Overview
Chalet Marianne is an ultra-stylish penthouse chalet apartment for eight, emanating quintessential Alpine style along with contemporary finesse, in the very heart of upmarket ski resort, Val d’Isère. This sleek pad is the perfect bolthole for a skiing break in supreme comfort within a seamlessly serviced set up. Guests can enjoy the benefit of simply arriving and indulging in what they came for: unrivalled piste access to one of Europe’s finest ski infrastructures.
Upon arrival, guests will be greeted with a champagne welcome, followed by a three course first night meal, finished up with after dinner coffee and mints. With full catering and host-led care, guests need not worry about grocery shopping and forgetting to pick up essentials - they can rest in the knowledge that Chalet Marianne offers a full experience: indulgence, comfort and relaxation.
Just to add an extra layer of pampering, a range of optional extra services can be selected: imagine simply arriving at Chalet Marianne, knowing that ski passes, ski school bookings and that all-important equipment hire are covered! Then, returning at the end of a busy day, guests will be greeted with a warm welcome of a home cooked meal served with quintessential Alpine hospitality.
The interiors at Chalet Marianne channel a Scandi vibe, with a chalet-chic touch of rustic; exquisitely cosy, the open-plan living and dining space has a hearty open-fire as its centre-piece: what better way to reconvene at the end of the day as a family or group. With high ceilings, exposed timber, ambient lighting and top-grade fittings, this home strikes the perfect balance between home-like and lavish, for something rather special. Taking it a level up, this inviting home has its own sauna, an ideal luxury extra, when it comes to stretching those sore limbs after a day perfecting turns on the slopes. Leading from the living space, guests can enjoy the tranquillity of their own balcony - breathing in the fresh mountain air truly sets the tone for an Alpine experience.
The elegant bedrooms are polished with understated style, indulgent fabrics and serenity, each with its own stylish bathroom complete with fluffy towels and luxe toiletries. For a little extra pampering, massages can be booked, and orders for personal favourites whether it be a preferred beer or a bottle of champagne.
Nestled in the heart of Val d’Isère, Chalet Marianne enjoys the best of direct piste access as well as proximity to the bustling historical centre, the well-heeled boutiques and eateries and buzzing après-ski scene that Val d’Isère is also known for. Val d’Isère is in the Savoie region of the French Alps, close to the border with Italy, and together with the neighbouring purpose-built ski location Tignes, it is known as the Espace-Killy (also where Olympic skier Jean-Claude Killy was born and raised.)
A few years back, Val d’Isere was known as being suitable only for confident skiers, carrying a certain prestige with its advanced infrastructure, off-piste potential and the infamous 915m drop on the black-rated “Face de Bellevard;” today, however, Val d’Isère is ideal for all levels of ski competency, with nursery slopes, ski schools and beginners areas, notably around La Daille. Downtown Val d’Isère has a historical centre with a 17th-century church, traditional homes clad in timber and stone, as well as a cosmopolitan shopping and dining area centred around Avenue Olympique. Non-ski opportunity takes the form of an excellent leisure centre, spas, the Vanoise national park and a network of breathtaking hiking trails.

Location
About the surrounding area of Chalet MarianneVal d’Isère is one of Europe’s most prestigious ski resorts, catering to all levels and competencies, in the Savoie region of the French Alps, close to the borders with Italy. Together with neighbouring purpose-built ski area Tignes, the area is known as the Espace Killy (also the birthplace of Olympic skier Jean-Claude Killy.) The town continues to host an array of annual ski events and competitions, and is known for its excellent connections and advanced ski infrastructure, as well as its exceptionally long ski season (lasting to the beginning of May) and its superb snow quality.
Boasting an impressive 3,400km of pistes with some 78 lifts, Val d’Isère has a certain kudos among the ski world, and it’s known for its key spots like the steep Face de Bellevarde, a black-rated piste with an iconic 915m drop, and the Grande Motte glacier, offering 20km of summer ski runs. Although it was a few years ago considered a confident skiers destination, today Val d’Isère has seen improvements in infrastructure for beginners and families, such as gondolas with heated seats and Wi-Fi, a giant magic carpet, nursery pistes with reduced slope gradient and ski schools catering for beginners, notably around La Daille.
Retaining a sense of old-world charm, Val d’Isère blends the chocolate-box pretty “old town” complete with 17th-century church and high-end boutiques, restaurants and cosmopolitan resort buzz. The après-ski scene sees Val d’Isère also hold a high position as a party destination - La Folie Douce is one of its central evening attractions, offering performance, live music and international DJ appearances.
Away from the pistes, this pretty town offers a selection of prestigious spas, a sleek leisure centre and a network of stunning mountain trails for biking and hiking in the warmer seasons, and proximity to the beautiful Vanoise National Park for wild-life spotting.

The Resort
Val d’Isere is the oldest of the French ski resorts and a gleaming icon at the end of the valley where the residential town lies. Surrounded by what is arguably some of the most beautiful mountain landscape in the world, the chalet village is centred around a charming baroque church. It’s a lovely place for wandering, taking in the cosy atmosphere and spending quality time with your favourite people.
Val d’Isere is composed of three skiing sections. These are La Daille, Val d’Isere centre and Le Fornet, all of which are linked by a free shuttle service. Alongside Tignes, the resort is part of a wider ski area known as Espace Killy, and a lift pass will get you access to its entirety. Ski season in both resorts stretches as long as May.
Thanks to its high altitude, Val d’Isere is probably your most snow sure option for skiing in the French Alps. The village rests at 1850 metres and its peak on top of the La Grande Motte glacier is 3456 metres high. Sixty per cent of the resort’s pistes are set above 2200 metres, meaning that the skiing is consistently good but on rare occasions, bad weather can cause the slopes to close. It’s also important to keep in mind that Val d’Isere isn’t the best choice if you’re just finding your feet on the snow, and beginners may well find themselves challenged. On the flipside, Val d’Isere is one of the top choices for experienced skiers and snowboarders, with plenty of challenging black runs (such as the iconic Face the Bellevarde, where the 1992 Olympic men’s downhill was run).
And to go with some of the most exciting and picturesque skiing in France, down in the village you’ll find some amazing bars and restaurants. What better way to celebrate conquering that tricky black run than by indulging in some equally entertaining après-ski? On the mountain itself, you can start your evening with DJ’s and live music at La Folie Douce until the lifts close and then work your way into town.
Kids
Best Suited For: All AgesChalet Marianne offers a seamless chalet experience for the whole family, whilst the resort has seen improvements in facilities for beginners over recent years. Val d’Isère has three main beginners areas and an array of ski schools for children as young as 18 months, teaching in both French and English.
Recommended for little ones or learners is “Le Village” chairlift and “La Savonette” button-lift, two free ski lifts in the heart of the resort; heading from here to the top of the Solaise, there is a new beginner area with two covered magic carpets. Ski schools blend off-slope fun and entertainment with learning for children, catering to their needs and ensuring it is a fun experience all round.
When little legs tire of the slopes, there’s a selection of other snow-based and non-snow-based options, including snowboarding and sledging, or perhaps heading to the ice rink will make for a change. The leisure centre in Val d’Isère has pools, tennis and a climbing wall, whilst tobogganing or husky sleigh rides will leave them with enchanting memories of the slopes.
