Location
About the surrounding area of Le LapinNestled in the heart of the Courchevel Moriond ski resort, Le Lapin is the perfect spot to base yourselves for a fun-filled ski break. To get your holiday started, you can easily drive yourselves to Portetta from the UK or you can fly into Geneva Airport and transfer over from there. If you’re arriving via Geneva, expect the journey to take around two and a half hours between the airport and the resort.
As one of the ‘Three Valleys’ ski resorts, you’re ideally located between Courchevel Moriond’s sister resorts - Courchevel 1550 and Courchevel 1850. While each resort has a variety of pistes for each ability range, Courchevel Moriond is popular with groups of all ages thanks to its excellent selection of easy-going laid-back runs.
If you do fancy a more adventurous outing on the slopes, Courchevel 1850 has a series of advanced runs that can be accessed via the ski lift network between the three resorts. If you’re not much of a skier and would prefer to visit the shops and cafes of 1550 and 1850, a regular bus service runs between all three sites.
Courchevel Moriond is a well-designed and popular resort with a great selection of activities right on your doorstep. In the surrounding village, you’ll be able to find a great selection of shops, dine at exquisite restaurants, party in lively bars or take it easy and watch the skiers fly by from a trendy cafe. If you’re planning on making your own meals during your stay, a well-stocked supermarket is also located in the village within walking distance.

The Resort
Courchevel is made up of six satellite villages, each with their own distinct style and atmosphere, and picturesque forest roads to lead you in-between. Most well known is the illustrious Courchevel 1850 with its reputation for exclusivity and an A-List clientele. 1850 is certainly the place to go for five-star hotels, swanky bars and extravagant nightlife. The other Courchevel villages (such as Courchevel Moriond) have a much more laid back vibe and are certainly the more affordable choice.
The skiing in Courchevel is split into four levels and you can take an excellent free ski bus in between. At the resort itself you have 150 kilometres of pistes at your feet and while you can get a Courchevel lift-pass you can also ski the whole of the Three Valleys with an area-pass. Since the slopes here face north, the snow at Courchevel is more reliable than elsewhere in the Three Valleys. Courchevel pistes are absolutely unrivaled, meticulously maintained and perfectly positioned to align with the landscape.
With its highest lift at 2740m altitude, Courchevel is exceptionally good for high altitude skiing with incredible alpine views, and the most impressive runs are best suited for intermediate and advanced skiers. But for the little ones just finding their snow legs, the resort has a fantastic children’s village where they can learn in a stress-free environment. Ski season here lasts until late April and even if you prefer not to ski at all, you’ll be well entertained with everything from scenic walks to classical music concerts.
In the evenings, the Courchevel night skies are lit up by spectacular firework displays that could get anyone in the mood for a night on the town. The bars here are a good mix of casual and upmarket, so there’s plenty for all tastes to enjoy when it comes to après-ski. Courchevel also has a well-earned reputation for being the best ski resort when it comes to gastronomy.
Kids
Best Suited For: All AgesBringing little skiers along on holiday has never been easier than Le Lapin makes it. From the moment you arrive and get fitted for your ski equipment to the moment you say goodbye, Le Lapin and Courchevel Moriond are a great place for families.
At Portetta itself, your apartment has lots of opportunities for kids to relax and enjoy themselves. Once settled in, kids can easily connect to the property’s wireless internet, allowing them to keep up with their favourite media, play video games and keep in touch with friends and family back home.
A flat-screen TV is located in the living room, so you can easily snuggle up as a family to watch a movie after the sun goes down. Or, you can borrow a few board games from Portetta’s game library to play as a family.
Out in the village, kids can participate in adrenaline-fuelled snow fun with tobogganing sessions and group tubing activities down the piste, letting them meet other children at the resort and make new friends during their visit.
If you’re looking for a change of pace from snow, there’s still a great selection of activities available. Over in neighbouring Courchevel 1850, there are some great facilities for families, including a bowling alley and a cinema that regularly shows the latest blockbusters in English. While back in Courchevel Moriond, the nearby aqua centre offers family swims as well as kids-focussed play sessions.
