Boho chic, Grandola Saffi offers a lavish home away from home, just a short walk from the beach. One of our favourite villas in Carvalhal, this stunning property reflects its beautiful surroundings with warm natural materials throughout. From the moment you walk, there is an air of calm and a complete sense of tranquillity. Whether you are travelling with friends or family, this beautiful villa and vibrant area are sure to be the holiday of a lifetime.
Carvalhal itself is known for its glitz and glamour, with heaps of bustling restaurants, designer shops and polished seafront restaurants. With so much within walking distance, there is plenty to fill up a whole week or two, not to mention the golden sandy beaches that often draw visitors to this area.
As you open the front door, the central galleried hallway oozes atmosphere, with a straw ceiling guiding you into the main open-plan entertaining spaces. Stylish and sophisticated, you can cook delicious meals in the modern fitted kitchen, talking the evenings away around the spacious dining table and fully relaxing on the elegant sofas. Wooden floors and furniture, straw features, rattan lampshades, and bamboo furnishings all create a warm and welcoming ambience that reflects the golden sand and sunshine-filled skies outside.
Grandola Saffi boasts three serene bedrooms, offering ample space for a group of six guests. Each room has ease and elegance to it, with plenty of room to enjoy your own space.
Everything about the villa draws a connection to the outdoors, from the use of materials to the calming garden and rice field views. Days spent by the sublime private swimming pool, reading books on the loungers, and enjoying a cocktail on the shady terrace, are ones that you will be daydreaming of all year round. Our favourite moments at Grandola Saffi must be the star-lit evenings on the terrace, enjoying the magic of the moment with your loved ones.

THE REGION
Comporta is surrounded by rice paddies, the ocean, sand dunes and pine forests. It's a unique place where you can connect with nature and live in the moment. Comporta has a rhythm and an ambience that are all it's own. This wild and unspoilt part of Portugal attracts an in-the-know international crowd, including renowned artists, designers, and A-listers.
Comporta has a remarkable diversity of natural systems with long stretches of beach, windswept dunes, scenic pine forests, salt marshes and rice paddies which become a vibrant green in June. The region is also characterized by rice fields and its main attraction, the Comporta beach: 20 kilometres of uninterrupted white sand, a beach lover’s paradise.
As with the rest of Portugal, you can expect sun-blessed weather year-round in Comporta. The best months of the year to visit Comporta for long beach stays are from June to September, while the spring and autumn months are still suitable for picnics or day trips.
ABOUT THE LISBON COAST
The Lisbon Coast is a sensational stretch of golden beaches, wave-lashed cliffs and vibrant seaside towns – but there's more to the Atlantic coastline than that. Delve beneath the surface to discover hidden coves, family-owned seafood restaurants and pristine natural parks.
The coast around Lisbon provides an easy, breezy escape from the capital, whose proximity has made it the stomping ground of kings for the last 1,000 years. In summer, Lisboistas stream into elegant Comporta and Cascais to escape the heat of the city; year-round, surfers hang loose on the coast, waiting for the rollers to crash down on the sand.
But while you're enjoying one of our fantastic villas on Lisbon Coast, you may well want to take some time out from all that sun worship to explore everything else the region has to offer – so we've put together this handy travel guide to give you a little help and inspiration!
Kids
Best Suited For: All AgesLocated a short walk from the beach, with sand dunes, rice fields and plenty of outdoor space to enjoy, Grandola Saffi is a great choice for families travelling with children. The private pool is always a highlight among younger guests, offering hours of splashy fun and entertainment throughout the entire holiday.
For families that love the outdoors, Comporta offers plenty to get involved in. There are water sports galore, much to the appreciation of adrenaline junky kids! The boat trips on offer are magical, heading out from the Troia marina to watch dolphins, enjoy sensational sunsets and to explore this stunning coastline. For budding surfers, Comporta’s magnificent surfing beaches boast two surf schools which offer courses for all ages and levels.
Horse riding is another popular option for kids of all ages, as children can ride through the rice fields or along the beach, taking in sunsets and discovering this beautiful area from another angle. Kayaking through the rice fields of Comporta is another wonderful treat. The Vala Real is the main water channel, and there are many animals to watch along the banks. Tours can be arranged through Cavalos na Areia.
Lisbon is a fantastic place to visit with kids, though we recommend taking the trams and avoiding prams, as the hilly, cobbled streets can be a little tiring for little legs and wheels! The Portuguese have a very family-focused culture, so young children are welcome everywhere. The Oceanarium boasts a huge collection of marine species, including penguins, seagulls, sea otters, sharks, rays, chimaeras, sea horses, starfish, sea urchins, corals, sea anemones, crustaceans, octopuses, jellyfish and much more. Lisbon Zoo is full of adventure with Sumatran tigers, lions, giraffes, dolphins, birds, pelicans, reptiles and elephants. There is a children’s petting and feeding farm and a fun cable car.
