In a stunning setting in the Chamonix Valley, this jewel of a chalet offers beautiful accommodation alongside a high-end level of service, with a ski-in ski-out location at the foot of one of the region’s most famous pistes.

As you are greeted on arrival with a glass of champagne, this sets the scene for your days ahead. Gather in the open-plan living space, admire its contemporary elegance and gaze out towards the snow-capped mountains that are perfectly framed by the floor to ceiling windows.

The hospitality at Chalet Saphir is second to none – imagine returning to your chalet for warm drinks and afternoon cakes by the open fire, then being served a high quality three-course evening meal with fine wines on the long dining table. A delicious breakfast is also prepared each morning and bathrooms are cleaned six days a week, allowing you to sit back and relax during your time in this stylish abode.

A fantastic chalet for families or friends, there are flexible sleeping options across the ground and upper floors ranging from a spacious family room with bunk-beds to six welcoming double or twin bedrooms, most with en suite bath or shower rooms.
Other ultramodern features include two contemporary kitchens (one with incredible views), underfloor heating, a Sonos music system and of course Wi-Fi throughout. The beautifully designed sauna is yet another treat or experience more alpine luxury in the outdoor hot tub on the lower decked terrace.

Set in Les Houches, a popular skiing area around 8km from Chamonix, you are within walking distance to shops and restaurants whilst even closer is a ski-lift and cable car, making this a perfect location in so many ways. Les Houches offers a variety of runs, including the renowned Kandahar piste as well as more leisurely slopes through charming woodland, always surrounded by spectacular scenery. There are also some great options for families with an enchanting snow park and sledging.

Shuttles buses will whisk you towards other skiing spots close to Chamonix and beyond, even across the Italian border to Courmayeur, just 25km away. Wherever you decide to go, the chalet’s staff can help arrange equipment hire, ski passes and lessons for you to make the most of your time in this glorious valley.

The Resort

Chamonix is often preceded by its own reputation. As one of the most famous ski resorts in the world, it has visitors travelling from all corners of the world to experience the epic runs year after year. The Chamonix town centre, also known as Chamonix-Mont-Blanc, is an endlessly inviting little city with enough going on to entertain skiers and non-skiers alike for weeks on end. For those travelling from the UK, it is fabulously easy to reach. You can drive straight from Calais by motorway and be set up in a gorgeous chalet in less than half a day.

The Chamonix Valley encompasses five main ski areas on four different mountains (with easy transfers in between). You can get yourself a single-resort lift pass or one that encompasses the whole valley. If you go with the latter option you’ll even have access to the Italian side of the valley in Courmayeur. The wider area encompasses 106 pistes at up to 3842m altitude and unparalleled off-piste runs.

Most of Chamonix’s ski areas are best suited to those who already feel at home on a pair of skis. Beginners definitely won’t get as much out of this valley as those who are comfortable tackling a black run. But that’s not saying Chamonix is unromantic by any means. There is incredible scenery for everyone to enjoy, from non-skiers to experts, and nature lovers will fall in love with the Chamonix in summer too. Ski season, however, often lasts until mid-March.

Once the skiing is over at the end of the day you’ll still find plenty to keep you occupied in town. There is an excellent selection of restaurants to choose from, ranging from Michelin starred fine dining to street food that will line your stomach for the après-ski (and rest assured there are dozens of great bars and clubs to choose from!)

Kids

Les Houches is a great option for families with lots to do across this area and beyond for varying abilities. In terms of pistes you will find two green runs, 8 blue and 13 red runs as well as four challenging black runs.

There is a great snow park for youngsters at the top of the Prarion gondola where you will find sledging, snow tubing and other family-friendly activities as well as loads of space to simply play in the snow.

Ice-skating is also a fun activity for all the family both in Les Houches and an indoor rink in Chamonix.

The Chamonix Valley also offers skiing with horses, dog-sledding and the charming red railway to Montenvers, from Chamonix, which takes you up to visit the ice caves in the winter months.
