Overview
Villa Nayara, like much of Madeira, is perched on a dramatic hillside, surrounded by vibrantly coloured flowers overlooking sparkling ocean views. This opulent stand-alone home is finessed in ochre and coral tones, with creamy pillars and colonial style architecture.
Set within stunningly elegant Italianate-style gardens and pillared verandas, this two storey dwelling offers sumptuous accommodation for eight, boasting stylish terraces and far-reaching views of ocean panoramas, while additional touches such as the sauna and beautiful dining pergolas lend a note of luxury.
The wrought-iron balustrades and manicured shrubs add a hint of grandeur to this elegant abode, while stepping inside, guests are greeted with airy and breezy interiors, full of natural daylight and dazzling views.
The open-plan living space is finished with buttery yellow tones, an enormous L shaped sofa and flag-tile flooring together with original open fireplace for cosy and home-like appeal. A vibrant and light-filled kitchen with top-grade appliances and splashy modern art sets the scene for lively group meal preparation, while the upbeat feel of this home lends an optimistic air.
The bedrooms are finessed with polish and refined charm, each with its own touches of character, from marina blues with writing desk and chair, to the mint green room with white washed timber furnishing to the candy pink room complete with lime lamp shades.
Set just moments from the amenities of Palheiro Village and the surrounding coast, Villa Nayara is a feel-good home with generous proportions, vivid colour for a local twist and chic outdoor living potential, with panoramic Atlantic views.

- Set within a wider resort complex meaning this dwelling sits alongside other similar properties rather than offering rural seclusion
- The gardens are courtyard gardens, complete with pool and dining terraces, but no grassy lawns
- There are hard steps and surfaces externally and the pool is unfenced, so toddlers will need monitoring

The Palheiro estate has an 18 hole golf course, a spa, gym and array of restaurants, while within ten minutes guests can be in the centre of Funchal, Madeira’s capital. Funchal is a historical city, known for its 16th century Gothic cathedral and bustling local life. The Farmers' Market is a colourful affair, wether everything from exotic fruits to traditional delights such as bolo de mel (honey cake), jostling alongside craft shops, flower sellers in traditional costume and lively fishmongers’ stalls.
Just 9 kilometres from Funchal, a visit to the village of Camacha, will provide an intriguing insight to local wicker crafts and folklore. A highlight is the traditional dance of the region - the animated Bailinho da Madeira. Most restaurants offer live performances, along with local specialties like kebabs on bay sticks with fried maize.
Madeira is known for its dramatic scenery and botanic gardens, offering a hikers’ paradise, through sun dappled mimosa-clad landscapes and volcanic soil, fertile with brightly sprouting blossom.
Walkers have no shortage of choice, with a year-round temperate client, criss-crossing the island are hundreds of miles of trails, following the routes of the ancient ‘levadas’ (irrigation channels dug to bring rainwater to Madeira’s farmland on the drier parts of the island.) The densely forested mountainous interior is filled with jungle style treks, while the coastal paths are known for their wild flowers and pretty scenery. At the heart of Madeira is the volcanic landscape and the Unesco World Heritage site of the Laurisilva forest.
With so much on offer, from boat trips to the golden island of Porto Santo for wreck diving or the Christopher Columbus Museum to whale and dolphin spotting, to snorkelling to enjoying fine local wines and gastronomy, to enjoying the unparalleled flora and fauna the island is known for, Madeira is sure to leave lasting memories.

