Overview

Ski Chalet Wellness Self-Catered Ideal for Kids Hot Tub Walk to Village Parking Space

Located on the outskirts of popular Chamonix, Chalet Tempeste is a lovely country-style home with Alpine accents throughout. Blending traditional wood highlights with modern style, Chalet Tempeste cuts a chic image for skiers who like the finer things in life.

This fabulous chalet is deceptively spacious within, set across three floors plus a cosy basement level. If you’re planning to self-drive to Chalet Tempeste, ample parking is provided for residents with a private garage and additional space outside.

Entering Chalet Tempeste for the first time, a warm hallway gives way to a dedicated storeroom for your ski equipment, complete with boot warmers. To the rear of the boot room, a private office and toilet room offer additional space to focus and work if needed.

Moving into the main space, a large modern lounge filled with plush sofas is gathered around an open fire with stunning views of the mountains from large windows that fill the room with natural light. Adjacent to the living room, an open-plan dining room and kitchen space open up. Compact but well-equipped, your kitchen has everything you need to whip up and enjoy delicious meals as a group.

On the first level of the chalet are three well-sized bedrooms dressed in simple comfortable stylings. Bedroom one has two twin beds that can be pushed together to form a double and has access to a private en-suite shower room. Bedrooms two and three have either a double bed or two twin beds and direct access to an outdoor balcony via patio doors. These two rooms do not have private en-suite facilities, instead sharing a communal shower room.

The fourth bedroom is located on the top floor, tucked away in an attic-style room with a double bed and a single bed that can sleep three guests - ideal for families with small children. Across the hallway is a family-style bathroom with a bathtub for us.

A laundry room and additional living space are located in the basement with a large cosy library room filled with comfortable sofas and armchairs for relaxing.

At ground level, Chalet Tempeste has additional outdoor dining facilities, should the weather allow for it, as well as a private hot tub.

The Resort

Chamonix is often preceded by its own reputation. As one of the most famous ski resorts in the world, it has visitors travelling from all corners of the world to experience the epic runs year after year. The Chamonix town centre, also known as Chamonix-Mont-Blanc, is an endlessly inviting little city with enough going on to entertain skiers and non-skiers alike for weeks on end. For those travelling from the UK, it is fabulously easy to reach. You can drive straight from Calais by motorway and be set up in a gorgeous chalet in less than half a day.

The Chamonix Valley encompasses five main ski areas on four different mountains (with easy transfers in between). You can get yourself a single-resort lift pass or one that encompasses the whole valley. If you go with the latter option you’ll even have access to the Italian side of the valley in Courmayeur. The wider area encompasses 106 pistes at up to 3842m altitude and unparalleled off-piste runs.

Most of Chamonix’s ski areas are best suited to those who already feel at home on a pair of skis. Beginners definitely won’t get as much out of this valley as those who are comfortable tackling a black run. But that’s not saying Chamonix is unromantic by any means. There is incredible scenery for everyone to enjoy, from non-skiers to experts, and nature lovers will fall in love with the Chamonix in summer too. Ski season, however, often lasts until mid-March.

Once the skiing is over at the end of the day you’ll still find plenty to keep you occupied in town. There is an excellent selection of restaurants to choose from, ranging from Michelin starred fine dining to street food that will line your stomach for the après-ski (and rest assured there are dozens of great bars and clubs to choose from!)

Chamonix is a wonderful place to bring your kids along to, especially when Chalet Tempeste is your base of operations.

Starting with home base, kids can make use of the chalet’s wireless internet to plug into their personal devices and surf the web. Whether they’re watching the latest episode of their favourite show or streaming music while playing video games, Chalet Tempeste lets them relax in the ways they prefer.

When choosing where to do that unwinding, Chalet Tempeste has an excellent choice of locations around the chalet. Kids can retreat to their bedrooms and relax in bed, they can kick back on the sofas in the main lounge, keeping warm by the fireplace, or they can tuck themselves away in the basement snug for a few hours of peace and quiet.

Around Chamonix resort, kids can get involved in a fantastic range of snow and ice based activities. On the opposite end of tow, the Patinoire de Chamonix is an Olympic-sized indoor ice rink offering fun-filled skating sessions as well as adrenaline-filled ice hockey matches.

On the mountain, kids can join other little adventure seekers for tubing and tobogganing activities organised by resort staff - helping them to make new friends and amazing memories during their visit.

    on 01/02/2022

Wonderful chalet. Much bigger than expected. We were group of 7 and had plenty of space. The hot tub was amazing after day of skiing. Would definitely stay here again next year!

  • Magical stay

    on 01/07/2021

This chalet is truly magical! I cannot say enough good things about the the chalet itself, the location, the hot tub, the VIEW and the beautiful private garden that is just so fabulous!

  • Fabulous

    on 01/08/2020

A fabulous chalet, 10 mins walk from the centre of Chamonix.

It comfortably accommodated our group of 10, (adults and children) and the hosts were extremely welcoming and provided brilliant recommendations for things to do and places to eat.

Everything was extremely well maintained, the garden secluded, the beds comfortable and lovely products provided.

  • Highly recommend!

Highly recommend! Beautiful Chalet, great host, family friendly with spectacular views

  • Perfect for a group

    Created on 16/03/2016

Gosh - just perfect for a group. The location was an easy walk to the main bus which really helps if you want a seat. For a group - we are a family of skiers (not spa people) - this is the perfect chalet for location, comfort and well attended to for any needs that come up.

  • An amazing spot!

    Created on 28/02/2015

What an amazing spot!.....The location was very convenient - nice and close to the buses, but also nice and quiet. Try the L'impossible restaurant for a treat. The highlight, however, was the hot tub which had amazing views of the mountains. This place is an absolute must.
