports and mountain walks.

The Bay of Kotor forms one of the highlights of Montenegro, a small but stunningly beautiful country. Its size means no part of Montenegro is too far away, and the bay’s proximity to neighbouring lands means you can easily dip into southern Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina too.

The city of Kotor itself is one of Montenegro’s main attractions, and a frequent cruise ship stop. The Old Town is flanked by sturdy city walls, and contains impressive sights such as St Tryphon’s Cathedral, originating in the 12th century. Walking the city walls is a popular activity for visitors, if fairly taxing, while places of historical interest along the way include the Venetian Sea Gate and the Kampana Tower and Citadel which kept the city safe in centuries past. Amazing views await you if you make the steep ascent.

Kotor is a favourite spot for enjoying water sports on the Skurda River, and admiring the incredible Skurda Canyon. The streets are full of life, with bars and cafés aplenty, and the odd museum of two – one of them dedicated to the many street cats the town is famed for.

Upmarket Tivat has a whole different vibe, known for its marina, nightlife, fine dining and designer shopping. By contrast, Perast is a small, peaceful place with palaces, churches and regular festivals to discover. From here, you can take a boat trip to Our Lady of the Rocks island, where a small, blue-domed chapel and museum is found – one of the area’s must-sees.

To the east of the bay, you can easily reach one of the most naturally beautiful areas of the country, Lovćen National Park. This mountainous region has numerous hiking trails to follow, and at the top of the mountain you will find a mausoleum and a restaurant. Needless to say, at a height of over 1700m, the outlook is breath-taking. On the eastern side of the National Park is Montenegro’s former capital, Cetinje, where a selection of museums and galleries showcase the country’s history and greatest artists.

The current capital, Podgorica, lies further east and while it’s not really a beauty spot it offers good shopping, entertainment, cafés and parks. The most visited destination in the country is back on the western coast –Budva. This means some touristy bits, but the Old Town is certainly worth a visit. Good beaches, restaurants and nightlife, as well as the biggest waterpark in the Balkans, are among the reasons people flock to Budva.

About the Region & Getting There

About the Bay of Kotor

The Bay of Kotor, or Boka, has been a World Heritage Site since 1979, so be assured of its captivating scenery that includes; a Venetian old town, a Fortress, Roman Mosaics, churches and a glistening cove that all culminate to provide guests with an exceptional holiday destination.

Sailing through the fjord you will notice the Orjen Mountains along the west, and the Lovćen Mountain range curling around the east, which outline this spellbinding landscape. As you enter through the bay you are greeted by a man-made islet that is home to Our Lady of the Rocks Church and a museum. This is the first of many reminders that you are about to reach a region of Montenegro that is famed for its natural scenery and poignant architecture.

The Bay of Kotor is made up of four cornerstones - Lastva, Morinj, Stoliv and the most renowned Tivat. Within these villages you are able to find iconic landmarks such as St Petka Church and St Mary’s Church, or for something a little less pious; simply enjoy Tivat Marina and Gornji Stoliv’s Olive grove & Fig orchard.

Travel inland and strap on a pair of hiking boots as you explore Lovcen National Park. Although it is about an hours drive from the Bay, it really is worth the day trip! Whether you’re travelling with a Botanists, Ecologist, Entomologist or Zoologist; they will be pleased to know that there’s an immeasurable number of species that include birds, insects, bears, wolves and some breath-taking flora & fauna.

We urge holidaymakers to make the most of Kodor! This charming town has everything you need to forget the day-to-day tribulations of home life. Not only does this small medieval refuge have a host of cafes & restaurants, but there are some must see attractions like the Maritime Museum, the Cats Museum of Kotor, Cats of Kotor Shop and St. John’s Hill. The perfect retreat for a family in need of sun, sea & sentiment.

Kids

Best Suited For: All Ages

All the family can get reinvigorated in Montenegro, a land of rugged National Parks and pretty riverside towns. The adventure park inside Lovcen National Park is great for kids, with zip-lined and rope bridges from tree to tree. Even the youngest children can enjoy the park, with specially configured trails.

Several other National Parks are perfect for a day of exploring, including Lake Skadar, Durmitor, Biogradsko and the incredible Tara Canyon. A favourite spot for white-water rafting, Tara is the biggest canyon in Europe and the second biggest in the world. Truly unforgettable.

There is always lots going on in Kotor, with a maze of Old Town streets waiting to be uncovered. Animal lovers will want to look out for the street cats and the popular Cat Museum. There is a big range of cat-themed items inside this small museum, and the modest admission charge goes towards caring for the town’s cat population.

Each summer, Kotor hosts the Festival of Theatre for Children, as well as the Kotor Arts Festival, incorporating Boka Night. You can enjoy music, dancing, food and fireworks at this annual party. Budva is also a town where fun’s easy to find. Along with great beaches, you will find the big Aquapark just outside the town, and the Lunapark fair.

If they’re more into culture, Cetinje certainly delivers. Montenegro’s former capital offers an art gallery, history museum, monastery and the grand palace of Biljarda. If you fancy making a day of it, you can get one ticket to visit all four of these attractions. For ancient history, the town of Risan, with its Roman ruins and mosaics, is a good choice. You’ll find it on the Bay of Kotor, just north of Perast.

Current capital Podgorica lies about 40km east and offers great shopping, go-karting, an animal sanctuary and an adventure park. Also check out the pretty Cijevna Waterfalls, about 10 minutes’ drive from Podgorica city centre, and the many green parks around the city. There are many playgrounds for the kids, and Cijevna you will also find a small petting zoo and restaurant.

If your kids are longing to hit the beach, there are endless options down the west coast. Petrovac is ideal for water sports, while Velika Plaza in Ulcinj is reckoned to be the longest beach in Europe at an incredible 12km.
