Location
About the surrounding area of Villa AlmogiaPoised among the peace and tranquillity of the breathtaking Andalusian hillsides, Villa Almogia offers a retreat away from the busier tourist areas of Spain. This quiet villa lies in the heart of Almogia, a small and typically Spanish town on the outskirts of Malaga which is just a 45-minute drive away! Almogia plays host to delicious Spanish restaurants, supermarkets, panaderias, pastelerías, and pescaderias, as well as various other family-owned shops, so you can find everything you might need nearby. There are also two additional excellent Spanish restaurants in the next village, Pastelero.
Andalusia is a region of Southern Spain that offers visitors extremely varied nature, with everything from golden beaches to mountain ranges with their highly interesting fauna, as well as the famous "white villages" and their rich culture. These villages are known for their white-washed homes and small cobbled streets. A spot like this always feels like the best of both worlds, guests can enjoy all the serenity and nature around the property, yet the vibrant, faster-paced streets of Malaga are just 25km away!
Malaga itself offers an enticing blend of culture and sea, with a lively atmosphere that bustles through the numerous tapas bars and restaurants. If the 16 sunny beaches weren't enough to keep you busy, this Andalusian city has a fascinating cultural side. As the birthplace of Pablo Picasso, there is a history of art and design, with beautiful museums and monuments for all tastes. On the shores of the Mediterranean, there is plenty to fall in love with within this awe-inspiring city, making it well worth a few trips during your stay.
The Costa del Sol coastline stretches along the Mediterranean, with endless beaches, towns, and attractions for visitors to delve into. For beach lovers, the list is endless, with Cabopino and Nikki beaches being amongst the most beautiful and popular in the area. The area draws tourists in with its warm climate and average year-round water temperature of 18°C, yet once people arrive, it does not take long to realise quite how much the Costa del Sol has to offer!

Best Suited For: All AgesVilla Almogia offers a retreat away from your busy day-to-day lives, offering families what is most important, quality time together. Set away from some of the busier tourist areas on the Costa del Sol, families can sit back and relax, eat together, play together and create holiday memories that are sure to last a lifetime!
The villa itself is brilliant for families with children. There is so much space, both inside and out, for little ones to run around and play in. With the private swimming pool, rooftop terrace and outdoor cooking and dining spaces, we imagine you will all spend most of your time in the Spanish sun, hopping in and out of the water to cool off as and when you need. Inside, a large, modern kitchen makes catering for the whole family nice and simple, though we always suggest barbecues outside for fun family meals, getting the kids involved with the food preparation, so you can all learn together how best to use the local produce on offer. The villa's private yurt is sure to entice kids, too, with yoga mats, so they can move and stretch or even take over this relaxing space as their own private playroom!
The nearby area offers endless exciting attractions and activities. For outdoor lovers, there is plenty of hiking and cycling to get involved in, bringing joy to kids and adults alike. For beaches, there are endless options, though Playa de la Malagueta is a great place to start in Malaga. This long, sandy city beach is backed with seafood shacks for food, as well as a playground and rental loungers and umbrellas. There is also a Water Fun obstacle course in the sea, perfect for the most adventurous among you!

