Perfect for families or friends, it is spacious and has everything you’d need for a relaxing holiday, including a private swimming pool and fully-equipped kitchen with a washing machine and oven.
A mixture of modern and classic, this villa exudes charm. It’s made from traditional stone and overlooks the tree-dotted forests and sweeping coastline – you can make the most of the beautiful views from nearly all of the rooms thanks to its large glass windows and doors. Four of the bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms and all of them have their own television. Choose from four doubles and a twin bedroom. There’s also under floor heating and air conditioning throughout this villa, making it perfect for both warm and cooler-weather stays. Wi-Fi comes as standard, too.
While you’re cooling off in the saltwater swimming pool, children can play in the garden – there’s plenty of soft grassy areas and spots under shade. There’s a spacious living room here, too, with a working fireplace and comfy sofas to kick back on after a day of exploring. When it comes to meal times, you can pick up your fresh produce in Poio or try local cuisine in one of the restaurants there. The villa has both an indoor and outdoor dining table, so meal times are a real treat.
Poio itself is steeped in architecture and there are plenty of beaches here, too with soft sands for sunbathing ang calm waters for swimming. With Pontevedra town only a short 15-minute drive away and Campelo and Combarro within reach, too, it’s the perfect place to see more of this beautiful part of Galicia, Spain. The villa has free, on-site parking, so it’s never been easier to get exploring.

Location
About the surrounding area of Villa ZunigaVilla Zuniga is in O Sartal in Pontevedra, northern Spain. Set high into the hillside, it flaunts fantastic views of the tree-dotted forests and sweeping coastline below. The villa’s just 3km from Poio with its historic architecture, shops, restaurants and beaches, too and is only a 15 minute’ drive from Pontevedra town centre. This area in Galicia is known for its rugged coasts and thickly wooded countryside. You can eat some of the best seafood in Europe here, too – all washed down with a glass of delicious Albarino wine. Galicia is a hidden gem, and still remains largely off the typical tourist trail – making it an ideal destination for an authentic Spanish retreat.
In Pontevedra – known for its well-preserved old town and Gothic Santa María la Mayor Basilica –you can get your dose of culture. Snap pictures of the historic churches and charming squares here, before sampling local cuisine in one of the bars and restaurants. Fresh seafood like octopus, or other Galician specialties like empanada gallega – a large pie usually filled with meat – are a must try.
Other must-see cities like Vilanova de Cerveira and Caminha are close by, too. You could also make tracks for Vigo, Porto or Tui. The latter is a Romanesque and gothic village that’s steeped in history. Take in the cathedral and churches there, before heading to the mountain of Aloia nearby. If you climb to the top, you’ll be rewarded with views of Vigo estuary and the Louro valley below.

About the Region & Getting There
About Galicia
Like many parts of Spain, Galicia has its very own identity that has remained intact through its regional dialect and distinguishing culture. Although Galicia is recognised for its holy traditions, we urge budding tourists to also consider its astonishing green countryside & rivers and its UNESCO World Heritage sites. Occasionally you may even hear the gentle tootling of bagpipes, known locally as the Galician Gaita, along this northern corner of the Iberian Peninsula.
You're likely to fly into Santiago de Compostela, which is the capital of Galicia and is probably best known for the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage and its route. Many of the travellers embark on this journey by foot and tend to be mesmerised by this fine city at the end of their trek. Casco Viejo, or the Old Town, is a good place to end or even start your holiday. This area of the city is blessed with markets, restaurants, bars and buildings from a bygone era. After exhausting yourself in the busyness of the city, take a day trip to Praia de Rodas, on the gorgeous Cíes Islands. These small islands, accessible by boat from Vigo, Baiona, or Cangas, have been noted as having some of the best beaches in the world. It has to be seen to be believed!
Galicia is divided into four key regions: A Coruña, Lugo, Ourense and our favourite – Pontevedra. A Galician proverb states that 'Pontevedra gives water to travellers'. We firmly believe this to be true, as this particular part of Galicia has everything a traveller could need for an unforgettable experience and it almost feels like this city is constantly giving back. Whilst you holiday in Pontevedra you will realise that days are structured around mealtime. And why wouldn't they be? With some of the best seafood you will experience in Spain and the noteworthy Albariño wine, you may notice your jeans feeling a little tighter toward the end of your holiday. You will be glad to know that your waistline need not be a cause for concern though! Pontevedra is blessed with some of the best hiking trails, medieval monasteries, estuaries, and valleys within Spain. Don't forget about the coastline either! Rarely you will you find so many empty beaches, so make the most of this privacy and just embrace the nature around you.
Galicia is still an unspoilt part of the world. It has everything a diverse group of friends & family need to have a glorious adventure.
Getting There
Galicia is served by either Santiago de Compostela Airport, A Coruña Airport, or Vigo Airport. Various train lines connect the main cities and towns of Galicia to other destinations in Northern and Central Spain (and even Portugal). There are also vairous coach routes that you can take throughout the region and to other cities in Spain.
From the UK:
Direct flights are available from London with easyJet, Ryanair, Vueling, and many others. Although, travellers should be aware that Vigo Airport only receives domestic flights, so a stopover is needed if you wish to travel to this airport. Chartered flights are also available from several other UK airports.
Kids
Best Suited For: All AgesThanks to its garden space and private swimming pool, Villa Zuniga is an ideal choice for families with children. The villa’s near to rural walking routes and is 3km from Poio with its sandy beaches that are ideal for swimming and snorkelling. You could also hop on a boat trip to places like Illas Cies – a footprint-free group of islands off the coast of Vigo – where you can swim in the surrounding waters, or join a scuba diving tour.
For fun family day trips, you can head into Pontevedra and explore the historic old town and pretty churches. Or, make tracks for other sight-packed places like Tui. At the latter, you can climb to the top of the mountain of Aloia for wow-worthy views of the Louro valley below. You could also visit Dunas de Corrubedo – a natural park with a gigantic dune that kids can roll down to reach Playa do Vilar Beach.
