Overview
Chalet Engelberg is the quintessential Austrian Chalet, brimming with rustic, Alpine charm, located with prime access to both the slopes and village amenities. Clad in stone and timber, with full length balcony and sloping eaves, this authentic home is a cosy base to enjoy the prestigious resort.
Upon arrival, guests will be treated to champagne and canapés by the chalet hosts and throughout their stay, guests’ every need will be covered with hospitable zest. From three course dinners with a selection of house wines, to afternoon tea and cakes to a cheese platter on arrival, no detail is left under-thought. So, guests may focus on what they came for: skiing and rejuvenation within the clear-aired mountains.
Chalet Engelberg can accommodate up to 12 guests and is thus ideal for a large group of friends or a couple of families holidaying together. This traditional chalet offers a wood-paneled dining room, bursting with original chalet-style charm. Cool in the summer and warming in winter, it sets the scene for lively group meals. With low-hanging lighting and pillar-box red soft furnishings, guests will be able to enjoy coffee and mints after dinner, perhaps with a game of cards to follow.
The six bedrooms are simple, yet charming, each with its own en-suite shower room. The bedrooms on the first floor enjoy the advantage of balcony access - imagine wandering out in the morning with coffee to breath in the clear mountain air. At the end of a busy day, unwinding in the sauna when returning perhaps a little sore-limbed will round the day off nicely. All the little extras such as fluffy towels and toiletries simply make for an effortless stay.
Cosy, inviting, and full of host-led comfort, Chalet Engelberg is a delightful choice for keen skiers, and offers a little slice of luxury with the additional touches.
Excellently located at the centre of one of Europe’s highest rated and best connected ski resorts, St Anton, Chalet Engelberg caters for both serious skiers as well as those who wish to enjoy the local village life. Visitors can enjoy proximity to the prestigious leisure centre (three pools and spa facilities) as well as local shops, whilst a short stroll will take guests to the infamous Piccadilly Pub, Kandahar and Bar Cuba - all setting the scene for a little unwinding after a day on the slopes.
A world-class ski base, as well as an authentic Austrian mountain village offering rustic Tyrolean architecture along with a legendary après-ski scene, St Anton is an excellent choice all-round.

Location
About the surrounding area of Chalet EngelbergChalet Engelberg is located within one of Europe’s highest rated and best connected ski resorts: St Anton, in Austria’s Arlberg region. Nestled just a few minutes walk from the base of a ski station, set back from the main shopping street, with access to all amenities offered by this famous Austrian resort, this chalet is exceptionally well located.
From the pedestrian main street, visitors can enjoy proximity to the sleek new leisure centre Well.Com which has several pools and spa facilities, as well as local shops. A short stroll will take guests to resort's most popular bars, setting the scene for a little unwinding after a day on the slopes. With a legendary après-ski scene, a pretty town centre bursting with traditional style chalets, lively restaurants and sense of original village life, as well as being one of the top five resorts in the Alps, it is difficult to go wrong when selecting a break in St Anton.
Despite its recent expansion, St Anton remains a rustic, Tyrolean village at heart, and many of the bars and shops are housed in centuries-old buildings or traditional style chalets, as well as being home to a 17th century church.
Skiing ranges from entry level to challenging, off-piste terrain, and a ski pass gives access to a substantial 340km of slopes. Known as the gateway to the Arlberg region, as well as its pioneering role in skiing technology, St Anton is also birthplace to Hannes Schneider (the father of modern skiing.) The infrastructure reflects this resort’s ski prestige, with a highly efficient lift system and connections to an array of different slopes.

The Resort
Nestled in the Austrian Alps, St Anton is the resort of many skiers dreams (albeit very different from its French counterparts). Based around an old mountain village in Tyrol, it is positively bustling with life. The centre of everything St Anton is the buzzing high street known as the Dorfstrasse. This is where shops, restaurants and bars abound, and as is typical of Austria, the food is fantastic and everything is great value for money. Most of the village is still made up of timber and stone farmhouses dating back centuries. This might make things look old-school, but the ski facilities and the world-renowned nightlife have certainly kept up with the years.
The main thing to keep in mind when planning your snow-filled adventures in St Anton is that the skiing here is not for beginners. There are some good slopes for first-timers in the quieter Nasserein, but intermediates and experts will have the most fun. They can ski not only St Anton but the whole of the Arlberg region (including Lech and Zurs) with the same lift pass. These resorts are connected by a world-class cableway known as the Flexenbahn so there’s no need for a bus unless you prefer it.
St Anton also happens to be one of the snowiest areas in all of Europe, both in early December as well as at the end of the season which tends to last well into April. This means you have very good odds of finding fresh powder on the pistes most mornings. In addition to the impressive 304 kilometres of slopes, there are also 200 kilometres worth of off-piste skiing available in challenging and exciting terrain.
And for those who still haven’t had enough excitement at the end of the day, you’ll be happy to know that St Anton is the party capital of the ski world. This is where you’ll find some of the biggest and craziest après-ski experiences, mainly thanks to the iconic Mooserwirt and Krazy Kanguruh bars that have been around since the 1960s. The town is also filled with live music and DJs all night long, to keep you on your dancing feet until its time to hit the slopes again.
Kids
Best Suited For: All AgesChalet Engelberg is an ideal choice for families with children. Starting on the slopes early at St Anton will be a breeze, with abundant children’s areas to choose from, along with comprehensive child-care and ski-school options.
Top picks for children’s skiing would be the base stations at the Galzig lift and the Nasserein lift. Easy slopes for the whole family to have fun together are also great options, among these are the Funslope Steffisalp in Warth, the Funslope Galzig and the Hoppelweg in St Anton.
If they tire of the slopes, children can enjoy the magical experience of riding on a horse sleigh, tobogganing, or some “splashy time” fun at the sports centre, Arlberg WellCom, which has a children’s pool, located at Hannes Schneider Weg.
The Museum St. Anton am Arlberg chronicles local ski history in a traditional chalet, which makes for an interesting visit.
