THE REGION
Pollensa, in the north of the island, is an ancient town of attractive narrow streets and an impressive main square, lined with cafés, restaurants and bars, and is just a few kilometres from Port de Pollensa.
The town has several places of interest to visit, including the Roman bridge, signposted ‘Pont Roma’, which is still in use, and the Puig de Pollensa – a small mountain topped by a monastery just outside the town. Here we provide all the information you want to know to make the most of this relaxed yet culturally satisfying inland town.

Best Suited For: All AgesPollensa is also an ideal location for families due to the wide selection of alluring tourist attractions found within this region. Formentor Lighthouse is an extremely significant landmark and resides just under an hour away from the town centre. First built in 1863, this lighthouse was used to guide small fishing boats away from the jagged rocks at the base of the shore. In the 21st century, this monument still holds the same important purpose, protecting the local fishermen and citizens of Pollensa for generations. It takes around 30-minutes to drive to the top of the lighthouse, allowing guests to gain a spectacular assortment of panoramic views as they drive past. Formentor Lighthouse is also a vital aspect of the literary world, providing key inspiration to writers such as Gerardo Diego and Blas de Otero.
Joan March Gardens are just under 10-minutes away from the town centre of Pollensa and offer an abundance of natural landscapes for guests to explore at their own pace. These gardens were built in the late 1980s in honour of Joan March, the eldest son of the March Family. This family helped to boost Pollensa’s economy and financial prospects with their intuitive business ventures. This park is best known for its variety of native olive trees and collection of unique plants. Guests can meander through this landmark and learn more about the ecosystems that exist within this wondrous region. The Joan March Gardens are also open 24 hours a day, meaning that guests can visit the park at any time during their stay in Pollensa.
The Pollensa Museum is just a short walk away from the town centre and is an ideal place to visit if you are looking for a few free attractions to experience during your visit. The museum was first built in the 16th century and was used to showcase a range of ornate Gothic altarpieces. During the 1960s, this establishment received a large amount of praise for this collection, particularly at the Summer Exhibition of Painting. The Pollensa Museum was finally founded in 1975 and is home to the works of Atilio Boveri and a range of Buddhist artefacts. Guests can visit the museum every weekday from 10 am till 2 pm free of charge.
