Overview
Casa Riba Uno offers a stylish and modern villa settled amongst the vineyards. Just imagine it, the vines growing around the terrace whilst you sit in the sun with a chilled glass of wine produced from the very grapes within your gaze. The villa is located in a quiet area, just a ten-minute drive from the beautiful town and white sandy beaches of Cambados. Galicia is less visited by tourists, found off the main tourist trail of Spain, yet it boasts so many splendours and delights, both manmade and natural.
The villa itself is the kind of place where you can open the front door and instantaneously relax. White walls, plenty of glass and contemporary furnishings all contribute to the sublime interiors. Natural light floods the space with a simple layout that allows you to settle in and make it your own throughout the whole duration of your stay. There are two bedrooms, the first offering a comfortable double bed and the second furnished with two twins. There is a modern bathroom that could easily fit into any style magazine.
In the main living space, an intimate, modern kitchen, social dining table and cosy sofas all sit open plan, with plenty of room to spend time together. There is a smart TV, as well as all the comforts you could need. With the doors wide open, this bright and airy room becomes at one with the outdoor living spaces, so you can meander in and out of the sunshine to your heart's content.
On the terrace, the private swimming pool takes pride of place, bordered by a low-maintenance lawn and an array of sun loungers. Barbecues and long evening outdoors would not go amiss, although, with a selection of eateries within walking distance, we suggest you take an evening or two off as well!
Off the beaten path of the usual tourist routes, Casa Riba Uno offers some welcome respite, yet with the wonders of Santiago and the beautiful beaches of Galicia all so nearby, this is sure to be an unforgettable holiday leaving you only wanting more.

Guests will appreciate the proximity of supermarkets and shops, all within distance, as well as an array of local cafes, restaurants, and bars. Santiago de Compostela is a forty-five-minute drive away, with its rich architecture and vibrant lifestyle, perfect for a day trip. What's more, next door is the equally brilliant Casa Riba Dos! Located in the 'Ría de Arousa', the seafaring town of Cambados is known for its rich architectural wealth, including the 'Plaza de Fefiñáns', the ruins of Santa Mariña Dozo, San Sadurniño's tower, and Pastora's viewpoint, all of which are well worth a visit. The town's covered market offers two markets a week, where you can find all the fresh and local produce you could need, choosing ingredients that enhance the flavours of your stay.
Awarded the status of a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, the intrigues and delights of Santiago de Compostela can be reached within a forty-five-minute drive of Casa Riba Uno. Days in the city seem to pass in mere moments, so we would not be surprised if you choose to spend more than one day wandering the cobbled streets of the historic centre. The famous cathedral, Saint Sign of Santiago, is a great place to start, surrounded by architecture that dates to medieval times. The blend of history, nature, leisure, and gastronomy all combine to create the rich and vibrant atmosphere this city is known for.
When you are done exploring the history and architecture, we are sure some food and wine will not go amiss! The food markets of Santiago display all the region's best choices, with around 300 stalls displayed beautifully with all the colourful produce you could imagine. Intimate wine bars are tucked into the surrounding streets, perfect for a glass or two with your loved ones.

