Location
About the surrounding area of Chalet Grand DucChalet Grand-Duc is ideally situated for guests to make the most of all that the stunning Portes du Soleil has to offer. Located in a picturesque corner of Montriond, the charming sister village to the nearby town of Morzine, the chalet offers plenty of warm sunshine, stunning mountain vistas and the essence of alpine freedom, with a host of convenient amenities nearby.
The Ardent cable car is only 5km away, with a complimentary shuttle bus stopping 250m away in the winter and summer seasons. The Ardent cable car provides direct access to the Avoriaz ski area, featuring 600km of sunny slopes to suit all levels, where skiers and snowboarders can roam between Morzine, Châtel and Switzerland. For novice skiers and young families, there are plenty of fantastic green and blue slopes around Avoriaz, where you can spend the afternoon exploring at your own pace. Later on, foodies will be thrilled to find a wide array of excellent French and Swiss restaurants dotted across the ski area. Enjoy a delicious and hearty lunch on a sun-soaked terrace after a morning spent skiing in the fresh mountain air.
Les Lindarets is a scenic nearby village at the heart of the Portes du Soleil ski area, offering a dazzling white playground for skiers and snowboarders to enjoy. When summer arrives, Les Lindarets becomes a quaint alpine village where hundreds of goats roam the streets in place of winter sports enthusiasts! Take care driving or cycling here but do make sure to visit to take in this incredibly unique sight, accompanied by the dreamlike sound of chiming bells.
Afterwards, visit the emerald waters of Lake Montriond, with its backdrop of immense cliffs and verdant woodlands. Enjoy a serene swim, an afternoon of water sports or a picnic in the sun here before a gentle hike to the cascading waters of the Brochaux Waterfall. Les Lindarets is also home to fantastic local food producers, so you can pick up some delicious cheese on your way home to Chalet Grand-Duc!
During the ski season, each day brings a new adventure at the Morzine/Avoriaz ski resort, offering easy access to Geneva and a vast array of pistes linked to other resorts throughout the Portes du Soleil ski area. For beginners, there are nursery slopes available at both Lindarets (Montriond) and Morzine Village, while intermediate and advanced skiers alike can enjoy a variety of exciting blue and red runs. The immediate area is also home to roughly 50km of cross-country trails.
After another day of adventure in the fresh air, Morzine offers a myriad of après-ski options for visitors to enjoy, ranging from cosy mountain inns to lively bars located in the heart of the town centre. For something a little different, indoor activities such as spa treatments and wine tastings make for indulgent and memorable evening experiences.
Wholly deserving of its excellent reputation, Montriond and the spectacular Portes du Soleil ski area offer winter sports enthusiasts and nature lovers alike a uniquely beautiful setting in the French Alps, with an abundance of traditional Savoyard charm, whatever the season.

Epitome of tasteful contemporary design
After staying in numerous luxury chalets over the years, Chalet Grand Duc stands out as the epitome of tasteful contemporary design. During our delightful week-long summer stay, we were captivated by its impeccable finishing and stylish furnishings. This brand new chalet exudes coziness, ensuring a wonderful experience throughout our stay. Every aspect, from the well-equipped kitchen to the inviting living area, luxurious bedrooms, elegant bathrooms, efficient laundry, and secure bike storage area, boasts the finest quality materials and appliances, making it a truly luxurious family boutique accommodation. The hosts, Tom & Mel, exceeded our expectations in every way possible. Their attention to detail and thoughtful touches made us feel instantly at home the moment we stepped in. We were eager to explore the charming surroundings of Montriond, Morzine & Les Gets, knowing we had a perfect retreat to return to.

We really enjoyed our stay here in July

Chalet Grand Duc is a veritable gem
Chalet Grand Duc is a veritable gem, set away from the crowds of Morzine but only a 5 minute drive from the main ski lift to Lindarets (much better access than via Avoriaz) and into the Portes du Soleil ski area. The property oozes quality from the moment you set foot inside the chic reception floor. We had a wonderful weekend and Tom was a fantastic host. Our highlight was definitely the hot tub overlooking the valley after skiing. We would love to come back in the Summer for hiking and mountain biking!

Magical week!
We were lucky enough to spend a magical week at Chalet Grand Duc. It’s a fantastic space with plenty of room for three families to enjoy. The open plan living and kitchen area is great for groups who enjoy cooking, eating and having fun together. The outside space is incredible too. The wonderful views across the valley are maximised with lovely decks - the seating area with fire pit and uninterrupted vista (plus the hot tub) were a real highlight! You can see that every little detail in the house has been carefully considered - practical, comfortable and looks amazing. And it’s only a short drive up to the Ardent lift so you can be on the mountain in no time!
