Overview
Enjoying a sought-after location on Portugal’s Alentejo Coast, Casa Ambrosia lies just 2.5km from the beautiful Praia da Comporta beach. This 4-bedroom villa with private pool is in just the right place for exploring the wonders of the Sado Estuary Nature Reserve or the natural park of Arrábida.
Accommodating up to 10 guests, Casa Ambrosia sits in pretty gardens with a lovely pool terrace. A dining area is just a few steps away from the pool, perfect for evening get-togethers over a bottle of wine, and a little closer to the pool is a selection of sun loungers for the daytime. There is also a barbecue and private parking at Casa Ambrosia.
Inside, the house features an open-plan living space on the lower floor, with a comfortable seating area and dining space looking out onto the terrace. You have a wood-burning stove should you need it, and a well-equipped kitchen too – a good-sized room with a breakfast bar and high-quality appliances.
There is one en suite double bedroom on the lower floor, while the remaining bedrooms are found upstairs. You have two more doubles here, including one with a walk-in shower, and a bedroom with bunk beds which is ideal for up to three children. Another bathroom with bathtub and a terrace with seating area can also be found on the upper level.
The villa is well located for local amenities, with a supermarket and restaurants just 1km away. Best of all, is the incredible natural beauty of the Tróia Peninsula, with a 17km run of white-sand beaches one of its highlights. You may also come across its casino or marina, or the great Tróia golf course with its outlook on the Atlantic. Peaceful Comporta takes chilling out to a whole new level, and is less than 30 minutes’ drive from the larger town of Grândola, where there are more choices for dining and going out – if you can tear yourself away from this charming coastal spot.

Location
About the surrounding area of Casa AmbrosiaOn Portugal’s Alentejo coast, Comporta is a quiet beachside village which has recently found itself the topic of countless travel magazines’ ‘next big thing’ articles. More than a few A-listers have found their way to its endless golden beaches, and Comporta well deserves their attention. Unlike many resorts where such fame would result in high-rise hotels and noisy clubs springing up, Comporta’s selling point is its simplicity.
The village lies at the foot of the Tróia Peninsula, closer to Lisbon than many of the country’s best-known resorts. The lack of a ‘scene’ of any kind has been noted, so don’t expect in-your-face nightlife or even strings of restaurants – it’s far more understated in Comporta, but you will find a quiet place or two to hang out, often with food far better than the unpretentious vibe would suggest.
A beautiful place to just be – perhaps the secret of its success with its celebrity fans – Comporta is part of the Sado Estuary Nature Reserve. Look out for dolphins, sea birds and eagles among others. Whether you travel the beach on horseback or simply on foot, you will have much to appreciate. The landscapes are sublime and uncluttered, with rice paddies and pine forests adding character to the area. Crashing waves make Comporta a surfing favourite too, which seems to fit perfectly with the laid-back style of the place.
As the day ends, make sure you’re in prime position to take in the, no doubt, stunning sunset – just one of the many advantages to being in the know about Comporta.

THE REGION
Comporta is surrounded by rice paddies, the ocean, sand dunes and pine forests. It's a unique place where you can connect with nature and live in the moment. Comporta has a rhythm and an ambience that are all it's own. This wild and unspoilt part of Portugal attracts an in-the-know international crowd, including renowned artists, designers, and A-listers.
Comporta has a remarkable diversity of natural systems with long stretches of beach, windswept dunes, scenic pine forests, salt marshes and rice paddies which become a vibrant green in June. The region is also characterized by rice fields and its main attraction, the Comporta beach: 20 kilometres of uninterrupted white sand, a beach lover’s paradise.
As with the rest of Portugal, you can expect sun-blessed weather year-round in Comporta. The best months of the year to visit Comporta for long beach stays are from June to September, while the spring and autumn months are still suitable for picnics or day trips.
ABOUT THE LISBON COAST
The Lisbon Coast is a sensational stretch of golden beaches, wave-lashed cliffs and vibrant seaside towns – but there's more to the Atlantic coastline than that. Delve beneath the surface to discover hidden coves, family-owned seafood restaurants and pristine natural parks.
The coast around Lisbon provides an easy, breezy escape from the capital, whose proximity has made it the stomping ground of kings for the last 1,000 years. In summer, Lisboistas stream into elegant Comporta and Cascais to escape the heat of the city; year-round, surfers hang loose on the coast, waiting for the rollers to crash down on the sand.
But while you're enjoying one of our fantastic villas on Lisbon Coast, you may well want to take some time out from all that sun worship to explore everything else the region has to offer – so we've put together this handy travel guide to give you a little help and inspiration!
Kids
Best Suited For: All AgesCasa Ambroasia is a great choice if you’re planning a family holiday, with lots of space outside and in – there’s a kids’ bedroom with bunks and a pull-out bed which will make a nice den for three of them, and they’ll love the pool as well.
If they are nature lovers, this is a great area for exploring, with all sorts of wildlife to be seen in the nearby Sado Estuary Nature Reserve. Head towards Grândola and you could also visit Badoca Park, for a more safari-like experience with zebras, giraffes, antelopes and many more animal inhabitants. A boat trip to see the dolphins, where the River Sado meets the Atlantic, is another must. The beaches of the Tróia Peninsula are particularly beautiful too, and ideal for long walks – or even very long ones, as they continue all the way down to Melides. They can learn to surf at several of them too, and with those gorgeous clear waters, where better to start?
