Location
About the surrounding area of Chalet IslandChalet Island is located in its own secluded Orchards, just an 8-10 minute drive from the nearest Olympie telecabine at Les Allues and a 15-20 minute drive to the centre of Méribel.
Méribel is a village with a true alpine heart. You won’t find blocks of hotels and purpose-built facilities here. Instead, the compact and lively town centre is picture-postcard perfect, and its atmosphere is quaint and fairytale-like. Meribel offers fantastic skiing and snowboarding for all levels of ability and a huge range of non-skiing activities.
It is without a doubt the most romantic resort in the area and if you’re planning a couples holiday in the snow you’ll definitely want to take a closer look at Méribel.
At the centre of the world famous Trois Vallées (Three Valleys), Méribel makes up part of the largest ski domain in the world. It has over 150km of pistes, plenty of backcountry and off-piste skiing and snow cannons cover 65% of the ski area.
Across the valleys, it has six sister resorts. You can either get a single-resort lift pass and keep to the fantastic beginner and intermediate terrain there, but you also have the option of purchasing a pass that covers the whole area.
The advanced lift system at Méribel will let you maximise your time on the snow and make sure you’re not waiting around in queues. With 67 runs to try out just in the resort itself, there is no time to be wasted. Just beware of the afternoon sun cutting things short on the west-facing slopes and prepare to get up with the sun if you’re after untouched powder. At it’s highest skiing point Méribel reaches an altitude of 2952 metres and the descent from this point is known to be one of the most scenic runs around.
Aside from the world-class skiing, Méribel is also known to be one of the liveliest resorts in the Three Valleys. Many of its residents and bar-owners (as well as plenty of its visitors) are expat-Brits who certainly know how to party. The après-ski scene here is truly top-notch!

Sledging can be loads of fun for the family or the big kids when you've had enough of skiing for the day or want to try out something new. There are designated areas for it as well as a fully secure area dedicated to sledging for the little kids. You can also sledge at the Rond Point area where there is a magic carpet to take you back to the top of the slope! There is even night sledging in Meribel Mottaret; you can sledge down the Himalaya green slope back down into the centre of Meribel Mottaret.

The chalet accommodations provide families a cosy retreat after a day on the slopes, with essential amenities and entertainment options for children. Owner Profile
What was it about the property that you first fell in love with?
It's the best chalet in the valley - so I bought it.
Are there any interesting stories in its history?
How many ski chalets have their own orchard, own cider, deer in the garden and natural water supply? The nearest building is the ancient town bread oven, from the 18th century. Bread was allowed to be baked once a month, and only after the town seigneur had received his bread tax. (But now you can make your own bread in the chalet breadmaker).
What’s the strangest or most difficult guest request you’ve ever received?
One guest always insists in having 10 pillows on his bed, just for him !
For anyone coming to stay is there anything in the surrounding area they should...
Really do? Use the telescope to see skiers in La Plagne, Couchevel and Meribel (and the siamese cat in the village opposite)
Lastly, what insider tip would you pass on about the property or the area?
This chalet is an insider tip. only for people in the know

Fantastic chalet
We were 12 people and the place made us feel like we were 2. It's so comfortable we felt like we were staying at a seven-start hotel.

Outstanding
The chalet somehow combines traditional chalet style with an impressive range of modern technology, making it the most luxurious home away from home. It is equipped with everything our family could have possibly wanted.
