Majestic in size, this nine-bedroom palace overlooks the Rio Tambre in beautiful Galicia, northern Spain. A nineteenth-century manor house, it offers a sense of grandeur and period charm and is a fantastic space for a family reunion or special celebration. On the ground floor, guests will find a sweeping corridor adorned with elegant chandeliers and antique paintings, which leads to the large living room, where you'll find comfortable sofas, high ceilings and heavy drapes. Oak-panelled walls, mahogany furniture, floor-to-ceiling windows and an open fireplace add to the splendour, and it's the perfect space to sit, relax and socialise in. From here, step into the elegant dining room and enjoy a meal at the table seating 18 people, or for more casual dining, head to the light and breezy kitchen and enjoy a casual bite-to-eat at the neat table.

The interiors feature nine bedrooms, and you can choose between suites or a double bedroom. The bedrooms are opulent with their own unique design, and all of them include en-suite bathrooms and pretty garden views. Guests are also able to add another three guests to their party, with three extra fold-out beds available on request. From the ground floor, a staircase leads to the second floor, where you'll find plenty of entertainment. Here you can rack up the balls on the billiard table or enjoy a game of rummy at the card table.

Outside, the garden's endless beauty is a delight with its statues, fountains and manicured lawn. Enjoy a morning coffee on the veranda and absorb the tranquil surroundings with its endless mature trees, ancient wood and pretty lakes. With so much space to explore, you won't know where to put yourself first. During the day, plunge into the swimming pool, enjoy a stroll down to the private jetty or simply sit and watch the wildlife come and go from the ponds. The barbeque area is also an idyllic spot should you fancy eating al fresco. A tonic for the senses, the manor house resides on the grounds of a Finca, where events and weddings take place. However, the manor house is soundproofed and offers complete privacy and tranquillity. If you can tear yourself away from all this bliss, you'll find the beaches in the Noia-Muros bay just a 15-minute drive away, while the historic city of Santiago de Compostela is 30 minutes from the property.

Palacio Gallego is located on extensive grounds overlooking the Rio Tambre and a 30-minute drive from Santiago de Compostela. The surrounding area is perfect for those who want to immerse themselves in nature, and you can easily spend a day exploring the surrounding garden with its beautiful fountains, lakes and ponds. Alternatively, walk or ride through the forest or head to the private jetty and explore the area by kayak. A Finca is set within the grounds, and here you'll find a restaurant, wedding and event space.

For a day at the beach, it's a 10-minute drive to the coastal town of Noia. Noia is located at the mouth of the Ria de Muros y Noya, and there are many quiet, sandy beaches in this area. A good place for a swim, the beaches in this area are protected from the wind and the cooler temperatures of the Atlantic Ocean. Nearest to the property is Praia de Boa Grande, and here children can spend the day here splashing in the water and playing in the sand. After a day on the beach, shake the sand from your feet and enjoy a snack at one of the beachfront restaurants. Afterwards, head into the town of Noia and stroll through its winding streets. Admire the gothic buildings, browse the markets and shops, and then enjoy a coffee in the pretty medieval square that overlooks an impressive church. When the sun starts to dip, be sure to head to the long boardwalk and enjoy sunset views of the bay.

For a full day of history and culture, make the 30-minute drive inland to the beautiful Santiago de Compostela. This medieval city is packed with Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque, and Neoclassicist buildings and is home to the shrine of St James the Apostle. Spend the morning walking around the old town with its maze of narrow streets and plazas, then explore the stunning Catedral del Apostol. Considered a masterpiece of Romanesque architecture, it also features the remarkable Portico de la Gloria. Also worth a visit is the Catedral Museum, where you can view historical artefacts, then head to the Praza do Obradoiro and enjoy a drink and meal in this lively little square.

About the Region & Getting There

About Galicia

Like many parts of Spain, Galicia has its very own identity that has remained intact through its regional dialect and distinguishing culture. Although Galicia is recognised for its holy traditions, we urge budding tourists to also consider its astonishing green countryside & rivers and its UNESCO World Heritage sites. Occasionally you may even hear the gentle tootling of bagpipes, known locally as the Galician Gaita, along this northern corner of the Iberian Peninsula.

You're likely to fly into Santiago de Compostela, which is the capital of Galicia and is probably best known for the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage and its route. Many of the travellers embark on this journey by foot and tend to be mesmerised by this fine city at the end of their trek. Casco Viejo, or the Old Town, is a good place to end or even start your holiday. This area of the city is blessed with markets, restaurants, bars and buildings from a bygone era. After exhausting yourself in the busyness of the city, take a day trip to Praia de Rodas, on the gorgeous Cíes Islands. These small islands, accessible by boat from Vigo, Baiona, or Cangas, have been noted as having some of the best beaches in the world. It has to be seen to be believed!

Galicia is divided into four key regions: A Coruña, Lugo, Ourense and our favourite – Pontevedra. A Galician proverb states that 'Pontevedra gives water to travellers'. We firmly believe this to be true, as this particular part of Galicia has everything a traveller could need for an unforgettable experience and it almost feels like this city is constantly giving back. Whilst you holiday in Pontevedra you will realise that days are structured around mealtime. And why wouldn't they be? With some of the best seafood you will experience in Spain and the noteworthy Albariño wine, you may notice your jeans feeling a little tighter toward the end of your holiday. You will be glad to know that your waistline need not be a cause for concern though! Pontevedra is blessed with some of the best hiking trails, medieval monasteries, estuaries, and valleys within Spain. Don't forget about the coastline either! Rarely you will you find so many empty beaches, so make the most of this privacy and just embrace the nature around you.

Galicia is still an unspoilt part of the world. It has everything a diverse group of friends & family need to have a glorious adventure.

Getting There

Galicia is served by either Santiago de Compostela Airport, A Coruña Airport, or Vigo Airport. Various train lines connect the main cities and towns of Galicia to other destinations in Northern and Central Spain (and even Portugal). There are also vairous coach routes that you can take throughout the region and to other cities in Spain.

From the UK:
Direct flights are available from London with easyJet, Ryanair, Vueling, and many others. Although, travellers should be aware that Vigo Airport only receives domestic flights, so a stopover is needed if you wish to travel to this airport. Chartered flights are also available from several other UK airports.

Kids

Best Suited For: All Ages
Ideal for Kids Ideal for Teens

Children will delight in the boundless expanse of Palacio Gallego, where they can revel in countless hours of fun. The games room offers the joy of billiards, while the opulent living areas beg exploration. Outdoors, the pool beckons for splashing, and family strolls through the garden and forest await. A maze provides the perfect venue for spirited games of hide and seek, while the terrace invites alfresco dining with fresh fish sizzling on the barbeque. For a culinary adventure, a short walk leads to a nearby restaurant offering local delicacies like octopus seasoned with olive oil and paprika, and almond cake.

Venture just 15 minutes away to Noia for a day at the beach, where sandy shores along the Noia-Muros bay invite leisurely swims and snorkeling in pristine waters. Older kids can pursue surfing or sailing along the Porto do Son coastline, a scenic 25-minute drive from the villa. Nearby attractions like Castro de Barona offer glimpses into ancient Celtic life, while bustling Noia town and vibrant Santiago de Compostela promise cultural richness and memorable experiences. Santiago's evenings are alive with theatre, dance, and architectural wonders, including the whimsical sculpture of As Marias, immortalizing two colorful park regulars.
