Located in the stunning Ria Formosa region in the heart of the Portuguese Algarve, Chic Algarve is a beautiful beachside villa absolutely dripping with timeless elegance. Sleeping up to fourteen guests across seven bedrooms, this unique luxury retreat has been built for making memories. Set among four hectares of olive, carob and almond trees, Chic Algarve could not be more aptly-named, from its white stone walls and cosy enchanting interior to its south-facing position - offering you and your guests front row seats to the ever-changing seascape and transporting your back in time to a simpler age.

The rooms of Chic Algarve are warm and inviting, with a soft, natural decor, tiled floors and comfortable, well-crafted furnishings. There are two well-equipped kitchens, two barbeque areas, and plenty of indoor and outdoor dining areas, making this stunning villa the perfect choice for two or more family groups travelling together. Added luxuries include underfloor heating, two private pools, the use of paddleboards and kayaks during your stay, and a daily meal service!

Chic Algarve has four double bedrooms and three twins, so accommodating everyone should be no problem! Six of the rooms have ensuite facilities, with the seventh room (a twin) sharing the main bathroom with the rest of the house. The bedrooms are spacious, light and airy, decorated in light, neutral tones and with mosquito screens at the windows for extra comfort.

Outside is no less spectacular, with those incredible ocean views taking centre stage. Aside from the two private pools and terrace with sun loungers, hammocks and shaded areas in which to both eat and relax, guests here also have access to the private beach - making it an ideal location for family groups who are travelling with young children. There is a private boat that will ferry you to and from the beach as needed. The area is untouched and serene and is home to some 20,000 regular water birds, including flamingos. It’s also a popular area with the local fishermen for clamming, and those staying at the villa could certainly catch a glimpse of this time-honoured tradition during their stay. Guests at Chic Algarve are sure to want to spend their time looking out over the ocean as the sun sets, enjoying a glass of something and enjoying the unique experience of stepping back into an ageless era away from the hustle and bustle of the ‘normal’ tourist experience.

Chic Algarve is located in one of the most unspoiled areas of the Algarve, in the heart of Ria Formosa Natural Park. The area is famous for its stunning scenery, fishing and birdlife and is a place of breathtaking natural beauty. Visitors are attracted to the area because of the rich array of wildlife, in particular the birdlife, which includes flamingos, egrets, cranes and oystercatchers. Another unique and friendly species you’re sure to encounter on your holiday is the Portuguese water dog. These long-haired beauties help the local fishermen as they work, diving and catching the fish that are caught in the nets and really are a sight to behold.

The waters here are shallow, with the lagoon acting as a nursery for many oceanic species, and shellfish farming here accounts for 80% of the country’s clam exports. These, along with mussels, razors and oysters, are used in the area’s restaurants and eateries to create traditional gastronomic specialities, so be sure to visit one of the many seaside restaurants while you are here.

If you want to travel further afield from the nature park itself, it’s worth exploring nearby Cacela Velha, a beautiful and quaint town filled with whitewashed cottages and rich in historical heritage - including a fortress, from the top of which you can enjoy fantastic views of the nearby lagoons. A visit to nearby Olhao is also a must, which features well laid-out guided walks that allow you to explore all of the different aspects of life in Ria Formosa. Here you’ll be able to learn about the salt marshes which are in abundance in the area, as well as find out about traditional agriculture practices or visit a traditional farmhouse, a tidal mill, and even the Roman ruins. While in Olhao, be sure to take a boat trip - either one that specialises in birdwatching or fishing or one that takes you on a tour of the barrier islands. You can even take a silent, solar-powered boat trip or, if you’re feeling especially adventurous, charter your own sailboat and explore for yourself.

If you’re after total rest and relaxation, you can’t go wrong with a holiday in the Ria Formosa region of the Algarve. Spend your days exploring the dunes, paddling in the sea and watching the world go by before sampling some local cuisine by the beach as the sun goes down. Life doesn’t get better than this.

***Please note that there is a nudist beach nearby the property.

ABOUT THE ALGARVE

Though most people tend to see the Algarve as all about the beaches and a holiday on the Med, there’s far much more to it than that. There’s actually a load of fascinating culture and history, superb cuisine and enthralling adventures to be had, though we’d be the first to admit that the beaches are pretty special too, with lots of sand, spectacle and wonderfully clean water.

But while you’re enjoying one of our fantastic villas in Algarve, you may well want to take some time out from all that sun worship to explore everything else the region has to offer – so we’ve put together this handy travel guide to give you a little help and inspiration!

Kids

Best Suited For: All Ages
Ideal for Kids Ideal for Teens

Chic Algarve offers the kids all the space they could possibly need for a relaxing holiday among nature. With beaches to explore, shallows to paddle in and wildlife to spot, a holiday here will transport children back to a time before smartphones and electronic devices! That’s not to say they can’t enjoy both while they’re here, of course; Chic Algarve has WiFi and a TV - so they can still enjoy those home-from-home comforts while the adults prepare breakfast or a beachside picnic.

The bedrooms at the villa are split into doubles and twins, so it should be easy to accommodate all members of the family, whatever their age. The kids will be thrilled to discover that Chic Algarve features not one but two private swimming pools, as well as a shaded lawn area on which to play. Parents should be aware that one of the pools is at ground level, and the other has a raised surround with steps leading down into the water, so caution should be exercised when little ones are playing in the vicinity. All in all, Chic Algarve is a lovely option for families with children, with plenty to see and do in a beautiful natural setting.

The beaches in the region are particularly picturesque, and there are many small islands off the coast of Ria Formosa to explore as a family. One of the most interesting to visit with the kids is Ilha da Armona, where the endless golden sands offer a bounty of shells for collectors. Despite being one of the few islands that are inhabited, you’ll be pleasantly surprised by the lack of vehicles here, which gives the island a real paradise-island vibe and allows you the opportunity to explore the harbour and the village with the kids without fear of traffic.

During the summer months, the kids will be enchanted by the colourful blossoms that adorn the front gardens of the pretty island houses - many of which have become quirky little shell palaces with great attention to detail. The island is easy to explore, with good, pushchair-friendly footpaths, so enjoying a leisurely walk as a family is stress-free. Wind your way through the village and stop at one of the cafes or bars for ice cream, soft drinks and a coffee before letting the kids blow off steam at the little playground. As you reach the last bars and houses of the village, the path becomes a wooden walkway that leads to the long southern beach - the perfect spot for an evening picnic, before heading back to Chic Algarve - tired and happy - to wind down with an evening swim or a swing in the hammock before bed.