Owner Profile
How long have you owned the property?
We purchased the property in 2018 after a long search of many areas. We knew what we were looking for, and finally, we found it - the perfect villa in a perfect location.
What was it about the property that you first fell in love with?
The stunning views from Malaga to Almogia equal the spectacular views from Almogia to Antequera, passing El Torcal on the way. The villa has the ideal setting: a 7-acre plot with a winding walking path down to the valley floor, so don’t forget your walking shoes! It is such a peaceful, tranquil location and just 4km from the white village of Almogia with many locally run shops and restaurants together with a well-stocked mini supermarket. The modern, spacious flowing interior of the villa just delights.
Do you have a favourite room in the property?
That is a difficult question to answer as we enjoy all rooms. As we enjoy cooking, the kitchen is a favourite because it is large, fully equipped with a centre island and sit-up bar. But there again, the dining room and living room are maybe favourites with their large windows to the front garden. Or maybe the bedrooms for those perfect sleep nights. Sorry, we can’t pick an overall winner!
For anyone coming to stay, is there anything in the surrounding area they should...
Really do?
Relax and integrate with peace and tranquillity. Stroll amongst the olive trees. Hug a big tree trunk early in the morning and take in the fresh air. Venture out on foot either way from the villa and enjoy more mountainside stunning views. There is also a pilgrims walking path that takes you across the mountainside to the village centre in about 45 minutes.
Really eat?
Enjoy the local in-season fruits and vegetables: oranges, lemons, limes, figs, grapes, avocados, melon, watermelon, tomatoes, and olives and if you are lucky enough to be here at the right time, help yourself to the fruits in the gardens.
Really see?
The white villages of Almogia, Casabermeja, and Antequera, for example. They are very charming and typically Spanish!
What insider tips would you pass on about the property or the area?
Enjoy an evening meal at Almogia Bar El Coco, a specialist for steaks, or Posada de Almogia for a good selection of lunches, or a 15-minute car journey to the village of Pastelero for excellent fish meals at Venta Paco. Opening times are subject to season. And don’t forget the villa rooftop terrace to grab that last hour of evening sunshine!

Absolutely stunning.
A beautifully presented villa with large comfortable rooms, a superb kitchen and quality furnishings.

We had a wonderful stay.
We had a wonderful stay. The location was perfect, stunning views across the hills and so private. Car hire is required and there is so much to explore around you from the beaches, cities and towns, mountain walks and inland lakes. The villa itself is perfect for a family stay, we were a young family of 4 and the set up was brilliant. It was clean and had everything you needed for a comfortable stay. Little touches like the drinking water tap, poolside shower and the hidden barbecue terrace with the hammocks meant we could relax and enjoy our stay here. Julie and Alan were so welcoming and even introduced us to their horses which the children loved. We would highly recommend this villa for anyone who either wants a very peaceful, relaxing break or wants to explore this part of Spain and all the wonders it has to offer. The villa provides a welcome return after a day exploring.

Peaceful haven yet so close to the sights
Everything about Villa Amogia was wonderful. The hosts were always on top of, and crystal clear about, all communication which helped throughout our stay. Upon arrival, the house and grounds were in immaculate condition and all amenities were as advertised. The guidebook inside the villa itself has a wonderful set of local highlights along with extremely detailed information about all the amenities of the villa—no question was left uncovered which again speaks to the professionalism and preparedness of the hosts. Throughout the stay, we appreciated very much how the hosts stayed in contact to help us have just the best holiday. 5* in every respect, a wonderful place to spend time away from it all yet so close to the city, villages both east and west, and incredible sights slightly further along.
-
Magnificent property
Great owner communication to arrive easily to the villa. The information and photos are a perfect representation of this magnificent property.

It’s been absolutely wonderful
It’s been absolutely wonderful. A pearl the house is, and so are the hill sides and...perfect.

All you could ask for
Remote but very close to a traditional unspoiled Spanish village, with friendly locals. The house felt homely and had all you could ask for. The sun surrounds the property so you can relax outside until late and if you like nature and views it’s ideal. It’s best for couples and families that appreciate the stuff mentioned above.
-
Peaceful and secluded
The views of the hills surrounding the Villa were amazing and there were so many locations to enjoy the views from. We sometimes had difficulty deciding where to sit. I think most of all we enjoyed the pool and the terrace with its hammocks, they were so relaxing. The location was very peaceful and secluded and the Villa was perfectly equipped with everything we needed to have a great holiday. Could have done with a longer holiday.

Great holiday
Thank you, we had a great holiday.
-
Fantastic
Fantastic.
-
Beautifully Maintained!
Very nice, well maintained villa and pool. Very tranquil position, also very isolated but we knew that when we booked. We loved the shaded seating area & hammocks under the pool.
The pool area is lovely but could do with a permanent shade solution as the umbrella is too flimsy to withstand the breezes.
We were extremely paranoid about the kitchen’s glass door (exterior). It really needs a doorstop or something to prevent the door handle hitting (and breaking) the glass panel when fully open.
Neither of those observations were detrimental to our enjoyment though.
-