THE REGION
Funchal is the largest city on the island of Madeira and is encapsulated by Pico Ruivo and its neighbouring mountains, which look as if they have been seamlessly carved into the skyline by a Lusitanian God.
There is no better spot to start your holiday than in the Old Town, which illustrates its personality though street art, architecture and busy local businesses. There are many fine eateries, botanical gardens, a cathedral and impressive museums. Perhaps hop on the Madeira Cable Car as one of your first activities, as this will give you a great idea of the islands size.
Many flock Funchal in order to enjoy the Atlantic Coastline. This is home to its prominent harbour, where hundreds of boats and yachts, some of which enable visitors to embark on a magical sea voyage, can be found. Funchal really is a destination for lovers of the sea; as there are renowned surfing points, as well as being a great place to spot some whales.
Madeirans are also notorious for their elaborate festivals. If you’re travelling during the New Year, you will be treated to one of the world’s biggest Firework Festivals…a dazzling sight! During late February & early Mrach, you are able to witness Carnival and the streets of Funchal are lit with parades and festivities. If that’s not enough for you; the Atlantic Festival International Fireworks Competition, Wine Festival and Christmas are all noteworthy dates for anyone visiting Funchal.
There are some incredible villas on the island and we believe that we have done a great job finding them for you. Have a browse and let us know what you think.
ABOUT MADEIRA
The island of Madeira can be found south west of mainland Portugal, in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. Due to the island’s location, its is considered to have a Mediterranean climate that serves locals and visitors all year round – making it an ideal escape from reality at any point in the year.
What we love Madeira for is its seemingly ongoing festivals! Madeirans have found an excuse to celebrate most things; including film, their natural surroundings and key patron saints. This means that planning a visit during these days and even weeks of commemoration is well worth it (scroll down to see some key dates).
Madeira is divided into several municipals, each with a special offering to those who visit this island. Our favourite two communities are Funchal and Calheta and these are where you will find most of our beautiful villas.
Madeira’s landscape extends much more than a striking coastline. Make sure you pack some hiking boots and venture inland during your stay. With mountainous trails along Vereda do Arieiro, or more countryside appropriate paths like Levada do Risco and waterfall chasing treks like Levada do Caldeirao Verde – this archipelago has everything a keen outdoors person requires.
For those who enjoy either playing or watching sports, you’ll be happy to know Madeira offers so much selection. Madeira is also home to three notable football clubs, so if you’re visiting during the football season and want to see a good quality of football, you have every chance to. Porto Santo Golfe is the island’s renowned golf course. With an 18-hole course (Par 72) overlooking a Galapagos-like backdrop, golf enthusiasts will certainly want a ‘slice’ of the action! Surfers can access some great beaches like Jardim do Mar, Ponta Pequena, Paul do Mar, and Fajã da Ovelha in order to find some swell. Or, if you’re simply looking to recline on a sun lounger and soak up some rays, whilst listening to crystal clear waves break as they hit the shores, you will find plenty of man-made beaches & Lidos created for your leisure!
With a superb climate, close proximity to the coastline, wonderful cuisine, charming locals and astonishing scenery – this is a fabulous holiday choice for families & friends.
But while you're enjoying one of our fantastic villas in Madeira, you may well want to take some time out from all that sun worship to explore everything else the region has to offer – so we've put together this handy travel guide to give you a little help and inspiration!

The Palheiro Village estate is a safe and family-friendly setting, with beaches and amenities on this home’s doorstep.
A ten minute drive will take guests to Funchal, Madeira’s capital, where children can enjoy the lido, or spend an enjoyable afternoon at the toy museum.
When walking through Funchal with children, visitors can enjoy looking out for the painted doors in the old part of the city. The stories, characters and scenes will stay with them, and at the end of the day, taking a cable car up to the gardens at Monte will see them in a magical, enchanted space to remember.
The destination is not the only important thing (although the gardens like something out of a fairy tale), as the trip up is fun for little ones. For older kids, enjoying the trip back down on traditional wicker mountain carts will get their adrenaline pumping!
The natural volcanic pools in Porto Moniz offer something a little different, while dolphin spotting, boat trips and museum visits are all on offer.
The Madeira Theme Park at Santana is magnificent space is dedicated to the history, science and tradition of the Madeira Islands. A replica of the Monte train, traditional oxcarts and nets, a traditional Santana house, a windmill, a maze and even a lake will keep them entertained and intrigued, while offering insight to the island's cultural heritage.

Spectacular views
The villa was beautiful. Decorated to a high standard with everything we needed. The pool was perfect, we are so pleased we paid the extra for it to be heated. What can I say about those views, in one word....spectacular.
We hired a car so got to see around the island too which is so beautiful. Very sad to be leaving. -
Exceptional
Everything else was great. Easy location for exploring the island and very nice amenities. The pool was awesome. The Valentine's Day dinner was superb and wait staff couldn't have been more attentive. Thoroughly enjoyed Palheiro Village.
