Azure skies will draw you outside to the villa’s spacious terrace each morning, where you can enjoy a refreshing dip in the private swimming pool or sip a cup of freshly brewed coffee as you take in the serene views of your green surroundings. Take off towards the coast or spend the rest of the day relaxing by the pool or in the garden below, which offers plenty of space and a cute play area for younger visitors to enjoy. Later, everyone can gather together for a delicious barbecue on the upper terrace of the villa, which boasts an outdoor dining area with picture-perfect sunset views and a traditional grill.
On the first floor of Villa Toncka, guests will find a bright and airy open-plan living space with a welcoming lounge area featuring a corner sofa and a flatscreen TV, inviting guests to curl up and unwind after a day spent exploring the wonders of Mediterranean Slovenia. The lounge area flows seamlessly into a relaxed dining area, where everyone can come together to discuss the day’s adventures over a glass of excellent local wine. From the villa’s peaceful garden, the Adriatic beaches of both Italy and Slovenia can be reached within forty minutes by car. If the sea beckons, you can spend the day exploring the coastal gems of Koper, Ankaran and Piran, or cross the border to enjoy the relaxed ambience of the Italian seaside, where you can swim on Castelreggio Beach, overlooked by the Duino Cliffs. Located nearby, Predjama Castle is an impressive Rennaissance structure built into the mouth of a cave on a dramatic cliffside. The rolling hills of Istria are filled with olive groves, vineyards, rivers and waterfalls, while Koper offers a variety of well-maintained cycling routes within the town, leading out towards the sea.
For a unique day trip, drive roughly an hour to the thrilling Postojna Cave Park. Boarding the cave’s underground train will mark the beginning of an exciting adventure that the whole family will remember, with hidden passages and plenty of twists and turns. Learn about prehistoric animals at the park’s Vivarium and marvel at the cave’s never-ending stalactites and stalagmites before making your way up to the surface to enter the land of medieval knights at Predjama Castle.
