The Resort
Courchevel is made up of six satellite villages, each with their own distinct style and atmosphere, and picturesque forest roads to lead you in-between. Most well known is the illustrious Courchevel 1850 with its reputation for exclusivity and an A-List clientele. 1850 is certainly the place to go for five-star hotels, swanky bars and extravagant nightlife. The other Courchevel villages (such as Courchevel Moriond) have a much more laid back vibe and are certainly the more affordable choice.
The skiing in Courchevel is split into four levels and you can take an excellent free ski bus in between. At the resort itself you have 150 kilometres of pistes at your feet and while you can get a Courchevel lift-pass you can also ski the whole of the Three Valleys with an area-pass. Since the slopes here face north, the snow at Courchevel is more reliable than elsewhere in the Three Valleys. Courchevel pistes are absolutely unrivaled, meticulously maintained and perfectly positioned to align with the landscape.
With its highest lift at 2740m altitude, Courchevel is exceptionally good for high altitude skiing with incredible alpine views, and the most impressive runs are best suited for intermediate and advanced skiers. But for the little ones just finding their snow legs, the resort has a fantastic children’s village where they can learn in a stress-free environment. Ski season here lasts until late April and even if you prefer not to ski at all, you’ll be well entertained with everything from scenic walks to classical music concerts.
In the evenings, the Courchevel night skies are lit up by spectacular firework displays that could get anyone in the mood for a night on the town. The bars here are a good mix of casual and upmarket, so there’s plenty for all tastes to enjoy when it comes to après-ski. Courchevel also has a well-earned reputation for being the best ski resort when it comes to gastronomy.
Kids
Best Suited For: All AgesIf you're looking for a family-friendly apartment in Courchevel, look no further than Apartment Grand Solleit. This cosy Alpine haven offers a range of features and attractions that make it the perfect choice for a winter break with the kids.
A spacious interior with a twin bedroom and a cot and highchair on request make staying here with children stress-free, while the addition of WiFi and TVs in the bedrooms and lounge space ensure that they stay entertained.
One of the most appealing aspects for kids staying in this apartment is its convenient location. Situated a mere 20m from the slopes and 100m from the ski lifts, children have the luxury of an effortless start to their ski or snowboarding adventures. This easy access to the pristine slopes ensures that kids can fully embrace the magic of winter sports without the hassle of long commutes or complicated logistics.
Courchevel 1550 itself is renowned for its family-friendly atmosphere. The village provides a more intimate and relaxed environment than higher-altitude destinations, which is particularly welcoming for families. The nearby ESF 1550 ski school, with its experienced instructors, is perfect for children who are learning to ski or looking to improve their skills. The village also offers a kindergarten, catering to the needs of younger children and ensuring their comfort and safety. In addition, Courchevel 1550 is also home to a range of family-friendly restaurants and shops where kids can enjoy delicious Savoyard cuisine and après-ski treats and find unique souvenirs to remember their mountain adventure.
As well as exciting winter sports opportunities, the resort boasts a variety of activities that children of all ages can enjoy. The picturesque snowshoe trails are perfect for family walks in the snow, allowing kids to discover the beauty of the mountain landscape. Furthermore, paragliding adventures provide an unforgettable experience for older children, offering a bird's-eye view of the stunning French Alps.
For moments of relaxation and fun, the Aquamotion Aquatic Centre is easily accessible from the apartment. Kids can splash around in pools, enjoy waterslides, or unwind in the wellness facilities, making it a perfect spot for family bonding and leisure.
