Overview
Rustic and cosy Chalet Borsat sleeps up to eight guests in four fantastic, en suite bedrooms. It is located in Chemin du Petit Alaska - 1.2 km from the centre of Val d'Isère and is nestled into the hillside, surrounded by beautiful mountains and other chalets - creating a sense of community as well as offering fabulous views of snowy hills. The ski lifts, shops, eateries and exciting centre of Val d’Isere are all only a few minutes away by car, but this quiet road makes for the best mountain holiday retreat location.
This chalet is proudly showing off its original timber and stone features which are so typical for the region of Savoy, but also offsetting those with contemporary furnishings, modern appliances such as a vast fridge freezer, dishwasher and electric coffee machine and quirky accessories and art. The house is peppered with red accents throughout, which add pops of colour to the otherwise cosy earthy palette of browns and beiges. Playful clashes of textures spark interest - glass, leather, fluffiness and metal, all work together very well in this space!
First floor is the main living floor. The focus here is the double height of its large sofa area with open-hearth fireplace, supported by enormous windows with some fantastic south facing views of the slopes and the twinkling lights of other villas at night. Plenty of chilling space for everyone on comfortable leather sofas with the dining table seating eight just next to it. Open plan kitchen is separated by a mini bar. Perfect space for a pre dinner aperitif, unless your sore muscles call for a hot tub which is located on the terrace on this floor, through large French doors. Views to die for! Up from here, on the mezzanine - there’s a fantastic double bedroom with sloped ceiling, desk space and a fantastic en suite bathroom with both a spacious shower and a bath in the middle of the room, perfect for a couple! Down one floor from the living area, you will find further three bedrooms, all en suite and all decorated impeccably. Also on this floor is hamman, if the hot tub outside seems like a bold proposition or the weather is too rough!
What you should know…
- There is private parking for two cars at the property.
- Chambery is the nearest airport and it takes roughly two hours to get there but allow plenty more when it snows! Grenoble and Geneva are slightly further, 2h30min - 3h30min.

Location
About the surrounding area of Chalet BorsatVal d’Isere is one of the world’s most famous ski destinations. It is located in the heart of the French Alps and offers some of the best slopes in the world. It is also one of the highest and most snow secure resorts in the French Alps, sitting at an altitude of 1850m, with quick access to numerous glaciers, some of which are open for summer skiing. The resort has an enviable snow record and can be relied on to provide world-class skiing from the end of November through to the beginning of May. The ski terrain on offer is incredibly varied and, combined with the neighbouring resort of Tignes, makes up the Tignes-Val d'Isère ski area which ranks among the largest ski areas in the world, with over 300km of pistes.
Val D’Isere itself is a combination of sophisticated and modern with historic (charming 17th century church in its centre) and enjoys a spectacular natural setting, at the bottom of a steep valley and surrounded by dramatic cliffs and the lovely Lac du Chevril at its entrance. Despite what people might think, it has plenty to offer for non-skiers. Many of the ski lifts are pedestrian-friendly, providing access to mountain restaurants and scenic walks around the Lac de l'Ouillette and the Col de l'Iseran. There is an outdoor ice-skating rink, Centre Aquasportif, a bowling alley, snowmobiling and ice diving to try. Val d'Isère's attractive centre is a fantastic place for a wander and a visit to its excellent restaurants, bars and good selection of shops. Foodies won't be disappointed - there are Michelin starred spots in this gastronomic resort, which counts L'Atelier d'Edmond and La Table de l'Ours among its fine dining establishments. There are also plenty of less formal restaurants, such as pizza places or eateries offering Savoyard specialities - fondue, raclette or tartiflette. The nightlife in Val d'Isère is all about Cocorico, Le Petit Danois and Dick's Tea Bar, but there are plenty of elegant bars for a quieter drink too. Try La Mourra or Le Blizzard! Shopping fan? You can buy everything from local cheese and vintage wines to designer ski wear and fine art. Skiing equipment can be brought with you or alternatively, you can buy it here or rent it.

The Resort
Val d’Isere is the oldest of the French ski resorts and a gleaming icon at the end of the valley where the residential town lies. Surrounded by what is arguably some of the most beautiful mountain landscape in the world, the chalet village is centred around a charming baroque church. It’s a lovely place for wandering, taking in the cosy atmosphere and spending quality time with your favourite people.
Val d’Isere is composed of three skiing sections. These are La Daille, Val d’Isere centre and Le Fornet, all of which are linked by a free shuttle service. Alongside Tignes, the resort is part of a wider ski area known as Espace Killy, and a lift pass will get you access to its entirety. Ski season in both resorts stretches as long as May.
Thanks to its high altitude, Val d’Isere is probably your most snow sure option for skiing in the French Alps. The village rests at 1850 metres and its peak on top of the La Grande Motte glacier is 3456 metres high. Sixty per cent of the resort’s pistes are set above 2200 metres, meaning that the skiing is consistently good but on rare occasions, bad weather can cause the slopes to close. It’s also important to keep in mind that Val d’Isere isn’t the best choice if you’re just finding your feet on the snow, and beginners may well find themselves challenged. On the flipside, Val d’Isere is one of the top choices for experienced skiers and snowboarders, with plenty of challenging black runs (such as the iconic Face the Bellevarde, where the 1992 Olympic men’s downhill was run).
And to go with some of the most exciting and picturesque skiing in France, down in the village you’ll find some amazing bars and restaurants. What better way to celebrate conquering that tricky black run than by indulging in some equally entertaining après-ski? On the mountain itself, you can start your evening with DJ’s and live music at La Folie Douce until the lifts close and then work your way into town.
Kids
Best Suited For: All AgesBecome an arctic explorer with furry friends and go dog sledding! You will be whisked around Val d'Isère by the dogs who love their job and love showing you around the resort. Either drive your own dog sled or sit back and enjoy the ride. Up for some igloo building? Perfect fun for anyone who would like to experience something quite special. Try Val d'Isère's ice driving track, sponsored by BMW. The 800m long track features 16 turns, ideal for thrill-seekers. Ice driving is not for families with very young children. Next to the driving course is a karting track, where you can see how you compare to your teammates behind the wheel. Karting is suitable for those aged 14 and above. The fabulous outdoor ice skating rink is open 7 days a week so you can practise your skills any day during your holiday. Hot chocolate and mulled wine served nearby! An ice skating session is a must for a holiday in the snow!
Families of young children can enjoy the sledging area on the nursery slope located to the left of the Savonette lift. Tobogganing is a great way to keep the little ones entertained. The sledging is free and open from 10:00 to 17:00 daily (sledges are not provided). All those muscles big and small can be relaxed in water, so do visit centre Aquasportif which is dedicated to wellbeing with top facilities, equipment, wide range of classes and services in an impressive 5000m2 of water!
