The villa sits against the bright blue sky, making Casa Cazorla a Mediterranean oasis where guests can truly sit back and relax in style.
Spanish charm continues inside the house, which boasts wooden beams and rustic elements and is filled with natural light. Crisps white walls and tiled flooring run through the property, giving an earthy feel. Treading across the stone floor into the living room, guests will feel like they are truly on holiday as the Spanish breeze runs through the house. The large kitchen is fully-equipped, combining a modern and rustic aesthetic with white tiles, stone counters, and terracotta floors. You'll see that the owners have designed the interior of the house around natural features and decor in keeping with traditional Spanish architecture, making it a beautiful space to relax and prepare delicious dishes from local ingredients. A pleasant indoor dining area seats ten, or maybe more if you eat Mediterranean style and sit close!
Casa Cazorla comfortably sleeps up to eighteen guests, offering a range of queen-size beds and bunk beds, and four of the rooms have their own private balcony. The rooms have been tastefully decorated to reflect the elements of the surrounding nature, utilising natural fabrics and furnishings.
The outdoor area is always a hit with guests, and the pool is undoubtedly a highlight of the property. Sun worshippers will be in their element by the pool, and it's easy to see why guests spend hours here topping up their tans. Location
About the surrounding area of Casa CazorlaCazorla is a dream mountain getaway. This charming town brims with traditional local architecture, steep streets, charming grand houses, and historical monuments. The beautiful surrounding landscape of olive trees makes it one of the leading producers of olive oil in the region, and the fruit appears in many of its spectacular dishes, which visitors love to devour.
Yedra Castle is the focal point of the town centre, and it's also home to the Upper Guadalquivir Popular Arts and Traditions Museum. True to its historical significance, The town hall is located in a Renaissance-style building called 'Padres Mercedarios', a convent dating from the 1500s and is one of many buildings that makes up the historic aesthetic of the town. Another former convent, San Juan de la Penitenciaria, is now a youth hostel and boasts the same architectural style. The town boasts a number of public and historic spaces such as Las Cadenas and La Vicaria palaces, Plaza de Santa Maria and the churches of San Jose, San Francisco and El Carmen, which visitors should make a priority to visit.
If you happen to visit Cazorla in July, you must check out the Blues Cazorla festival that is held in the town every year. This three-day festival is packed full of Blues musicians and can't be missed if you're near the area. The town is packed with visitors and music lovers, enjoying the various stages and acts, of which over 60% are free to enter!
Another reason visitors from all over the world are drawn here is its location in the Sierras de Cazorla, Segura y Las Villas Nature Reserve, a UNESCO biosphere reserve. Visitors can explore the park using several routes, the most popular of which are on foot, on bicycle or in 4x4 vehicles.
Just over an hour's drive away is Jaen, a place of cultural and historical importance for Spain. Its natural landscapes house significant architecture and monuments in its villages and cities and keep its rich history alive. There are several suggested itineraries for exploring, and a popular one is the Renaissance Route which covers the towns of Úbeda and Baeza in the La Loma area. Because of their important Renaissance legacy, both cities have been declared historical and artistic sites. An Arab fortress that stands atop the Santa Catalina ridge dominates the oldest part of Jaen and gives some of the best views of the city and the Guadalquivir valley. There's also Santa Catalina castle which is home to an interesting Visitor Centre with information about its history.

Owner Profile
How long have you owned the property?
I purchased the property in February 2021.
What was it about the property that you first fell in love with?
The property is in my father's hometown and I first visited it in 1988. I fell in love right away with the house, gardens and flowing water throughout the property. It's in a place that is very cool in summer yet warm in winter since most trees on the property are deciduous and there is direct sunlight for most of the day on the property.
Do you have a favourite room in the property?
The main living room. In the summer you can open the two large windows to have a cool breeze and here the sounds of the water and in the winter with the fireplace we love to sit just looking out those two windows. The couch makes it very inviting (seating 10 adults comfortably) for conversation and great family time. I refused to have a TV there for this same reason.
For anyone coming to stay is there anything in the surrounding area they should...
Really do?
Hiking around the property is unbelievable. One of the highest rated trails leaves from directly underneath the house. It's the 'Sendero del Río Cerezuelo', a terrific hike that can be expanded from a short 40-minute walk along the banks of the Cerezuelo River to a 6-hour trek with a ascent of 800 meters for those who are interested in a more intense experience. The short hike is suitable for people of all ages, including children. There are various options which you can explore from this hike including the waterfall 'Cueva de la Malena', the castles 'Castillo De las Cinco Esquinas' (14th century) and 'Castillo de la Yedra' (12th century) and the Monastery 'Montesión' (16th century). All of these sites are located in the beautiful backdrop of the Sierra de Cazorla Natural Park.
Really eat?
Tapas in Cazorla are a real treat. There are many great places for tapas throughout the town, many located in the old square located a short 5-minute walk from the house. Meson Leandro, the best restaurant in Cazorla, is located just 250 meters away. There is also a great bakery right in front of the restaurant which has a lot of local favorites aside from amazing bread.
Really see?
The 'Boveda del Rio Cerrezuelo' and tour of the old section of Cazorla is worth a visit. Very unique square built over a 16th century arched vault that was done in order to build the Santa Maria church which today is the Ruins of Santa Maria.
What insider tip would you pass on about the property or the area?
Unless staying for a long time, I always recommend to travellers to not use their cars while they are staying at Casa Cazorla. Everything is walking distance and it is nice, and incredibly relaxing, to be able to walk around and live as the locals do. We can help with shopping in advance for groceries and there are stores nearby to pick up anything you may need. Hikes in the morning are highly recommended and enjoying the gardens of the house and sound of running water has a magical therapeutic effect on all visitors.

We will remember this magical place forever
We could not have been happier with this home rental, the idyllic town, and the communication with everyone involved in helping us. Our family loves to hike and this area is full of beautiful hikes with elevation gain galore as well as outdoor water activities, such as canyoning. We had a bit of a language barrier with one company we wanted to book with, and the owner of the home booked it for us. They also left us fresh food for our late night arrival, and were just incredibly lovely humans. The home and pool are an oasis of happiness and I'm so grateful we were able to come here as a family. We will remember this magical place forever. Thank you Chris, Javi and Bea.

Perfect place for family and nature
The house is huge and great. Ideal for large groups or family gathering as was our case. We were comfortable and had everything we needed. I have to make special mention of Javier, the professional who helped us with the transportation and installation in the house. He made everything easier for us and is a very nice and efficient person.

Too Good!
House was immaculate and the location could not be beat. A number of beautiful hikes right from the front doorstep and great tapas bars and restaurants all in short walking distance. We did not use our car for the whole week. A real vacation!!
-
Great for Large Families.
The garden is very nioce, huge and well-kept with a pool and chiringuito next door. A small orchard, trees and flowers. Being an old mill it retains some of the structures and gives it a lot of charm. The house is very large, with several common spaces and each bedroom has its own bathroom. The setting, next to the river and overlooking the Cazorla castle is beautiful. Although access to the house can be difficult for disabled, the owner very kindly helped bring our grandmother up with a special vehicle.