About the Region & Getting There
About Galicia
Like many parts of Spain, Galicia has its very own identity that has remained intact through its regional dialect and distinguishing culture. Although Galicia is recognised for its holy traditions, we urge budding tourists to also consider its astonishing green countryside & rivers and its UNESCO World Heritage sites. Occasionally you may even hear the gentle tootling of bagpipes, known locally as the Galician Gaita, along this northern corner of the Iberian Peninsula.
You're likely to fly into Santiago de Compostela, which is the capital of Galicia and is probably best known for the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage and its route. Many of the travellers embark on this journey by foot and tend to be mesmerised by this fine city at the end of their trek. Casco Viejo, or the Old Town, is a good place to end or even start your holiday. This area of the city is blessed with markets, restaurants, bars and buildings from a bygone era. After exhausting yourself in the busyness of the city, take a day trip to Praia de Rodas, on the gorgeous Cíes Islands. These small islands, accessible by boat from Vigo, Baiona, or Cangas, have been noted as having some of the best beaches in the world. It has to be seen to be believed!
Galicia is divided into four key regions: A Coruña, Lugo, Ourense and our favourite – Pontevedra. A Galician proverb states that 'Pontevedra gives water to travellers'. We firmly believe this to be true, as this particular part of Galicia has everything a traveller could need for an unforgettable experience and it almost feels like this city is constantly giving back. Whilst you holiday in Pontevedra you will realise that days are structured around mealtime. And why wouldn't they be? With some of the best seafood you will experience in Spain and the noteworthy Albariño wine, you may notice your jeans feeling a little tighter toward the end of your holiday. You will be glad to know that your waistline need not be a cause for concern though! Pontevedra is blessed with some of the best hiking trails, medieval monasteries, estuaries, and valleys within Spain. Don't forget about the coastline either! Rarely you will you find so many empty beaches, so make the most of this privacy and just embrace the nature around you.
Galicia is still an unspoilt part of the world. It has everything a diverse group of friends & family need to have a glorious adventure.
Getting There
Galicia is served by either Santiago de Compostela Airport, A Coruña Airport, or Vigo Airport. Various train lines connect the main cities and towns of Galicia to other destinations in Northern and Central Spain (and even Portugal). There are also vairous coach routes that you can take throughout the region and to other cities in Spain.
From the UK:
Direct flights are available from London with easyJet, Ryanair, Vueling, and many others. Although, travellers should be aware that Vigo Airport only receives domestic flights, so a stopover is needed if you wish to travel to this airport. Chartered flights are also available from several other UK airports.
Kids
Best Suited For: All AgesThis modern villa is the perfect set-up for family retreats, with one double bedroom and one twin room, making it well suited to adults and children alike. Between the terrace and swimming pool, there is a fence, so even the smallest children can remain safe, yet when they are supervised, the private pool provides endless amounts of splashy fun! There are local shops, restaurants, and supermarkets all within walking distance, so you will not have to load little ones in and out of the car every time you choose to go out. A cot and highchair can easily be provided along with the villa.
In the moments when you can drag them away from the poolside, kids will be thrilled by the water sports and snorkelling at the beaches by Cambados. Sandcastle building competitions are the perfect way to pass the time, with an ice cream every now and again being essential! As a family, you can take boat trips to the magical Islas Cies from Vigo, heading out across the water to explore the hidden bays and white sandy beaches that exist beyond the shores of Cambados.
The medieval architecture and rich history of Santiago are fantastic to explore as a family, yet for everyone, hours spent ambling the cobbled streets can be tiring, so taking refuge in some of the beautiful city parks is the perfect stopping point. Another favourite park among families is the Mirador Parque da Alameda. Filled with large shady trees, this beautiful park is located next to the old part of town. There are swans for kids to feed, playgrounds for them to revel in and public exercise equipment for all ages to enjoy. There are several playgrounds which have in fact been designed by famous architects themselves, and kids will love them.
Perhaps the favourite spot in the city for our younger guests is the Santiago Zoo. Lions, tigers, snakes, and all kinds of animals are available to view, providing entertainment for all ages. There is a funicular from the zoo to the top of Cerro San Cristobal. The funicular poses the perfect viewpoint to take in the city and provides plenty of fun for kids, a sight worth seeing during your stay.

An excellent stay
We had an excellent stay at Casa Riba Uno. The apartment was clean, good space and beds were comfortable. The owner was very helpful and quick to respond to our requests. The house is in the middle of the many Albariño wineyards near Cambados. Kids loved the pool and beaches. We grilled locally bought fish on the BBQ in the evenings accompanied with excellent Albariño wine. A place to stay to enjoy what Galicia can offer.
