ABOUT MINHO
The areas of Minho extend from the Spanish border in the north, south to Porto and east to the mountains of Vila Real. It is a green and fertile area of rolling hills encompassing the great rivers Minho, Lima and Douro, and the National Park of Peneda Geres. The countryside of the region is typified by long, sandy beaches bordered by pine woods, picturesque villages nestling among vine-covered hills, and historic towns such as Amarante, Guimaraes, Barcelos, Ponte de Lima, and Viana do Castelo.
The area encompasses a range of postcard-worthy landscapes and features that could almost be Portugal in microcosm: dreamy river scenes, high mountains, rolling vineyards, beautiful historic towns, dramatic Atlantic beaches, ancient religious foundations and mysterious archaeological sites.

Kids
Best Suited For: All AgesVilla Escusa is an excellent retreat for families with children, offering a single-storey layout that eliminates the worry of stairs, allowing kids to move around safely. Modern amenities like WiFi and satellite TV keep children entertained, while a cot and highchair are provided for younger guests.
The villa’s outdoor space features a private swimming pool accessible via steps, though parents should note that it is unfenced, so supervision is necessary. A shaded alfresco dining area is ideal for family meals.
However, particular areas require caution. Double doors lead to an exterior space with a low wall overlooking a 180cm drop, and there is a gap in the hedge with steps leading to a ridge with a 2m drop. Both areas are not ideal for unsupervised small children.
Nearby beaches like Moledo and Afife offer family-friendly activities, while the region also provides horse riding, rafting, and canoeing opportunities.
