Overview
Occupying an elevated position that means it offers spectacular views over the sea and the city of Funchal in Madeira is Moradia Santo Antonio. This comfortable villa enjoys a well-connected spot in a pretty residential area and has plenty of idyllic outside space in which to unwind and relax.
With a mix of established pieces of furniture that add elegance and modern facilities for convenience, Moradia Santo Antonia is an ideal family holiday home. The amount of space both inside and out means that everyone can easily find their own favourite place.
The ground-floor lounge is a cosy and welcoming place to relax, with several comfortable sofas and armchairs to choose from. Glass sliding doors flood the space with light and offer direct access to the outside space. The modern kitchen comes with everything you could need, including an oven, dishwasher, fridge freezer and coffee machine. There’s also a small table with chairs for grabbing a quick breakfast. Doors open onto a terrace with outdoor dining furniture and out to beautiful sea views. Steps up from the lounge take you to the main dining area, which features a classic wood table and chairs. After dinner, retire to the cosy television room for family movie night.
On the first floor are four of the five bedrooms. The master bedroom features a king-size bed, ensuite bathroom and private balcony with sea views. Another bedroom has a double bed, with the remaining two bedrooms having two single beds each. All share a balcony that offers clear views of the sea and use of the lovely family bathroom. Providing additional sleeping options is a single chaise lounge with mattress that also has a pull-out mattress underneath. This means an extra one to two guests can be accommodated if required.
The lower-ground floor is where you’ll find the fifth bedroom, which has a double bed and access to a separate shower room. This floor is also home to a large games/leisure room with pool table, table football and a treadmill, as well as a laundry room with washing machine.
The outside space has been beautifully designed to make the most of the villa’s elevated position and sea views. The main highlight is the private infinity pool from where you can soak up the very best views. Around the pool are several sun loungers and some outdoor seating for relaxing in style. Next to the outdoor dining table on the partially-covered terrace is a built-in barbecue for enjoying al fresco meals. The rest of the outside space is made up of several stone-walled terraces with lawns and various exotic plants and trees.

Location
About the surrounding area of Moradia Santo AntonioThe villa is extremely well-positioned for reaching convenient amenities. Just a five-minute drive away from the villa are restaurants, cafés, bars, banks and a fresh fruit and vegetable shop. You can also quickly and easily head out to indulge in some retail therapy, with one of Madeira’s biggest shopping centres also just five minutes away by car. Here you’ll find a large number of restaurants, varied shops and a cinema. Make sure you take a break and take in the panoramic views over the sea from the rooftop terrace.
Even though there aren’t any golden sand beaches in the area, you can still enjoy a day by the sea. There are several Lido's in Funchal that feature volcanic black sand, with Barreirinha Beach Lido being one of the best. The beach here is small and pebbled, so you can hire some sun loungers and enjoy relaxing as you listen to the water lapping the shore. The sea is generally very calm, so everyone can go for a swim safely.
For a history fix, explore the old town area of Funchal, which locals call Zona Velha. It’s full of history and culture, with many ancient buildings lining its narrow, cobbled streets. One of the most beautiful is 15th-century Corpo Santo Chapel, which is definitely a must-visit. After you’ve finished strolling the streets here, take the cable car up to Monte where there’s a stunning botanical garden to discover. It’s full of exotic herbs, plants and flowers that can be found across the island.

