Location
About the surrounding area of Villa CambadosVilla Cambados is located north west of Pontevedra in the heart of the Riax Baixes south coast countryside. It is just a 15-minute drive to the beach, the buzzy town of Cambados and the very popular town of Pontevedra and only slightly further to the coastal delight of Sanxenxo.
One of the closest beaches is Playa de la Lanzada, one of Galicia's best. With over 3km of glistening white sand backed by stunning dunes, it is a total wonder. The water is very blue and clear and the sunsets are to die for! Close by, Playa Area das Pipas enjoys delightful rocks and tide pools. It is lined with fragrant pine trees and is very picturesque.
Pontevedra is a beautiful, well-preserved old town. Brimming with beautiful buildings, interlocking narrow lanes and picturesque plazas, it combines history, culture and style. It is a great place to shop, dine and sightsee. The town's Gothic Santa Maria la Mayor Basilica is amazing.
Cambados, the capital of the albarino wine country, is actually a fusion of three medieval villages, Fefinans at the north end of town, Cambados proper in the middle and the fishing quarter of Santo Tome in the south. It is full of ancient streets lined with beautiful stone architecture and sprinkled with inviting taverns and restaurants.
Sanxenxo is often called the ‘Marbella of Galicia’ and boasts a busy leisure port, a long attractive waterfront and lots of tourist amenities and restaurants. You will mostly find Spanish holidaymakers in Sanxenxo.
A popular place to visit is Ermita de San Sebastian on the Isla de la Toja. It is a dreamy place with millions of scallop shells adorning its beautiful little church. You may also want to look at the famous Camino de Santiago pilgrimage trail and Santiago de Compostela. This interesting city enjoys magnificent stone architecture and a famous cathedral. The skirl of bagpipes might make you think you are in Scotland. The town's charming restaurants and bars specialise in fine delicious Galician seafood and local wines.

About the Region & Getting There
About Galicia
Like many parts of Spain, Galicia has its very own identity that has remained intact through its regional dialect and distinguishing culture. Although Galicia is recognised for its holy traditions, we urge budding tourists to also consider its astonishing green countryside & rivers and its UNESCO World Heritage sites. Occasionally you may even hear the gentle tootling of bagpipes, known locally as the Galician Gaita, along this northern corner of the Iberian Peninsula.
You're likely to fly into Santiago de Compostela, which is the capital of Galicia and is probably best known for the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage and its route. Many of the travellers embark on this journey by foot and tend to be mesmerised by this fine city at the end of their trek. Casco Viejo, or the Old Town, is a good place to end or even start your holiday. This area of the city is blessed with markets, restaurants, bars and buildings from a bygone era. After exhausting yourself in the busyness of the city, take a day trip to Praia de Rodas, on the gorgeous Cíes Islands. These small islands, accessible by boat from Vigo, Baiona, or Cangas, have been noted as having some of the best beaches in the world. It has to be seen to be believed!
Galicia is divided into four key regions: A Coruña, Lugo, Ourense and our favourite – Pontevedra. A Galician proverb states that 'Pontevedra gives water to travellers'. We firmly believe this to be true, as this particular part of Galicia has everything a traveller could need for an unforgettable experience and it almost feels like this city is constantly giving back. Whilst you holiday in Pontevedra you will realise that days are structured around mealtime. And why wouldn't they be? With some of the best seafood you will experience in Spain and the noteworthy Albariño wine, you may notice your jeans feeling a little tighter toward the end of your holiday. You will be glad to know that your waistline need not be a cause for concern though! Pontevedra is blessed with some of the best hiking trails, medieval monasteries, estuaries, and valleys within Spain. Don't forget about the coastline either! Rarely you will you find so many empty beaches, so make the most of this privacy and just embrace the nature around you.
Galicia is still an unspoilt part of the world. It has everything a diverse group of friends & family need to have a glorious adventure.
Getting There
Galicia is served by either Santiago de Compostela Airport, A Coruña Airport, or Vigo Airport. Various train lines connect the main cities and towns of Galicia to other destinations in Northern and Central Spain (and even Portugal). There are also vairous coach routes that you can take throughout the region and to other cities in Spain.
From the UK:
Direct flights are available from London with easyJet, Ryanair, Vueling, and many others. Although, travellers should be aware that Vigo Airport only receives domestic flights, so a stopover is needed if you wish to travel to this airport. Chartered flights are also available from several other UK airports.
Kids
Best Suited For: All AgesVilla Cambados is perfect for a family holiday. There is room for multi-generational families or several families wanting to enjoy their holiday with friends. There is so much space inside and out and the countryside setting is perfect as you are so secluded.
Playa de la Lanzada is a fantastic, family-friendly beach with wide expanses of white sand, entertaining waves, surfing clubs and other water sports. You might want to research and book a surfing or kite surfing course. It is a perfect place to learn.
Aldea de Os Grobits on the Isla de la Toja is great fun for children with its little hobbit houses. You can walk to the Isla de la Toja. There is a small, well run aquarium at O Grove which gives children a good idea of the sea life that you can find in Galicia. Further away is the Illa de Arousa and the Carreiron Natural Park. It is listed as a special protection zone for heron bird populations and other birds. The island boasts some impressive beaches.
Children will enjoy fun days in Pontevedra, exploring the old town and eating a lot of tapas! The history is interesting and there is so much to do and see.
The Rias Baixas is a lovely location for a family holiday. The natural environment is very refreshing and beautiful, as are the beaches. There is a lot of varied entertainment to be found.
If you visit the famous Santiago de Compostela, you will find the streets and squares full of children, parents and grandparents. It is very welcoming and offers excellent entertainment with plenty of spontaneous musical jams and a lot of theatre and dance.

Incredible Stay and Service!
From start to finish the whole holiday experience was great. Booking was easy, communication from the office was always very quick and helpful ( thank you Patricia) … Extra activities were organised by the team too, from an exclusive boat trip tothe Cies Islands to organising Covid tests for those that needed them, all executed by the office with minimum fuss and minimum time! House was exactly as shown on the website - beautiful and fully kitted out for all our needs . Perfect position for exploring a different area each day as close to motorway ( but not noisy at all) Owner too was always available for help with restaurant recommendations and places to visit.. also helped with a small crisis when one of the children fell and broke their collar bone and needed hospital treatment. All in all it was a fantastic week and we all hope to return to this beautiful villa very soon ??

100% Recommend
Wonderful house that does not lack a single detail to be comfortable and enjoy a few days of rest. And all this accompanied by wonderful hosts who make the stay very pleasant. Despite having a health problem and having to cancel one of the rooms the day before arrival, they made no effort to refund said room.
Don't miss out! Reserve now and get a full refund if you change your mind within 48hrs.
