Location
About the surrounding area of Apartment ClematisSituated in Pralong, at the top of 1850, Apartment Clematis enjoys a quiet position with wonderful views over the Courchevel Valley, and with the slopes just moments away, it is the ideal spot for those looking for ski-in, ski-out convenience.
Just 30m from the nearest ski lift, guests can make the most of the mountain, and a vast offering of runs has something to suit all abilities. Part of the Trois Vallées, Courchevel is the ultimate ski resort, with a high-altitude, efficient lift system and majority of north-facing slopes that ensure a consistent deep snow cover. For those after a challenge, a variety of steep corridors and technical pistes can be found around La Saulire, or head to the Grand Couloir to try out L'Eclipse, an impressive fast run recently completed for the 2023 World Championships. Combe Saulire is a great signature red, whilst a handful of blues and green are perfect for those seeking a more gentle experience. Several nursery areas and dedicated beginner zones are ideal for first-timers, and there are plenty of ski schools and instructors to help build up confidence before moving further up the mountain.
Having attracted some of the world's most exclusive hotels, Courchevel boasts an impressive fine dining scene, whilst, for those simply after a midday snack, plenty of charming mountain restaurants can be found perched to the side of the slopes. Situated beside the airport, Le Pilatus is a great place to stop for lunch with a bird's eye view of the runway or visit La Cave des Creux, where you can sit out on the terrace and soak up the sun. Run by two brothers, the restaurant is a popular spot with locals and serves an authentic brasserie menu celebrating ingredients sourced from the surrounding region. Les Verdons is a fun spot to end the day with live music and dancing, or head to Le Caterail, where you can party with the DJ late into the night.
Courchevel has plenty to offer away from the slopes, with a variety of activities to be found on and off the mountains. A pedestrian lift pass is a good option for non-skiers to meet up with friends for lunch beside the slopes whilst also giving access to the resort's network of hiking trails. Hire a guide to take you into the heart of the valley, or hop on a sledge and be pulled through the scented pines by a pack of charming huskies. For those looking for a more thrilling experience, paragliding flights take place throughout the year or head over to Moriond, where you can speed down the impressive luge track.

The Resort
Courchevel is made up of six satellite villages, each with their own distinct style and atmosphere, and picturesque forest roads to lead you in-between. Most well known is the illustrious Courchevel 1850 with its reputation for exclusivity and an A-List clientele. 1850 is certainly the place to go for five-star hotels, swanky bars and extravagant nightlife. The other Courchevel villages (such as Courchevel Moriond) have a much more laid back vibe and are certainly the more affordable choice.
The skiing in Courchevel is split into four levels and you can take an excellent free ski bus in between. At the resort itself you have 150 kilometres of pistes at your feet and while you can get a Courchevel lift-pass you can also ski the whole of the Three Valleys with an area-pass. Since the slopes here face north, the snow at Courchevel is more reliable than elsewhere in the Three Valleys. Courchevel pistes are absolutely unrivaled, meticulously maintained and perfectly positioned to align with the landscape.
With its highest lift at 2740m altitude, Courchevel is exceptionally good for high altitude skiing with incredible alpine views, and the most impressive runs are best suited for intermediate and advanced skiers. But for the little ones just finding their snow legs, the resort has a fantastic children’s village where they can learn in a stress-free environment. Ski season here lasts until late April and even if you prefer not to ski at all, you’ll be well entertained with everything from scenic walks to classical music concerts.
In the evenings, the Courchevel night skies are lit up by spectacular firework displays that could get anyone in the mood for a night on the town. The bars here are a good mix of casual and upmarket, so there’s plenty for all tastes to enjoy when it comes to après-ski. Courchevel also has a well-earned reputation for being the best ski resort when it comes to gastronomy.
Kids
Best Suited For: All AgesWith its quiet location and cosy layout, Apartment Clematis will make the whole family feel right at home. A room with bunk beds is perfect for kids, and the snug living room invites you to return in the evenings and enjoy a relaxing night in, sharing home-cooked classics or curling up on the sofa to watch a movie.
With the lifts just 30m, the apartment is perfect for those looking to hit the slopes early, and the convenience of ski-in ski-out means younger ones won’t have to carry their gear far. An array of blue and green runs offer a more gentle experience, whilst dedicated beginners' zones and nursery areas are perfect for those just starting out. The resort also has plenty of ski schools, meaning you can drop the kids off to make friends and head up the mountain to enjoy more challenging runs.
Kids will love the toboggan runs, and the luge track at Moriond boasts an impressive descent, or spend a more leisurely afternoon being pulled along by a pack of huskies. 1850 also has a spectacular ice rink, where you can enjoy an evening of skating, or why not become a support and watch the local hockey team play a game.