THE REGION
Funchal is the largest city on the island of Madeira and is encapsulated by Pico Ruivo and its neighbouring mountains, which look as if they have been seamlessly carved into the skyline by a Lusitanian God.
There is no better spot to start your holiday than in the Old Town, which illustrates its personality though street art, architecture and busy local businesses. There are many fine eateries, botanical gardens, a cathedral and impressive museums. Perhaps hop on the Madeira Cable Car as one of your first activities, as this will give you a great idea of the islands size.
Many flock Funchal in order to enjoy the Atlantic Coastline. This is home to its prominent harbour, where hundreds of boats and yachts, some of which enable visitors to embark on a magical sea voyage, can be found. Funchal really is a destination for lovers of the sea; as there are renowned surfing points, as well as being a great place to spot some whales.
Madeirans are also notorious for their elaborate festivals. If you’re travelling during the New Year, you will be treated to one of the world’s biggest Firework Festivals…a dazzling sight! During late February & early Mrach, you are able to witness Carnival and the streets of Funchal are lit with parades and festivities. If that’s not enough for you; the Atlantic Festival International Fireworks Competition, Wine Festival and Christmas are all noteworthy dates for anyone visiting Funchal.
There are some incredible villas on the island and we believe that we have done a great job finding them for you. Have a browse and let us know what you think.
ABOUT MADEIRA
The island of Madeira can be found south west of mainland Portugal, in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. Due to the island’s location, its is considered to have a Mediterranean climate that serves locals and visitors all year round – making it an ideal escape from reality at any point in the year.
What we love Madeira for is its seemingly ongoing festivals! Madeirans have found an excuse to celebrate most things; including film, their natural surroundings and key patron saints. This means that planning a visit during these days and even weeks of commemoration is well worth it (scroll down to see some key dates).
Madeira is divided into several municipals, each with a special offering to those who visit this island. Our favourite two communities are Funchal and Calheta and these are where you will find most of our beautiful villas.
Madeira’s landscape extends much more than a striking coastline. Make sure you pack some hiking boots and venture inland during your stay. With mountainous trails along Vereda do Arieiro, or more countryside appropriate paths like Levada do Risco and waterfall chasing treks like Levada do Caldeirao Verde – this archipelago has everything a keen outdoors person requires.
For those who enjoy either playing or watching sports, you’ll be happy to know Madeira offers so much selection. Madeira is also home to three notable football clubs, so if you’re visiting during the football season and want to see a good quality of football, you have every chance to. Porto Santo Golfe is the island’s renowned golf course. With an 18-hole course (Par 72) overlooking a Galapagos-like backdrop, golf enthusiasts will certainly want a ‘slice’ of the action! Surfers can access some great beaches like Jardim do Mar, Ponta Pequena, Paul do Mar, and Fajã da Ovelha in order to find some swell. Or, if you’re simply looking to recline on a sun lounger and soak up some rays, whilst listening to crystal clear waves break as they hit the shores, you will find plenty of man-made beaches & Lidos created for your leisure!
With a superb climate, close proximity to the coastline, wonderful cuisine, charming locals and astonishing scenery – this is a fabulous holiday choice for families & friends.
But while you're enjoying one of our fantastic villas in Madeira, you may well want to take some time out from all that sun worship to explore everything else the region has to offer – so we've put together this handy travel guide to give you a little help and inspiration!

Kids
Best Suited For: All AgesMoradia Santo Antonio is ideal for families with children over the age of five in particular. It offers plenty of space for both independence and spending quality time together. Favourite spots are sure to be the infinity pool and well-equipped games room. Older children will also love the lower-ground floor bedroom as it offers extra independence and is right next to the games room!
You can’t visit Funchal without taking a trip on the famous cable car. The children will love spotting all the animals that live on the mountains as you travel from the city up to the pretty Monte area further north. The city and sea views from such a height are very impressive and can be enjoyed for the whole 20 minutes that the journey takes. Once you reach the top, make sure you visit the beautiful botanical gardens.

We had a weeks holiday in this fab villa
We had a weeks holiday in this fab villa. Four adults and a 20 month baby and it was the perfect set up for us all. Plenty of space for our daughter to play and a lovely terrace where we had breakfast every morning, overlooking Funchal. The infinity pool was a huge hit with us all! The location is also great too. Lovely little shop close by for basic essentials with a bigger supermarket not that far away either. There are plenty of cafes locally if you didn't wish to go into central Funchal. There a bus stop round the corner which takes you into Funchal centre or you can take a bus the other way, up to a fab view point. The check in and check out, could not have been more straight forward and the recommendations offered in the welcome pack were greatly appreciated. Fab week away and I know that we will be back!

A stylish villa with stunning views
A stylish villa with stunning views. We loved all the outdoor space and enjoyed breakfasts on the patio with the sea views every day. We were a group of 8 and it was perfect for us. The villa agents were helpful both before and during our stay.

Huge house. Great views
Great views. Lovely staff to meet and greet. Pool temperatures were as expected and paid for. We were just 3 people but house would be great for a family of up to 8. However, suggest may not be perfect for very young children as some risks as house is in a lovely elevated position.
Don't miss out! Reserve now and get a full refund if you change your mind within 48hrs.
