The dining area within this property follows a more rustic theme, including a large wooden table and matching chairs. This is a perfect space for communal dining experiences and for enjoying each other’s company. The kitchen also adheres to a similar theme, using a pastel green colour scheme to create a more homely cooking environment.

Villa Padron includes five opulent suites, each decorated in its own style, ensuring that every guest has a unique space to rest every night.  This property also includes an additional sofa bed that transforms into a comfortable single bed, and there are also two extra beds that can help accommodate two other guests. The House Museum of Rosalia de Castro is just over a 10-minute walk away from the centre of Padron, bringing guests right into the bustling hub of the region’s local history. The Rosalia de Castro Patronage founded this museum in 1947, as a way to preserve the rich legacy and history of this incredible poet and writer. The house is surrounded by looming trees and plants, making this a beautiful location to explore. The museum itself hosts a large collection of de Castro’s original writings as well as a few of her personal belongings. The House Museum of Rosalia de Castro is open from 10am till 4pm and tickets cost just €2 each.

If you are looking to delve more into Padron’s religious history, Igrexa Santa Maria Irira Flavia is a perfect landmark to explore. Built in the 12th century, this church was originally a religious temple that was destroyed by Al-Mansur’s troops back in 999AD. The church was redesigned in the 18th century to adhere to a more contemporary Baroque style. Inside, the church makes use of an assortment of stone statues, creating a peaceful and idyllic atmosphere. These statues hold a great amount of significance within the local area, making them a tremendous sight to behold. Igrexa Santa Maria Iria Flavia is located just 4 minutes away from the centre of Padron.

Hiking is a very popular activity within Padron and surrounding areas due to its impeccable and truly stunning landscapes. Santiago de Compostela is home to multiple hiking trails and is located just 25 minutes away from the centre of Padron. Take your time to meander through the awe-inspiring forests and stroll along the tranquil streams. All of these hiking routes lead back to a popular cathedral within the region, which makes exploring all of the popular tourist destinations an easy feat. The main hiking path, also known as 'The Way', was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1987, helping the site to attract an abundance of tourists every year.

About the Region & Getting There

About Galicia

Like many parts of Spain, Galicia has its very own identity that has remained intact through its regional dialect and distinguishing culture. Although Galicia is recognised for its holy traditions, we urge budding tourists to also consider its astonishing green countryside & rivers and its UNESCO World Heritage sites. Occasionally you may even hear the gentle tootling of bagpipes, known locally as the Galician Gaita, along this northern corner of the Iberian Peninsula.

You're likely to fly into Santiago de Compostela, which is the capital of Galicia and is probably best known for the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage and its route. Many of the travellers embark on this journey by foot and tend to be mesmerised by this fine city at the end of their trek. Casco Viejo, or the Old Town, is a good place to end or even start your holiday. This area of the city is blessed with markets, restaurants, bars and buildings from a bygone era. After exhausting yourself in the busyness of the city, take a day trip to Praia de Rodas, on the gorgeous Cíes Islands. These small islands, accessible by boat from Vigo, Baiona, or Cangas, have been noted as having some of the best beaches in the world. It has to be seen to be believed!

Galicia is divided into four key regions: A Coruña, Lugo, Ourense and our favourite – Pontevedra. A Galician proverb states that 'Pontevedra gives water to travellers'. We firmly believe this to be true, as this particular part of Galicia has everything a traveller could need for an unforgettable experience and it almost feels like this city is constantly giving back. Whilst you holiday in Pontevedra you will realise that days are structured around mealtime. And why wouldn't they be? With some of the best seafood you will experience in Spain and the noteworthy Albariño wine, you may notice your jeans feeling a little tighter toward the end of your holiday. You will be glad to know that your waistline need not be a cause for concern though! Pontevedra is blessed with some of the best hiking trails, medieval monasteries, estuaries, and valleys within Spain. Don't forget about the coastline either! Rarely you will you find so many empty beaches, so make the most of this privacy and just embrace the nature around you.

Galicia is still an unspoilt part of the world. It has everything a diverse group of friends & family need to have a glorious adventure.

Getting There

Galicia is served by either Santiago de Compostela Airport, A Coruña Airport, or Vigo Airport. Various train lines connect the main cities and towns of Galicia to other destinations in Northern and Central Spain (and even Portugal). There are also vairous coach routes that you can take throughout the region and to other cities in Spain.

From the UK:
Direct flights are available from London with easyJet, Ryanair, Vueling, and many others. Although, travellers should be aware that Vigo Airport only receives domestic flights, so a stopover is needed if you wish to travel to this airport. Chartered flights are also available from several other UK airports.

Less than half an hour from Padron is Santiago de Compostela, known for its beautiful beaches. Within an hour from Santiago de Compostela is Rías Baixas, a unique beach characterized by a small stretch of sand and looming cliffs, creating picturesque views. The beach is close to seaside towns filled with local bars, restaurants, and shops, offering families a chance to explore the rich culture of the region. Additionally, Faro de Fisterra, a notable lighthouse, is about 90 minutes from Padron, marking the westernmost point in Europe and offering breathtaking views and a local museum.

Reviews

  • Incredible

    on 30/03/2024

The attention was incredible, and the villa was ideal, large and comfortable spaces. A group of ten friends traveled to disconnect and have a good time taking advantage of the festivity in Padron, although the weather was not on its side, the town provided us with all kinds of facilities to be comfortable and not fall into boredom. Access to the villa is very convenient, it is two steps from the center of Padron, which is very convenient since you do not have to use a vehicle to go to the market, and even if the visit is going to be touristy either.

  • We will be back!

    on 11/03/2024

We will be back. The tranquillity of the town, the kindness and, above all, Rosa's interest in ensuring that we will not miss anything at any time. We liked everything, and even more so, if we can, we want to repeat.

  • Exceptional

    on 24/06/2023

Exceptional. How clean and big it was, they left us fruit, milk and cookies for breakfast the next day, Nelly was very nice, the refrigerator broke and they changed it for us, the truth is that the house met the expectations of everyone.

  • The most friendly & helpful hosts

    on 15/05/2023
