About the surrounding area of Villa Chic CalpeVilla Chic Calpe is located near the seaside town of Calpe on Spain's Costa Blanca. With its beautiful sandy beaches, golf courses and hiking and climbing trails, it's a great destination for outdoor enthusiasts. The town is dominated by the rock of Calpe (Peñon de Ifach), which rises up from the sea and dominates the skyline. Those with a head for heights can scale the 332m-high summit and spot birds, mammals and reptiles along the way. It's a strenuous walk, but at the top, you'll be rewarded with spectacular sea views, and on a clear day, you'll be able to see the island of Ibiza. Alternatively, head to the marina, where you can take a boat ride around the rock or sail to the nearby town of Benidorm.
For a day out at the beach, head to La Fossa located beneath the rock. It's a popular beach, with clean, calm waters and fine sand and is backed by a promenade dotted with restaurants, bars and shops. El Raco cove, located at the foot of Ifach, is the ultimate spot for divers and offers an underwater diving trail, while nearby Cala Les Bassetes is an ideal beach for kayaking, sailing, and windsurfing. Lovers of golf can also enjoy a round at the nine-hole Ifach golf course, less than a 15-minute drive from the villa.
Alternatively, jump on the 5.5 km 'Paseo Ecologico' eco trail and stroll from Calpe to Benissa. It's a beautiful coastline walk dotted with quiet beaches and secret coves. Along the way be sure to stop at one of the many bars and enjoy a drink before taking a dip in the crystal-clear waters. Alternatively, head inland and discover the old town brimming with beautiful architecture and bordered by 15th-century walls. Originally a fishing village, Calpe's old town is a pretty place to spend an afternoon with cobbled streets, colourful steps, wall mosaics and murals, and Roman ruins. Be sure to also visit the vibrant market on a Sunday and pick up some fresh vegetables, baked treats and local sweets.

Kids
Best Suited For: All AgesVilla Chic Calpe is best suited to families who enjoy the outdoors. Situated in a quiet residential area, kids can spend the day splashing in the swimming pool and relaxing on one of the terraces. After a day of activity, the open-plan living area is a breezy place to chill out with comfortable sofas, a TV and Wifi. The seaside resort of Calpe is just a 5-minute drive away and offers a choice of beautiful beaches and coves, including Playa Cantal Roig. It's a family-friendly beach located next to the fishing port, and here children of all ages can swim safely in the Mediterranean waters and build sandcastles on the shore. Older children can also try their hand at paddle boarding. Afterwards, enjoy ice cream and refreshments at one of the many beachside restaurants or stroll to the fishing port and watch the day's catch get auctioned off at the market.
Alternatively, pack your snorkel and head to Raco cove. Here children can explore the seabed and enjoy spotting colourful fish and crabs. Hiking up the 330-metre-high Ifach Rock is not recommended for children, but the whole family can walk around the base of the rock on the paved path.
While Calpe is known for its beaches and the rock, its old town is also worth a visit. Kids will love the colourful Spanish steps in the historic centre and the 15th-century walls and watch towers. Further afield, more fun can be had in Benidorm. A 40-minute drive from the villa, kids will love Aqualandia, where they can spend the day whizzing down water slides, riding rapids and splashing in one of the pools. They can also visit Terra Natura Zoo with its tigers, elephants and rhinos.
