With four very generous bedroom suites, this bright and beautiful villa sleeps 8 guests in modern comfort. The villa is located in Cascais, 2.5km away from the town centre and 2.5km from the beach.
The upmarket, classy Cascais enjoys both a fascinating history and a very friendly, warm ambience. Once a charming Portuguese fishing town, Cascais was the summer retreat of the Portuguese nobility. Today it is an elegant fusion of its heritage and everything you would hope for from a modern tourist town. Within the narrow, cobbled streets of the historic centre, you will find interesting museums, an imposing fort, lavish houses and charming, unique shops and restaurants. Visitors can enjoy delicious waterside cocktails and fresh fish at the gourmet restaurants. A short train ride takes you into the centre of Lisbon or to one of the delightful beaches along the coast. Around the corner you will find the atmospheric and beautiful Sintra with its hilly landscape and beautiful palace. The area is famous for its championship golf courses, the 18-hole one at the Quinta da Marinha resort being designed by Robert Trent Jones.
Casa Birre enjoys a splendid terrace and a gorgeous 8 m x 4 m swimming pool. Guests can relax in the sun on the lower level or enjoy shade on the upper level. The villa is built on three levels with the street level on the ground floor and the pool on the lower level. The basement of this luxury property is home to a huge living and games room. It offers table football, table tennis, a lounge area with television, a dining area and a kitchen with a wine fridge. It is the ideal space for teenagers wanting some fun away from the rest of the group. One of the bedrooms is also located on this level with a queensize bed and a bathroom with a walk-in shower.
The lower, pool level is home to the main living spaces which are open plan in design and brimming with lovely, contemporary furnishings. There is an attractive double height aspect above the dining table and a huge wall of floor-to-ceiling glass doors opening to the terrace. The room is incredibly spacious and very bright with natural light pouring in. The kitchen is enormous, a delight for the chef in your group. It has so many cabinets and a handy breakfast table. The appliances are excellent and include Nespresso and American coffee machines. The outside terrace is perfect for shaded alfresco dining and lounging, the perfect spot for relaxation, pre-dinner cocktails and using the villa’s barbecue.
The remaining bedroom suites are located on the upper, ground floor. The sensational master enjoys a superking bed that can be separated into twins. It is beautifully finished and boasts an immaculate ensuite bathroom with a shower. It also enjoys a balcony with lovely views. THE REGION
A coastal town just 20 miles west of Lisbon, Cascais was once a small fishing village, but its idyllic scenery attracted the attention of artists, writers and expelled European nobility in the 20th century. Today, it still attracts high society, but all society comes into force to enjoy the gorgeous beaches and adventure options like sailing and surfing.
Cascais also sits just west of Lisbon and right on the edge of the Sintra-Cascais Natural Park, meaning there are ample opportunities for exciting day trips. When you’re not off an excursion up the coast, you’ll find Cascais has plenty of its own allures. Take your pick of gorgeous sandy coves, wander around culture-packed art centres, book a surfing lesson or sit down to dine on some of the best food in the region.
ABOUT THE LISBON COAST
The Lisbon Coast is a sensational stretch of golden beaches, wave-lashed cliffs and vibrant seaside towns – but there's more to the Atlantic coastline than that. Delve beneath the surface to discover hidden coves, family-owned seafood restaurants and pristine natural parks.
The coast around Lisbon provides an easy, breezy escape from the capital, whose proximity has made it the stomping ground of kings for the last 1,000 years. In summer, Lisboistas stream into elegant Comporta and Cascais to escape the heat of the city; year-round, surfers hang loose on the coast, waiting for the rollers to crash down on the sand.
But while you're enjoying one of our fantastic villas in Lisbon Coast, you may well want to take some time out from all that sun worship to explore everything else the region has to offer – so we've put together this handy travel guide to give you a little help and inspiration!
