Overview
Let your penthouse dreams come true with L'Hibou - a beautifully rustic three-bedroom apartment located at the very top of the beautiful L'Hibou ski lodge. Offering breathtaking views of the French Alps and the village below, L'Hibou is a truly astounding place to base yourselves this ski season.
Ideal for families and groups of friends alike, L'Hibou has taken every care to make you feel like you’re visiting your home-away-from. With plenty of space throughout, L'Hibou can easily and comfortably accommodate up to six guests.
Entering L'Hibou, a long spacious hallway separates the property into two areas; living and sleeping. Your living area is a large open-plan living room and diner with two lounge areas pointing towards a flat-screen TV and a blazing open fire. Comfortable furniture invites you to rest and relax as a group following a day’s hard play on the pistes. The dining area has a large family-style table with views over your balcony and the treetops for lovely group meals. In its own room just off from the lounge is your well-equipped kitchen that contains all you’ll need to get up and go each day
Each bedroom at L'Hibou is well-spaced with a good amount of personal storage for your clothes and belongings. Two bedrooms have comfortable double beds while the third bedroom has two single beds. The two rooms with double beds have a private en-suite bathroom with a bathtub while the twin bedroom has a small shower room and use of a separate toilet room in the hallway.
There’s no need to worry about equipment storage as Portetta has a dedicated storage and maintenance facility at its entry, freeing up space within your apartment. All you need to do is check your items in and out each day and they’ll look after the rest.
In addition to equipment storage and maintenance, Portetta also houses an equipment rental shop, meaning you can get geared up and ready to hit the slopes without having to leave the lodge.
With your comfort in mind, you can dine at the on-site Cucina Angelina restaurant - a popular dining spot that puts an Italian twist on mountain classics. While L'Hibou comes with a fully-functioning kitchen, you can upgrade to a half board dining basis if you don’t feel like cooking much during your stay. At ground level, a trendy apres-ski bar offers drinks and light bites when you’re fresh off the slopes.
On top of all that, Portetta is also home to a world-class spa that offers a wonderfully relaxing range of rejuvenating beauty and wellness treatments.
What you should know…
- L'Hibou requires a minimum seven-day stay, visiting from Saturday to Saturday.
- Use of additional facilities within Portetta, like the spa and ski rental may incur additional charges.
- While all bedrooms have in-room wash facilities, not all rooms have toilets and require the use of shared toilet facilities.

Once in Courchevel Moriond, you’ll find L'Hibou within the dramatic Portetta lodge situated at the very base of the mountain, right beside the ski lift. Around Courchevel Moriond there are plenty of opportunities for socialising, with bars, restaurants, shops and cafes offering laid-back spots to hang out. Your shopping needs are also well looked after with a good-sized supermarket at the heart of the village stocking all your favourites.

You can also ski from one to another, though areas like Courchevel 1850 contain more complex runs than Courchevel Moriond so be sure to consult your piste map before doing so to make sure your skill levels are suitable for the journey.

The Resort
Courchevel is made up of six satellite villages, each with their own distinct style and atmosphere, and picturesque forest roads to lead you in-between. Most well known is the illustrious Courchevel 1850 with its reputation for exclusivity and an A-List clientele. 1850 is certainly the place to go for five-star hotels, swanky bars and extravagant nightlife. The other Courchevel villages (such as Courchevel Moriond) have a much more laid back vibe and are certainly the more affordable choice.
The skiing in Courchevel is split into four levels and you can take an excellent free ski bus in between. At the resort itself you have 150 kilometres of pistes at your feet and while you can get a Courchevel lift-pass you can also ski the whole of the Three Valleys with an area-pass. Since the slopes here face north, the snow at Courchevel is more reliable than elsewhere in the Three Valleys. Courchevel pistes are absolutely unrivaled, meticulously maintained and perfectly positioned to align with the landscape.
With its highest lift at 2740m altitude, Courchevel is exceptionally good for high altitude skiing with incredible alpine views, and the most impressive runs are best suited for intermediate and advanced skiers. But for the little ones just finding their snow legs, the resort has a fantastic children’s village where they can learn in a stress-free environment. Ski season here lasts until late April and even if you prefer not to ski at all, you’ll be well entertained with everything from scenic walks to classical music concerts.
In the evenings, the Courchevel night skies are lit up by spectacular firework displays that could get anyone in the mood for a night on the town. The bars here are a good mix of casual and upmarket, so there’s plenty for all tastes to enjoy when it comes to après-ski. Courchevel also has a well-earned reputation for being the best ski resort when it comes to gastronomy.
Kids
Best Suited For: All AgesThere are plenty of opportunities to keep little snow enthusiasts happy and entertained throughout your stay in Courchevel Moriond. When enjoying some well-earned home time, L'Hibou has great facilities for keeping little ones busy.
Your apartment comes with a great wireless internet connection that kids can use to connect to their personal devices. Once online, they can continue to use their devices as they would at home to stream their favourite media and keep in touch with friends. At the heart of your lounge area, a good-sized flat-screen TV provides opportunities to enjoy some quality time as a family, watching your favourite shows and movies. If you prefer some activities that don’t involve a screen, your apartment has a number of board games available to learn and play.
In the wider resort, kids can join family and friends on the pistes if they’re confident enough. If not, the resort has a wonderful ski school that will teach kids how to ski like the pros in no time. But if your kids are altogether opposed to skiing, there’s still plenty of snow-based activities they can get involved in like tobogganing and downhill tubing.
You can also break things up a little bit with a trip to Courchevel Moriond’s fantastic swim centre, Aquamotion, which is just a short drive away from L'Hibou. Here, kids can participate in fun-filled play sessions in the pool, hit the slides or just enjoy some time in the water with the rest of the family. If you’re thinking of visiting Aquamotion it’s worth noting that while you can walk to Aquamotion in about 20 minutes, it’s easier to drive or get a taxi.
