You will be greeted with a welcome bottle of champagne and a selection of spirits and soft drinks, a delicious breakfast will be prepared for you each day, a scrummy afternoon tea will be waiting for you when you return from the mountain and there is a daily shuttle service to and from the slopes. A chalet manager will be at your disposal during your stay ensuring that the cleaning services, breakfasts, afternoon teas, shuttle services and concierge services run smoothly. You may well be interested in a private chef, babysitters or restaurant reservations. Chalet Jour is perfect for groups of friends, a large family or perhaps even two families. If you are a larger group, you may also want to book our Chalet Nuit next door which enjoys the same design but with a totally contrasting interior colour palette. Whereas Chalet Jour enjoys delightful ivory and silver tones, Chalet Nuit boasts mesmerising anthracite and black hues.
This truly magnificent chalet is nestled in one of the most exclusive and prestigious ski areas in France. Val d’Isere is nestled at the foot of the glacier that feeds the Isere River and is protected by the Daille gorge. Its mighty mountains, the Solaise and the Face de Bellevarde are famous for the exploits of some of the greatest sporting champions. With links to Tignes, guests enjoy a massive ski playground. Val d’Isere itself boasts 300km of slopes, a snowpark and incredible apres-ski, gourmet dining and boutique shopping options. The heart of Val d’Isere oozes an authentic Savoyard charm throughout its pretty, cobbled streets lined with stone houses. Chalet Jour and its sister chalet sit quietly in total privacy at the entrance to the resort.
The interior designer of the chalet cannot fail to impress. Chalet Jour’s cool alpine stone blends beautifully with marble, beautiful wood, plush fabrics, stainless steel and gorgeous ceramic tiling. You will be captivated by the craftsmanship and attention to detail throughout the chalet. It is very clear to see the effort and cost that has been spent to create an environment where you will feel totally indulged and relaxed.
Aside from the smart exterior, the first glimpse of luxury you will be greeted with on arrival at Chalet Jour is the state-of-the-art swimming pool and hammam area. The pool is equipped with superb ‘endless pool’ swim jets. This magnificently designed area comes complete with its own hammam and massage table. You may like to book the services of a masseuse for an extra treat during your stay. You will discover creative stepping stones over the pool, relaxation sofas and power showers. It is very much five star boutique hotel rather than typical ski chalet.
The main living space of Chalet Jour definitely offers the wow factor! It is a masterpiece of shimmering tones, first class furnishings and phenomenal design with a suggestion of Savoyard charm. The lounge area boasts an attractive wooden vaulted ceiling and a wall of glass doors and windows which lead to a large terrace. It also offers sumptuous sofas adorned with plush cushions along with majestic armchairs which all sit in front of an atmospheric crackling fire. Beyond the lounge area, you will discover a sophisticated, very sociable dining table and chairs where you can enjoy your delicious breakfasts, tasty afternoon teas and scrummy evening meals. Your home cinema room is brilliantly equipped for cosy movie nights. You can laze on the plush sofas watching the big screen with a chilled glass of wine or perhaps a hot chocolate. The youngsters in your group will not want to leave this exquisite room with its multiple television channels, extensive movie library and Playstation. Your chef’s dream of a kitchen is like a work of art with its top-of-the-range professional appliances, gorgeous stainless steel and wood cabinetry and its striking mosaic floor.
Chalet Jour boasts five luxury bedroom suites which offer sumptuous furnishings, characterful ceilings, crisp cottons and luxury soft furnishings on the beds and top notch bathroom fittings. You will sleep like kings, resting your aching legs and dreaming of the ski slopes.

The Resort
Val d’Isere is the oldest of the French ski resorts and a gleaming icon at the end of the valley where the residential town lies. Surrounded by what is arguably some of the most beautiful mountain landscape in the world, the chalet village is centred around a charming baroque church. It’s a lovely place for wandering, taking in the cosy atmosphere and spending quality time with your favourite people.
Val d’Isere is composed of three skiing sections. These are La Daille, Val d’Isere centre and Le Fornet, all of which are linked by a free shuttle service. Alongside Tignes, the resort is part of a wider ski area known as Espace Killy, and a lift pass will get you access to its entirety. Ski season in both resorts stretches as long as May.
Thanks to its high altitude, Val d’Isere is probably your most snow sure option for skiing in the French Alps. The village rests at 1850 metres and its peak on top of the La Grande Motte glacier is 3456 metres high. Sixty per cent of the resort’s pistes are set above 2200 metres, meaning that the skiing is consistently good but on rare occasions, bad weather can cause the slopes to close. It’s also important to keep in mind that Val d’Isere isn’t the best choice if you’re just finding your feet on the snow, and beginners may well find themselves challenged. On the flipside, Val d’Isere is one of the top choices for experienced skiers and snowboarders, with plenty of challenging black runs (such as the iconic Face the Bellevarde, where the 1992 Olympic men’s downhill was run).
And to go with some of the most exciting and picturesque skiing in France, down in the village you’ll find some amazing bars and restaurants. What better way to celebrate conquering that tricky black run than by indulging in some equally entertaining après-ski? On the mountain itself, you can start your evening with DJ’s and live music at La Folie Douce until the lifts close and then work your way into town.
Kids
Best Suited For: All AgesChalet Jour is perfect for a large family or perhaps even two families. It offers five exceptional bedroom suites, sleeping up to ten guests. The living space is absolutely stunning and there is a brilliant home cinema room with sumptuous sofas, a huge screen, an excellent choice of movies and channels and Playstation. The swimming pool is always a massive hit with families.
Val d’Isere is a brilliant resort for families. It enjoys three main beginners areas and a brilliant selection of ski schools and private ski instructors. For very young ones, there are a few slopes and lifts at the bottom of the resort that are free and you do not need to buy a ski pass. This includes the ‘Le Village’ chairlift and the ‘La Savonette’ button lift which are in the heart of the resort. At the top of the Solaise, there is another excellent beginner area with two magic carpets, a great way to learn with confidence. There are some good value family passes available. The ski schools have mastered the art of combining skiing with fun activities so that children enjoy the experience. Val Kids is an exciting adventure programme for little ones. They learn about the mountain, the skiing and the people who work there. Val Kids is divided into four zones, one a playground to understand about the different jobs in the resort, another a fun piste with games, another an thrilling toboggan run and lastly a mini ski-cross course for learning new ski techniques. Val Kids is located on Solaise and Bellevarde.
Away from the slopes, children can enjoy many other snow-based and non-snow-based activities. Sledging is such good fun and the good old-fashioned snow ball fights remain so popular. There are husky sleigh rides and tobogganing to enjoy too. Snake gliss is a fun ride with sledges slotted together for children aged four and over. Yooner is a sledge on one ski for six year olds and Airboard is a bodyboard on snow for those aged nine and over.
For part of the ski season, Val d’Isere hosts a traditional pedestrian evening with illuminations, percussion music, giant snow sculptures and light shows. There is lots of hot chocolate and mulled wine on offer. The resort also hosts giant slalom races on the Savonette slopes.
The sports centre is excellent with an ice rink, swimming pools, tennis, a climbing wall, electric snowmobiles with a track designed for children aged five to twelve and much more.
