Península de Tróia is an immensely popular region with families, making it an ideal location for those looking to experience the holiday of a lifetime. This region is also recognised for its tremendous seafood industry, helping children to expand their developing culinary horizons. One of the most fundamental dishes in this area is Cataplana. This uses an array of vegetables and shellfish, such as clams and is served in a traditional stoneware pot that works to trap and enhance the key tomato and brine flavours. Guests can find this dish in many of the enticing local restaurants, helping them to enjoy a divine meal whilst soaking up the vibrant and intoxicating local atmosphere.

The Fort of Sao Filipe was first constructed in 1582, further exemplifying Península de Tróia’s rich and expansive history. Built on the orders of the prolific Philip II of Spain, this fort works to assess oncoming threats that are entering the country by sea. As such, guests are encouraged to explore and examine every element of this monument, travelling to the top of the fort to experience a wealth of awe-inspiring views. In turn, this is a great way to capture the region from a more moving and intimate perspective. Before you leave this incredible landmark, be sure to enjoy a hot beverage in the on-site coffee bar. The Fort of Sao Filipe can be found around an hour and 15 minutes away from the villa.

The Roman City of Cetobriga is one of the oldest excavation sites, dating back to the 1st century. When this area was occupied by the Romans, it was transformed into a bustling hub of activity. Complete with vast bathhouses, looming buildings, and a crematorium; this is an essential landmark to visit if you wish to learn more about the region’s Roman roots. This attraction is also firmly placed on the prestigious UNESCO Tentative List and is expected to graduate to World Heritage Site status in the next coming years. Thus, this exemplifies its significance throughout history and Europe, respectively. The Roman City of Cetobriga is situated around 90 minutes away from the villa.
